Listen John......Ive always wanted to sign up for THP but i cant afford it......but your and Isaiahs videos have provided me with enough knowledge to raise my vert to 40"+..........when i hit 50" its gonna be because of yall 🙏
Ay that’s very inspiring man. I’m also someone who can’t afford courses online but am glad to have found their videos. I’m just starting out but hopefully in the 1-2 years I can dunk.
Here is my takeaway: specificity is important both for the individual and for the event. Want to jump higher, jump. Low rim with adequate recovery until you stop progression. Then, maybe start some strength training. Risk to reward ratios are important when any training modalities are considered. So many injured athletes out there. Great content.
Nice video. On my 30’s I got 40” vertical but my game was not too good. Now on my 48 my vertical is 30” but my game improved a lot on fundamentals and game reading. I prefer my game nowadays.
Hi John, It was pretty good, that you put up this video. In a matter of fact I had a plyo week every fifth week and was liking it a lot and surprisingly for me it even helped me to recover from heavy leg training. After I've started experimenting with Isaiah-like training, where you have only one plyo day per week I was not so elated anymore and injuries with overtraining and fatigue became a real issue. Closing thoughts, after hearing this I think it would be clever idea to have more time off weight training (for legs) and replace it with plyo training like before, (week of plyos for legs and upperbody resistance training). (Actually it functioned like a deload week for me). On top of everything else I would also practice plyos on the days when I am not extremely fatigued after lifting and feel jumpy-light. (That is usually, the leg days).
50” isn’t a barrier for the max vert. That has definitely been doable but other athletes in the past. Now if any of them actually jump 50” with a true vertical it will be insane.
I'm curious what you think about Dac or Christopher Spell? What are your takes on their verts and training methods? Also, what would your guess be for the vert of guys like Guy Olivier, Riley Smith, Ty Jackson, Anthony Hamilton, Darius Clark, Jacob Tucker and others who have claimed 50 inches I do think all of these guys are mid to high 40s but 50 is such a specific thing. I'm curious what your thoughts are
Great job adapting your training to your customers. Question ... this might be a serious problem in the future, but could you get some athletes to 52-55 inch vertical with PEDs or EPO?
@@bp3484 black genes has been shown by many studies that they would have more type 2 muscle fibers and usually bigger muscles as well. Its funny because your acting like these attempts are "VERTICAL" jump numbers!? They are not and you know this. Alan Barch Jr had an actual 50.5 STANDING VERTICAL and a 54.5 running/approach vertical. There is a difference.
@spoon1540 your missing the point which is that he is acting like an approach jump is equal or the same as a vertical jump when everyone knows they are not

The GOAT coach of vertical jump. Undisputed.

Great video man, love the explanations and descriptions of different athletes ❤️🔥
keep this type of content coming
Dom’s next up
Facts. Him with a 50 would be insane
This is so tuff bro this dude really knows how to coach we gotta tip our hat off to bro

Great vid. Learned a lot🙏🏼🙏🏼
John really thought no one was gonna notice the Ichiraku Ramen hat 😏
Absolutely based
GOAT COACH
Wow, this was an eye opening video. I've been comparing myself only against Isaiah, but the diversity is insane
very precious Information, thank you so much❤
Nice to see FIGJAM Evans back with another video 😂
Keep at it
Bro is flexing 😂😂
🤌🫶💪
Do you have training program ?
Bro's cashing in some massive Ws in his CV
Tony is so inspiring, I’m around his hight and also a one foot jumper. Didn’t think it was possible
Height isn’t correlated with vert, if anything it’s easier if your short
@@cruz4998 He's prob talking about being able to dunk a ball
im 14 and dunking these guys have helped a lot
How you(John Evans) Plan your own Program to increase your Vertical ?Or you also have a coach to Design a Program for you

How do you they didn’t already to reach 50?
Hasnt kind dac also tested 50 inches? Regardless tho he jumps pretty high aswell, all of these guys are amazing athletes.
Yeah but he wasnt coaches by THP
How can I figure out what training suits me best?
I’m next up (I’m not even at 40”)
What's your current vert?
@@timmytheinventor4746I’ll share mine :)
Stats:
Height: 5’9
Standing no jump reach: 7’4
Running vertical reach: 9’6
Vertical: 26”
Age: 18
Weight: 180lbs
Sport: Volleyball (3 years)
Gym time: Not a lot
6:33-6:37 Did you say he squated 405 or 485 ?
I think 485 👀
How fast is Donovan. And Isaiah at 40 yards.
Awesome bro no knees over toes split squats lol
Why you prefer half back squat as compared to half front squat?
I do not know his reasoning but front squatting heavy usually fatigues the back more than the legs tbh
@@xwsora8664 also front squats cannot be loaded heavily compared to back squats
How to train for 2 foot jump ?
1:09 ima do it in the future
I’m here for it!! New sub!
@@catchrec1581 I appreciate it bro
Fucking crazy stuff!
looking ripped 👀
5:20 you should tell him to put plates underneath toes Mr coach
Nice
Yo I’m next right?
But John… what is your vert? 😏
Pretty sure it's 42'
I thought Tony been had 50 like 3 years ago 🤔
he did
So the plan is to find talented athletes and tell them to keep doing what they are doing.
Yo wsg John I finally broke the plateau
None of them have 50 inch vertical leaps. Max vert yeah
1 thing to note is that Tony is the only black athlete while being the shortest 😅😅
Vert cares about neither of these things

@@wpower7435 lol bro just saying usually not end all be all. Mc mclung and Jordan kilganon are whites too
I’m at 50 inches: add 4 to that
u think anyone got 51+ potential?
Yes he said Tony might. In the future 51 will be broken for sure just how far we dont know
Isaiah I think will hit it
Isaiah got to 50.5 with injuries and less genetic talent. Of course 51 is possible.
I believe in Isaiah
I'll say donovan since I dont watch or know many people

Alan Barch has been a known fraud
You just said they are both vertical jumps… standing vertical and running/approach vertical… both are vertical
@spoon1540 your missing the point which is that he is acting like an approach jump is equal or the same as a vertical jump when everyone knows they are not
approaches and standings fall under the same umbrella of vertical leap, its just how you jump
