I just bought one of these today and the first thing I wanted to do was to create an “initialized patch”. I haven’t read the manual yet so maybe there’s a better way but I did it manually. Press the “select voice” button. Mute all the voices but one. On the unmuted wave, choose a waveform, like a saw tooth for example. Zero out all the modulation/effects on that voice except for some decay and release on Envelope 3 (since that controls the amplitude) and save that patch. That’s your initial patch.
Awesome demo on this synth. Very underated:) One of my main synths on my all hardware rig. Most of the leads on my tracks are from a transwave I programmed because of the deep, rich, harshness of those sounds. Really unique.
I used to own the vfx bought it for 100 bucks while I never programmed it I loved the sound of it. It's like instant new age massage parlor but it's really lovely.
Ope, just found this video, too. If you have a MIDI interface hooked up to your computer (I assume you do?), a free program called MIDI Ox will let you record sysex. It’s pretty much hit record in MIDI Ox, send the dump from that SAVE page on the VFX, and boom, yer done.
One time, I wrote the most awesome lead sound I ever made for my Roland Gaia. So I thought I saved it. But when I turned the board back on, it was gone! I tried to recreate that sound. Never was able to do it! Luckily I did make a youtube video about that sound. You can hear it there. But it's kind of like rubbing salt into a wound! Sometimes crap happens!
Some folks wonder about sysex and computers and such I blew out my wavestation A/D a couple years ago I got out my midi uno then bought a cable that connected to my Android phone then the USB on the uno and a third line from it that I hooked my phone charger The play store has a sysex app and reloaded all the factory program to my WS A/D It will work on any old synth These new phones are more powerful then our desktops of 30 years ago So computer? Sure buy an old one, hey why not But you can do it with your smart phone I did
Great demo. So, I just picked up a VFX-SD. I want to store things like the piano and organ in the first page of the sounds storage. Can you advise please how I can store a sound that I am playing over into sounds page 0? I suspect I can't simply "flip" the two sounds right? So I would loose what was originally in the patch?
Hey, thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed my video. I no longer own my VFX and cant quite remember the details of how to do this. Luckily the manual is available online :)
I suggest you download and read the manual, this information is easily available through a Google search. I haven't used a VFX in quite a while so I can't fully remember the exact button presses needed to save a patch. It's easy though, that's for sure
@@warmnatural Thanks, I did read the manual though, but theres this weird phrasing of stuff, there are presets, but they are not the same as sounds and if I press the preset button the sound I make disappear.

Nice video. And yeah, they're your patches so who cares if you don't give them to other people. They can make their own lol
I don’t know how

Hello, how do i save a sound I made with the vfx? I am scared to turn it off and go to bed because I'm not sure if I saved it or not...
