Welcome to another episode of Challenger Approaching! In this series, we discuss characters who could find their way into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate or future entries, then go into ludicrous detail on what they would be like if they joined the fight for real!
This time, we're turning our attention to a topic that is both common and rather divisive. With all the huge names and jaw-dropping reveals over Ultimate's run so far, the idea of a safe, predictable first party character that catches no one off guard...isn't very appealing. Many eyes are on Pokémon Sword & Shield as a potential source for one of the remaining DLC fighters, and among them, Cinderace is often considered the most likely. The apparent predictability, combined with a presumed lack of spectacle surrounding such a reveal, have created a veil of resentment overshadowing any supporters' excitement.
But is Cinderace's situation--and appeal--what it seems, or is there more going on beneath the surface? And just how could this firebending footballer stand out in Smash next to all the other fighters who share the element? Let's take a look.

Types of Soccer/Football Kicks: premierskillse...)
I feel kinda bad for Cinderace, since I feel as though a bunch of people will dismiss it JUST because it's a fire-type Pokemon. People complained that Incineroar was chosen over Decidueye, but I think Incineroar made for the more novel moveset. And with regards to a Gen 8 'mon, I'd rather have Cinderace than the other Gen 8 starters (though I think using one of the Legendaries/Mythicals could be cooler). Either way, I'm in support of a Gen 8 rep if it means we get Pokemon Sword/Shield music in Smash!
Great work once again, Delzethin!
Pokemon fans care more about type representation in Smash, so if one type has more reps than others, then there's gonna be some flak. This is not a problem to only Cinderace though. Toxtricity will get similar criticism on how there's too many Electric types alongside Pikachu and Pichu, too Water types if Intelion or Urshifu's Multi-Strike form gets in, or too many Dark types if Urshifu's Single Strike form gets in. Your best bets for a Gen 8 Pokemon that wouldn't create a type bias are Rillaboom (Ivysaur being the only Grass type in the roster), Sirfetch'd (Lucario being the only Fighting type in the roster), and Calyrex w/ its noble steeds (Mewtwo being the only Psychic type in the roster).
It's good to hear your take on the situation!
I'd MUCH rather people take a look at Cinderace's personality, design, moveset, not what type of Pokemon it is when Incineroar didn't even have one Fire type move!
I agree. Cinderace is a great Pokémon and my favorite Fire Starter, so I for one would be pretty hype to see it be added to the roster. Getting some Gen 8 music would be awesome too.
While I feel the same, Yoshiller, I can't honestly say Cinderace interests me in the slightest. Even within Pokemon, I don't want another fire starter with mechanics that exist among a mix of other characters already like Wii Fit Trainer and Terry. But I do still want a Pokemon here even if so many others don't. It would be an actually appealing low-intensity pick to wrap up the second Fighters Pass, without the bad hand Byleth was dealt by nature. (Or, at least in some crowds...as MUCH of a bad hand.)
As an alternative to Cinderace I'd suggest Toxtricity above all else. AoE attackers with walls of sound and a heavy focus on punishing aggressive behavior are RARE in Smash, and this one just oozes with personality. (As well as poison. Obviously.)
Alternatively, Sirfetch'd as more of a lancer than a swordsman, complete with a more interesting shield, or Dragapult for being the more mechanically weird and wacky one. Heck...Rillaboom would be more interesting, and Delzethin did that concept already fairly well, better than his more recent ones IMO.
I'd love any gen 8 pokemon
I just want calyrex the most for the memes.
I freaking love the idea of the cheer charging mechanic this is a really cool moveset!
Hey Vern!
Hello fellow poyo fan
Vern@@Boss-mw1jv
hi🔪🙂
of course you would say that (this is a joke please don't hurt me)
This is awesome the crowd meter idea is brilliant. It's a nice change up from meters that build simply by being hit or hitting. This one actually requires a bit of tact.
I have a suggestion for your idea. Cheer should go down surprisingly quickly if Cinderace isn't moving. This would encourage players not to camp, and better reward the going in part of a hit and run style character!
Not a bad idea, but I think that would make the problem of having to play aggressively all the time even worse.
Fruity pfp ngl
I'm very upset his Up-Special isn't Bounce since it's also flying, launches him into the air and IS one of the most used competitive moves used on it.
Cinderace would be cool but there's just one nitpick I would have, anf it's the fact that we already have two last evolution fire starter with Charizard and Incineroar so a third one might be too much, especially considering there are a couple gen 8 mons that would be way cooler in Smash
Cinderace would call foul and act like their shin just broke open every time they get tripped.
I thought cinderace couldn’t learn five
Honestly Rooting for any gen 8 pokemon
Cinderace was my starter and I would love it.
Also I'm calling a spike move rolando soccer 64
As much as people don’t won’t another Pokemon rep in Smash, I personally would be happy if another Pokemon got into Smash, especially with Cinderace and this type of unique moveset and specials.
I really like that you named your Scorbunny 'Brighid' like the Celtic Goddess of Fire, that's a nice touch!
Honestly I thought it was a reference to the character from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 lol
@@Girkirbythesecond funnily enough that brighid uses fire as well
Will you continue this series even after Smash Ultimate?
That's the plan. I'll have to adjust a few things, but I want to keep this series going.
So who do u think is gonna be in smash?
It'll be fun see you break free of what characters seem plausible and just do whatever you want
@@Delzethin nice
@@DelzethinGreat to hear! Your videos are so under rated. You deserve way more viewers. Smash speculation never stops when the game is released. There is always the next game 😉
I’d be so happy if a Gen 8 Pokémon got in just for the potential of new Gen 8 music Remixes. Absolute bops.
I wonder if we'd get that Toby Fox track?
Yes, I need bede’s theme in smash!
If I had to choose a Gen 8 Pokémon as a newcomer, I would be cool with Cinderace or Obstagoon the most. They’re just really cool.
I still think James Bond: The Pokémon is pretty likely.
Good job with this though. I think the Cheer Meter is the perfect fit for a flashy, fun character. First Parties at this point kind of need to justify themselves in terms of playstyle and kind of being gimmicky Captain Falcon would probably tone down a lot of the inevitable toxicity.
I kinda prefer Toxtricity over Cinderace in terms of smash.
But, I think Cinderace would be a cool addition
The cheer meter concept makes this quite literally a hype character. :P Hadn't considered that. Wonder how that'd factor into a high-level tournament setting in the right hands!
I don't know why more people don't talk about Inteleon.
It would be way more creative than the other starters. A gorilla playing drums and controlling grass? Could be cool. A speedy rabbit that kicks fire around? Sure.
But... A SNIPER? Imagine a sniper character in a platform fighting game. That would be sick and if anyone can make that work, it's the Smash Bros dev team
Me too! I love Intelleon. But not only is it a spy, it's a lizard. It could have a tongue tether, Glide like Peach with its wings, and wack foes with its spiked tail and overall have a lot of sneaky things. It would more of a ranged Greninja in a way
Most people don't like it.
@@sterling8389 yeah definitely, and it's jab and grab attacks could mimic hand-to-hand fighting from classic spy movies
@@PikminandOatchi most people didn't like Incineroar but it got in because it's inspiration was unique for Smash Bros.
@@PikminandOatchi There are a lot of characters people don't initially like or know about in smash as well as their base game. Incineroar is the biggest example as it wasn't that popular at first(even with me), but thr personality is was given in smash made it grow on me. I know people don't like it's design, but I think it's a great design. It all depends on what the devs do with it
Finally, a character that literally forces the player to be hype. I'd still prefer Rillaboom if any gen 8 pokémon got in but the creativity and thought put into this moveset is stellar and I wouldn't mind playing this. An interesting suggestion would be that if the Cheer Meter was maxed out for any Cinderace on the field at any time, cheer sound effects taken directly from the Sword and Shield Gym battles could play in the background.
Classic Mode Idea: Max Raid Smash (Cinderace vs Giant Opponents)
Stage 1: Pikachu
Stage 2: Mario
Stage 3: Donkey Kong
Stage 4: Ridley
Stage 5: Kirby
Stage 6: Charizard
Boss Stage: Giga Bowser
I think making cinderace more fireworks than fire is a great way of making it feel more unique against the other fire starters we have.
How about when at full meter the fire traces are replaced with sparkles that are followed by actual fire works being shot behind from the burning ground?
Oh, and they match the fighter's alt color, as if they were the colors of the team it's playing.
Okay, the team-colored fire idea is actually perfect.
Delzethin, I've been working on my own smash ideas and I enjoy seeing other fans come up with movesets. It helps me put together my plan for how Smash would improve with movesets that work for each character. I would like to request for you to do a Challenger Approaching for Terra Branford from Final Fantasy 6. The game happens to have the best story despite 7 being the most popular. But to me, the best representation to FF is the magic; Fira, Firaga, Thunara, Blizara, Graviga, Holy, Meteor, etc. You know? When Hero came out, I saw his moveset and the MP mechanic was just the kind of mechanic I was going to give Terra. Someone came up with that idea before Hero was announced and I was disappointed for that. If I wanted to include Terra, I wanted to drop Hero for her for that mechanic. Not only that, the magic Hero uses is quite what Terra would be doing. So its just me but I would've wanted Terra over Hero, even though I've never played Dragon Quest. Still, if you have an idea for her, her magic and sword skills, and even her Esper being a mechanic like from Dissidia, I'd love to see how she could play in Smash. And in case you'd like to see the idea this person gave her initially before Hero's entrance, check this link out. Let me know what you think.

Delzethin uploaded? My other videos can wait
When I saw this, my stomach sank not gonna lie. I spent a good chunk of time coming up with what I felt would be a pretty dang good moveset but I feel like yours are so much more thorough I'm worried about living up to it!
Once again, requesting Tabuu for a Challenger Approaching.
i thought about instead of using burning jealousy, it would be scorching sands (an isle of armor tutor move the scorbunny line can use). this would have cinderace slam the ground with a blazing foot causing several geyser like animations played a short distance from it. the animation would just be 4 small earth powers around cinderace.
Could you do Inteleon after this just to round out the trio
A lot of people really despise the idea of Cinderace in Smash, but honestly, literally I'd just be unhappy if it was any other Gen 8 pokemon, because I genuinely think Scorbunny and their evos are the best Gen 8 mon designs, I love Cinderace
I’m the exact opposite. Cinderace has one of the most garbage character designs in Pokémon in a while.
This moveset would definitely make a fun Smash character, & I do like Cinderace, but overall, when it comes to a new pokémon fighter, he's probably one of the lamer options IMO.
Just from Sword & Shield, we have a huge gorilla manipulating a new element to the game, two bear legendary mons that use classic fighting game styles that are absent from the game so far, a poison/electric punk rocker who takes the Lucario role in terms of gameplay & how it's obtained, several new evolutions to classic/fan favorite mons... the list goes on.
And that doesn't even touch another gen 4 mon or even Decidueye again given how BDSP & Legends give them new relevance.
I would like Cinderace from a gameplay perspective. But as far as choosing a new pokémon, there are a lot more interesting options.
My Galar starter! I love this rabbit.
The cheer mechanic was a really cool idea!
Very nice concept, and the mechanics sound great! :) Although I'd be disappointed to see Cinderace because it's conceptually similar to Incineroar (fire-type starter "athlete" that showboats for the crowd), if it played like this then I think it'd be a lot of fun. At first I was 100% certain that we'd see a Gen 8 Pokemon in Fighter Pass 2, but the closer we get to the end, the less confident I feel. My personal vote would be for Zacian (which you also made a great concept for!).
It would be cool if the up smash was based off of high jump kick instead since cinderace actually learns it in game and I think it would have a cool trade-off mechanic. My idea for it would be that it would be that it would be one of the strongest up smashes in the game and has decent to slightly above average range, but it would be slow and if you miss it, Cinderace would get massive damage
I love this concept for Cinderace! I would be so hype to see my favorite Fire Starter make it into the roster!
I think it would be neat if Cinderace’s up smash started behind them, mimicking a bicycle kick
Now we only need Inteleon to complete the Gen 8 Trio, which surprisingly, are a trio of fairly compelling characters to add into Smash
Yeah, I mean the anime does usually decide which Pokemon get in smash
It didn't for the last 3
Yeah. Pikachu is the mascot and also Ash's first and closest companion. Mewtwo and Lucario both had starring roles in a movie. I guess Pichu had that one anime special. Charizard is a very popular Pokémon and is one of Ash's strongest, Squirtle is quite an iconic Ash Pokémon as well, and while Ash's Bulbasaur never evolved, Ivysaur has that connection to it. Greninja was Ash's ace during his Kalos adventure. And much to my dismay, Incineroar had prominent roles in the anime, both being owned by Cross in the I Choose You movie and the Masked Royal in the Sun and Moon anime. I feel confident Cinderace will be chosen if we get a Gen 8 Pokémon, since it's promoted heavily and is the signature Pokémon of Goh, the secondary main character of Pokémon Journeys.
@@AuraStrikeAce Incineroar Greninja and Lucario were chosen before their anime influence
@@arianagrandefromfortnite I'd imagine they were told those Pokémon were going to have an important role in the anime at the very least.
Very detailed, solid work as always! I feel like the showboat playing to the crowd idea might have too much overlap with incineroar, but you never know
This is an interesting concept. I chose Scorbunny as my starter in Pokémon Sword, and is a character I wouldn't mind.
I personally think we’ll get a Sinnoh ‘mon next. With Sinnoh getting a remake and it’s own super experimental side game soon, while Gen 8 released all the way in 2019, it seems to be in a bit of a more of a relevant space, as well as more beloved by the fanbase. I really enjoy this moveset, though!
It’s funny because Sakurai almost included Decidueye, but opted for Incineroar. But now Decidueye is relevant again and they’ve been including characters that missed the base game (Rex/Pyra/Mythra, ARMS rep), so it’s entirely possible he gets in. I think an archer would be more interesting. Think Revali’s playstyle from Age of Calamity, but in Smash.
By the time this character releases (say Fall 2021) we’ll be closer to Gen 9 than we are to Gen 8, so a Gen 8 rep won’t matter as much. Assuming Pokemon follows the same 3 year cycle for generations, but the team working on a spin-off (Legends) and the pandemic could have pushed that back further.
One problem..we already got gen 4 music..
@@Sylvieboy72 we already had Xenoblade 2 music.
I feel like if another Pokémon is in the DLC, it would be an out of left field pick, something like how Sephiroth wasn’t expected. Maybe a fan favorite like Gengar?
There's already enough Gen 1 Pokémon in the roster as is, we don't need another. If we did get a Pokémon outside of the most recent Gens, I'd want it to be from Gen 3 or 5, since they don't have representation in the roster. Maybe a Gen 2 Pokémon would be fine too, since while Pichu is from Gen 2, it's a pre-evolution to Pikachu.
Not really expecting a Pokémon character, but Cinderace is my best choice, aside from Zarude and Decidueye.
Once again, hitting the nail on the head at the start about how people just brush off first party picks, particularly newer ones. Yeah, 3rd party are cool and all, but Smash is still a Nintendo game, and the fact that folks act like Nintendo adding their own characters in the mix as a crime is ridiculous, or lame as shallow as it may sound. The newer faces matter, too.
I really need Cinderace in Smash. ⚽🔥
@@KKHell
LMAO
I really need to Smash Cinderace.
While watching the video,I got a better idea for an Up-Special:what about using High Jump Kick?
Cinderace leaps high into the air, then comes down relatively fast at a diagonal angle,it is pretty strong but if you don't snap the ledge,or hit an opponent, you take damage(like 10% I guess) since that's what happens when High Jump Kick misses
I like Cinderace but I definitely prefer Rillaboom over him when it comes to smash. Also I think Incineroar is the only pokemon newcomer in SSBU we will have
Why do you prefer Rillaboom over Cinderance for Smash?
@@SuperPlacido1 because we have 2 fire types smash, 2 water types smash but there is only 1 grass type in smash
@@plushvolt7612 decidueye would be a better choice
Cinderace shall never be a he.
Personally, because Cinderace obviously wouldn't be accustomed to fighting with their hands, I could see them having ALL kicks, headbutts, or knees; aside from, of course, the grab. They can use their hands there. Just like with Little Mac, you do have to make it accurate to the sport, as that's most definitely going to be the only way Cinderace would know to fight, and soccer players CANNOT use their hands at all aside from the goalies being the only players able to in the form of, of course, grabbing the ball. As such, Cinderace's neutral combo would have to be, like Lucas', all kicks. It may be boring to see all kicks, but, I mean, this is football/soccer we're dealing with, and Little Mac did the same thing since he is, obviously, a traditional boxer. His style is ALL punches, as one cannot kick in the ring in traditional boxing. How would one be able to expect a soccer player to punch when they're treating it like a soccer game? Of course, such a thing wouldn't apply to a real-life fight, but Smash obviously isn't like a real-life fight at all.
This moveset: exists
Incineroar: Finally. A worthy opponent. Our battle will be legendary!
@@KKHell if comp is anything to go by Cinderace would destroy Incineroar lol
If we get a new Pokémon fighter I would want cinderace or garchomp (to promote gen 4 remakes).
I enjoyed watching this concept. Despite what others may say, I really hope Cinderace makes it in 'cause it's my sister's favorite Pokemon and I think it would make her really happy.
Awww, that's sweet! Cinderace is also a favorite of mine.
I love cinderace too, but I would prefer rillaboom!
People are just gonna have to accept the fact that a Gen 8 Pokémon is in the realm of possibility, Sword and Shield are the only big Switch Games not represented in Smash as now while the others are represented in some way. I gladly welcome Cinderace with open arms and I even nicknamed him *”Soccer Chungus”*
People are expecting/wanting third party characters for DLC because base game is (usually) where we get mostly first party characters. DLC is where third party picks are more easily possible because they can track and share profits individually for those companies than if they were to include them in the base game.
Also… while there’s a few standouts, we have every primary, and secondary Nintendo franchises and characters, and even some tertiary ones. There’s a wider pool of exciting/interesting picks from other companies than there are from Nintendo now. Out of ones they would use anyway. They’re not going to add a ton of random one-off/tertiary characters, they’re rare. And they DO have 70+ Nintendo characters so their pool (they would likely choose) to pull from us thinning. I’d like Vaati, but he has zero chance, just as most of the Nintendo characters left. They’re simply not going to put a lot of characters on that level in (as base game or DLC). Especially not DLC where they’re trying to sell to as many people as possible, which means the character has to be recognizable enough or a crazy unique move set for casuals (who don’t buy the pass) to buy said character.
I think you sold me on cinderace! As per usual ur still my fave utuber
It's so cool with all of the references, like the carry pyro ball. did you know Chandelure in pokken tournament uses overheat? It functions exactly like you said! Somebody's got a good ideaaaaa (cuz it's been done)
Not sure if I'm biased because I play soccer, but this moveset seems really fun and interesting.
I really hope Rillaboom gets in, it's my favourite and it would round out the final stage starters of water Greninja, fire Incineroar and grass Rillaboom.
I… have no interest in Cinderace getting in, mainly due to not buying Sword or Shield and just losing interest in Pokémon games that aren’t Mystery Dungeon. I just… don’t care about them. Maybe your moveset could peak my interest.
Moveset thoughts: It’s a neat concept, and I do think it represents Cinderace better as a Pokémon more the Incineroar currently. I actually thought that Incineroar could have a version of Acrobatics and Overheat for it’s Up and Down special before it got revealed. I’m still not super sold on Cinderace getting in, though.
This fleshed out explanation of Cinderace has really opened me up to its potential. Personally though, I would like to see Calyrex as the generation 8 representative instead - quite a niche pick. He would perhaps be the most unique Pokemon to turn into a fighter, not only because of his extremely high intelligence and healing abilities, but also because...
...he has two mounted horses to choose from! He could swap between the slow but strong Glastrier and the weak but fast Spectrier, akin to Pokemon trainer. He would most likely harbor a trapper playstyle with moderate adjustments depending on the in-game situation. Plus, seeing the signature moves "Glacial Lance" and "Astral Barrage" in a fighting game would be dope af.
I'd be thrilled if we got a new pokemon trainer in Smash. How awesome would Rival Trainer in Smash be? Maybe they could even be an echo, with all the countering gen 1 starters. Blastoise, Charmaeleon, and Bulbasaur. If not that, than Alakazam, Rattatta, and Egsecutte
Am I the only one who isn’t all gung-ho about every DLC character being 3rd party? So many people only speculate on or hope for 3rd parties when honestly most characters I’d want in would be just Nintendo characters tbh
Didn't think I was the only one! I want new first party characters in the mix, too! Particularly, from Astral Chain and Dragalia Lost since they're brand new IPs. I don't understand why the majority of people here are against this. It' like Nintendo can't add their own characters into their crossover.
When talking about the appearances, may we have the challenger art in the alternate costumes?
Cinderace wouldn't be my first choice either but you definitevely make it work, as always !
It's hard being a supporter for safer options for Ultimate's pass. I dislike none of the new additions from the pass (and none from each smash game) but the only one I was felt really excited on a personnal level were Pyra & Mythra who took me by complete surprise and I was incredibely giddy watching the reveal. I've always kind of hoped for a gen 8 pokemon personnaly but never saw it as a shoe in.
And the fact that most of the switch's bigger unique titles (by that I mean games that debuted on the system and aiming for a bigger audience and I count Arms in it too), makes me really want Sword & Shield to get a rep.
But at the same time, things have been hard for any one them. Zacian & Zamazenta would have been great but since technical difficulties prevented a Rex & Pyra tag team to work, I doubt the two wolfs would unfortunately be immune.
Some of the fanfavourite request are too ... well fan requested and and their main arguments in their favour were a bit overblown and each are kind of off now: Urshifu only surfed on the wave of promotionnal argument thanks to the dlc who is long past now. Toxicitry only has fan request to back him up. Obstagoon wouldn't stand out as much because of incineroar. And sirfetch'd coming right after sephiroth would also have a hard time standing out. Of course that doesn"t mean I'm against any of them, (tough i have my favourites) but their chance are really thin nowadays.
And unless they pick an exredibely weirder pick (imagine Wooloo for smash out of the blue O-O ps: need a wooloo spirit though), I feel the best bet is one of the starters. I personnaly root for Rillaboom the most out of the three as he would have the easiest to stand out in the pass but anything gen 8 would be nice.
(For context, this is my response to the first minute and a half) I feel that the high expectations are mostly caused by Sakurai saying there wouldn't be any first party dlc (at least according to my memory he said something along those lines early in the game's life) so the bar was as high as ever.
To me, l think the make-or-break of this moveset would be how well/cool/natural it feels to juggle the fireball with you at all times, because l'm fascinated by the idea of 'actively storing' a charged special projectile around with you. Especially since it'd be his NeutralB, which means Kirby would have access to it as well (although l dont know whether you really take kirby's adaptation of every newcomer's NeutralB in consideration when you're creating these movesets... Do you?)
This was a great showing of how Cinderace could be a great fighter. I don't understand why people are so distant towards the idea of Nintendo adding Nintendo characters into their Nintendo game. And why is it such a bad idea to have another fire starter? So what? Do you really think that something Cinderace does will just be a repeat of Charizard or Incineroar. Why can't we focus on cool things the fighters can do in their moveset to make them stand even with people similar to them instead of what kind of crossover with what franchise Smash will do next. Honestly, this is most of the reason I just stopped speculating. Feels more like an echo chamber.
THIS IS GOOD
would love to see an episode of this series about a resident evil character!!
Idea:Cinderace's "crowd meter" gets at maximum immediately if the crowd chants his name. Maybe he could even be more buffed than normal but only during the chant
Ah well, I was hoping for Sol. Still, your concepts are always great.
Honestly...I don't care for Cinderace. I want a new Pokemon to be different. Breaking the trend. Toxtricity would do just that.
Gengar
Agree
I'm hoping for Crash myself but if Cinderace got in, that's a cool consolation as it's my fave of the three starters (I do like Rillaboom as well)
I feel like we'll probably get at least one "safe" first party character among the last two newcomers, but my gut tells me that people claiming that it can *only* be a Gen VIII Pokemon or a Fire Emblem character (from a game that hasn't been announced yet I guess?) need to broaden their tunnel vision. I feel like the Smash community tends to be pretty insular from what's popular outside of their echo chamber and what Nintendo wants to promote, which was why so many people were blindsided by picks like Isabelle and Min Min. Currently my guess is something like another Splatoon character like Octoling as a unique fighter. I'm not 100% on it since there is a case you could make against it based on content already in the base game, but with Splatoon going strong with an upcoming third installment and how much some "hardcore" Nintendo fans groused about them "milking" the series (oh no, a sequel after five years) a lot of people seem to underestimate how big it's become.
Or I don't know, maybe something random like a Famicom Detective Club character.
even as a huge pokemon fan, I don't really want another pokemon character, and if we do cinderace might be my least favorite pick. 2 fire starters in a row is just boring. If we do I really hope it's toxtricity, a poison electric type with sound based attacks sounds really fresh and it has a cool alt built in. And for it's final smash it would GMAX in the back like your idea but instead of just being a larger version of giga bowser it would do a sweeping attack across the stage with it's electric guitar. We also have reason to believe it was one of the earlier developed Gen 8 pokemon so it seems likely it made it for DLC selection too.
Toxtricity would be cool. Maybe he could switch between his two forms? It would be cool if he had a different pokeball like a quickball or something for his entering animation.
@@shroomer8294 actually the two toxtricity forms are just cosmetic. Depending on if it’s nature matches a more amped up or low key personality, so it would probably just work for an alt. I totally agree with the pokeball though. If it does gigantimax that would mean it was caught in a den when dusk balls are the best pokeballs so I think that would be the coolest.
@@mudedmmuh964 They don’t even have gameplay differences? Didn’t know. They could still do that in smash tho imo. Kinda like a Pyra Mythra thing.
@@shroomer8294 nope they function identically. If Olimar and alph are just costumes then there’s no way the toxtricity forms would be any different, especially because if they did work differently it wouldn’t even be in reference to the game like Pokémon trainer or pythra.
I wish someone would make a moveset ideas video for marshadow.
A reminder to those who think Smash needs to end off with a “bang”, it never has
The final reveal for Smash 4 was Duck Hunt even though a character like Pac-Man would’ve been more exciting
The final reveals for Smash 4’s DLC were Corrin and Bayonetta even though characters like Ryu or Cloud would’ve been more exciting
The final reveals for Smash Ultimate were Ken, Incineroar and Piranha Plant even though characters like Simon or K. Rool would’ve been more exciting
The final reveal for Pass 1 was Byleth even though characters like Hero or Banjo would’ve been more exciting
There’s two thoughts to this.
One, they did those exciting characters earlier because they didn’t want to risk going too long and having them leaked. Ryu and Roy were leaked, but Cloud and Bayonetta weren’t because they changed how they file and name characters. It’s actually why they reveal them before release than have secret characters because all too often the rosters were leaked a week or whatever before release anyway. For Ultimate, they tend to line up the most hyped characters for E3: Ridley, Hero/Banjo, Steve. So the idea they won’t save “the best for last” is possible given their track record. (Then again they get a bunch of attention on slow news days too, which means less competition for people’s than at E3)
The other thought is that this is *actually* the end of Smash not just for Ultimate (a milestone of the series that will never be matched) but of the team itself. They worked from Smash 3DS/Wii U, to their DLC, to Ultimate, and now 2 passes of Ultimate DLC. It finally IS the end for them so the team and Sakurai might feel like ending on a high note. Especially because unlike Smash For’s DLC, Ultimate actually has a strict plan, it’s not sporadic.
Although that’s a hard argument to argue because that implies Sakurai chooses what order each character is developed/releases and there’s nothing to indicate that. MAYBE Nintendo says they want X character to be shown at E3 and the rest is up to Sakurai because there’s no other big events to announce them at. But I highly doubt if Nintendo is choosing the characters they aren’t dictating what order to lineup with their partners announcements or their own Directs (although they have no problem announcing Smash characters on their own anyway). In fact, a plan makes it *more likely* Nintendo has control to line up with specific announcements/events.
As far as I’m concerned, E3 will be where the last exciting character is revealed. If the final one is exciting, it will be less because “they wanted to end of a bang” and more because they just chose a bunch of hyped characters for this pass and they just happened to release last for any number of reasons.
a fully evolved fire start with an affinity for showing off to the crowd? incineroar much? i like the moveset you gave it, but i know nintendo has way more options in the ways of pokemon.
i love pokemon and i want a new fighter from the franchise, but at least aesthetically, this would be the most bland possibility. I would much prefer Toxtricity; sound based moves are seldom seen in any moveset barring jigglypuff. Calyrex would also be an interesting choice, as we're yet to see a horseback fighter. I know that no new fighter will be completely "original", but i think the people who paid money for the fighter packs deserves better than cinderace.
Pokemon is my favorite series and I want it so much
Nice job, other pokemon I thought could work is Sceptile, Exacdrill and Heracross.
Maybe soon you could make an inteleon concept to finish all of the starters.
If there's ANY Pokemon I want in Smash it'd definitely be Zeraora, Zeraora is such an amazing character that'd fit well in a fighting game
@@KKHell bro, wtf why are u so salty XD
@@KKHell Because they are awesome
@@KKHell Wait I just saw your name, nevermind XD you're pathetic
You talk about how much merch and attention in marketing Cinderace has... but you show a lot of Scorbunny merch. Have you considered the possibility that they might add a basic stage starter instead, since it's been so long since a Cute or Not Fully Evolved Pokemon was added, and to help differentiate it from Incineroar a bit more? I'd be a lot happier about a cute lil' cartoon rabbit than a Shonen Anime Rabbit.
If we do get a Galar rep, I just hope that their cheer isn't the Pokemon's name but instead uses the cheering from the audience in Sw/Sh's gyms when the Gym Leader's last Pokemon is out
Honestly, i think Cinderace has the best chances to come in Smash. I mean, they seem to take pokemon's because of their popularity. Just look at Greninja, he was the XYZ star and one of the best competitive mons in the game. Incineroar was the most recurring starter in the sun and moon show and was the most used mon competitively. Cinderace has plenty reasons to be the one choosed for smash:
He has appeared in the anime way before Rillaboom and Inteleon
He is the only gen 8 mon in Pokemon Unite (and the moves he has in this game could make perfect inspiration for his smash moveset) without mentioning the threat he is competitively.
While it’s true that the pokemon you listed are definitely popular in its community, they actually didn’t pick greninja for that reason back in smash 4’s development. It was just a random choice and the dev team had no idea greninja would become so big :)
We have rillaboom from a few episodes ago, and cinderace. Now I'd like to see my favorite pokemon: Inteleon, get a chance in smash
I have some ideas for videos.
1. The Dragonborn (Skyrim)
2. Nemesis (Resident Evil)
3. Albert Wesker (Resident Evil)
4. Ty the Tasmanian Tiger
5. Krystal (Star Fox)
6. Scorpion (Mortal Kombat)
7. Sub Zero (Mortal Kombat)
8. Zant (The Legend of Zelda)
9. King Boo (Luigi's Mansion)
10. Ezio Auditore (Assassin's Creed)
Predictable? I wouldn't predict another Fire-Type, especially after Charizard killed Squirtle and Ivysaur for most of the 2010s. I'd predict the more unique pick who also helps type representation better, Rillaboom.
4:23 Not good examples, at least for online which has been the world we've been in for over a year. Rosalina? Perfectly fine. But Inkling's roller and fast recovery make them really annoying online. Isabelle just LOVES that Fishing Rod, and need I explain the defensive top tier Palutena?
GJ on the moveset, the only issue is in the character you're covering (Soccer Incineroar with a DLC Meter) and that's not your fault, and you help weaken even that issue.
The fact that Sword and Shield got a sprit event gives me hope that a Pokémon won’t happen. Feel like they would have held out on spirits if there was going to be a character, like with Three Houses.
Imagine if Cinderace had a Falcon Punch. If it ever landed, the Hype Meter would immediately gain a 4th bar!
I miss when people were hype for 1st party characters
I know it feels like talking about a first party rep just puts people to sleep now.
It’s because they’ve included basically every primary and secondary Nintendo character, so the only ones left are tertiary characters/franchises and ones they likely aren’t going to use for DLC. A Rhythm Heaven character would be cool but that’s not going to sell to most people. More specifically, people who only buy individual characters and not the pass, because you don’t need to win them over. Also, people were hyped for an ARMS rep, and we got that. A new 1st-party franchise.
@@mrshmuga9 really, people who were hyped for an arms character was people who liked arms, all the rest were like "I'll see if I like them" or "Wasted slot"
@@omegastrike8812 I will just jump in and say I do like Arms but, I cannot play MinMin in Smash she just makes me want to play Arms instead.
@@codystork3008 but were you hype for the reveal
I personally do dread the inclusion of a lot of first party characters but it ain’t just because it is safe or whatever. Is more because I play more nicher games and I play PlayStation games or from other consoles a lot and not just Nintendo which makes me get way more excited with third party characters. And all my most wanted characters are either third party or niche in some way so most Nintendo characters don’t do that much to me except for a few exceptions.
I think cinderace would be a really cool character. I also think intellion would be cool. However, I think rillaboom would be less cool.
Cinderace is not cool... It's actually pretty hot!
I always thought (and still think) Incineroar rendered Cinderace meaningless. We already have a fire starter. Why would Smash give us another one?
This is awesome.
I think his down throw should be a flair move. Other than that, this is pretty much exactly what I'd like to see in Smash
I’m somewhat doubtful about a new Pokémon given the Sword/Shield spirit event. Not enough to discount it completely given that it was but the first in the wave of spirit events after FP2 was finalized, but enough to question its chances. It almost feels *too* obvious, you know?
I totally agree with the intro. It’s sad that any first party character gets considered at disappointment. In fact sometimes I feel like smash has too many third party characters now and they don’t feel as special since everyone just expects them and wants nothing else. I’m glad to see all these cool and iconic characters, but I hate what they’ve done to speculation..
Can we get an inteleon one too? Not a particular fan of it but we already have the first 2 of the trio
you can't imagine how much I wanted Maxwell (Scribblenauts) and some plant vs zombies representative
Another pokemon I’d think would be a fun addition would be golisopod. It could be a somewhat heavyweight that relies on hit and run tactics based of its ability. And I maybe it could have an ability similar to aura but backwards in which the lower it’s percentage is the stringer it is.
On the one hand, yet another fully-evolved fire starter. On the other, *RONALDHINO SOCCER 64*
Any gen 8 Pokemon would be lame. Doesn't matter which one. Even other first parties would be better.
Agreed
Agreed
Cinderace would be a very fun and interesting character, but I just don't want yet another Fire-Type yet
In game Cinderace nicknamed Brighid. A man of culture I see.
I’m a casual at Smash but how do you determine the ratings scale?
Mostly just instincts, to be honest. I do my best to picture how the character's size, damage output, etc. would compare to the rest of the roster.
