This is crazy. I never thought we shrank so much. I suppose gravity and bone structure after a life of abuse will affect us all.

I've heard about body shrinking... but some of them here blew my mind😮... nice and unique topic brother😃❤️
I thought so! Just a lot more work. Thanks bro 👊
Robert Redford's peak height 5' 11"
It's bullshit. You lose maybe 1/2 inch at most.
Which is exactly how much they lost in this video too lol 1 inch in 2.5cm so idk how accurate the video is but it seems believeable according to the numbers @@westfieldartworks8188
For those who are puzzled by this and don't like research: We have 23 vertebral discs in the spinal column (neck to lower back) which are spongy pads about 1/4-inch each. As they age they undergo wear and tear and get dried out. By 60 you will not be as tall as you once were and the degree depends on genetics and your lifestyle. It's a good idea to be informed about your back because when you get a pain issue, it's hard or almost impossible to alleviate.
Nice 😊
I have one extra for some reason, so that's 24.
@@hj179 That's cheating.🤣
It's all down to genetics and lifestyle. My uncle was 6'3 peak and now at 75 he's 6,2,5.

After 80 is when the real bone density is lost

Thank you so much 😀
I don't think the height loss is due to ageing factor, but it's due to technology and social media that showed to us all the celebrities were lying about their heights
I’m well aware of the misinformation that’s spread regarding heights of celebs. That being said I’ve seen someone in my family who’s now 84 go from 5’5 down to 5 foot, so I know it’s real
@@DataWatch. maybe because he's slouchy at his 80's , but some of the celebrities still with good posture but with 5 inches of height loss like Lundgren or Arnold
@@naturalbodybuildingtips4206 it doesn’t matter how they lost height, they still lost it. We know why Arnie lost it lol
Now why would you question the man's family member, shrinking? He's right. My kate grandfather at his peek height, was 6 feet 3. He went from thst, to being 5 feet 11 inches. Age plays a major in people losing their height. Kareem Abdul Jabar is under 7 feet. His peek height was 7 feet 2.

And you Mike! All the best 🙏
Legs bones are denser than the torso spine , so if you have two people of the same peak height then the one with the shorter legs and longer spine will shrink more.
I’d say that’s definitely true. And it rings true if you look at this video. Taller guys have longer torsos
@@DataWatch. Not necessarily, I'm 6'3 but l have long legs and a relatively short torso
@@carlosfurtado1164 I guess it’s not in all cases then
Some of these are wrong. Danny Devito was 6'4 but suffered a lower back injury resulting in height loss. Doing too much concreting in his earlier days before he became a famous bricklayer.

Height loss is normal, but I think there is also an element of how much they bullshitted in the past.
Happy New Year.
I’ve taken it into account. It’s also another video I plan to make soon. The ones who’ve lied the most
Just their agents probably. "oh, you're 5' 10", we'll just say you're 6' then"
Jean Claude Vandamme.
When I saw a video of a bodyguard hired for Arnold looking over 7’ and Schwarzenegger so small, I wrote a comment about my father who was in their younger days 6’ and die shorter than that (I’m 6’2”) and everyone make fun comments about that because I said that Arnold was no longer a tall man and looked shorter
No. I think considering age although he’s not lost the most he has lost the most out of all the guys under 80
I noticed that with andy griffith.on his old show looked tall but on matlock looked short
Not sure, not looked at him
I do “dead hangs” from a bar every day. It’s not only great exercise, it will keep you from losing height as you age by stretching your spine and improving your posture.
Works for me!
I guess if you are willing to do that then all well and good
Can’t believe the height difference between peak and now, l wasn’t aware the spine shrunk that much over time. Clint Eastwood height surprised me the most.
Your full skeleton will shrink eventually. This accelerates after around 75
@@DataWatch. This is not true.. Bones are hard cartilage hardened by minerals(hydroxyapatite) and *cannot* lose length. I can prove this to you by pointing out that paleontologists can estimate the size of dinosaurs based on the length of their tibia and femur bones. Think about it: even after *millions* of years, bones do not shrink in length.
So why do people lose 1-3" of height with age? It's because the *soft* cartilage that cushions joints degenerate with age. About 4-5" of our height is made by the cartilage and collagen of our knees, hip joints and between our vertebrae. With age, we ru out of chondrocyte stem cell pools, and protein synthesis declines, so this cartilage wastes away.
Also, even though it is impossible for a hard bone to lose length, bones do bend under the weight of gravity. If you look at a very, very old man, say, one that is like 95 years old, the upper part of his spine is so bent that he looks like a vulture.
It is joint cartilage loss + scoliosis and senile lordosis that causes the hight loss that you see in old people. At man at 65 will be 1-2" shorter than in his prime, and when he is over 75-80 he can lose another inch of height.
But believe it or not, if you do an autopsy of a 95 year-old man that used to be 6'4 as a young man and is now barely 6", his "long" bones(tibia, femur and spine) are still *exactly* the same length as they were 75 years before when he was 20 years old and in his prime. Your skeleton does not shrink with age, but your joints do. Also, even though bones don't shorten, they bend, which for all practical purposes is the same as losing length.
Height is "for life" when it comes to actual bone length. Sadly, this is not true when it comes to cartilage and how "straight" the bones stay. So you can lose several inches of height in very old age even if your bones stay the same in terms of length.
Clint Eastwood has dropped almost half a foot?😮
He’s dropped the most yes. I think much of it has been in the past 5/6 years, I remember him being 6 foot plus only a few years ago
Well he's 93. But yeah, that's a lot.
@@randyharris7289 the picture is from 2021. I did find a picture from 2023 but it’s not so clear and you really can see the height loss. Still a legend 👏
@@DataWatch. I dont think it. In first place, Eastwood never was 6´4" barefoot. Probably it was his height with boots. So he was probably 6´2.25 or around it barefoot in his peak. And now i dont think that he is 5´10" really neither, it is by his very bad posture due to his age. If he is in very good posture he probably would be around 5´11 in these days. So, he dropped in the reality 3.5 inches or 4 inches (it is so much yet) MAX. Regards.
@@rinconzellgadiss you are welcome to prove your theory! If you’d seen the 2023 pic I’d seen you’d agree with me. Regarding his peak, 6’3.5 minimum without boots. You can have your opinion but frankly there’s nothing you can tell me that’s gonna change my mind. No way that man lost less than 5 inches knowing what I know
Tom Cruise is 5'5" to 5'8". Depending on whether he wears lifts. On a given day. Ranging from one to three inches. A former publicist outed him. From the "Tiny Tom" height closet. Cruise's publicists have helped him to lie about his height for years. A former publicist for Cruise said that he was not even considered for the "Reacher" TV series role. The producers wanted someone taller than 5'5".
I know all the theories regarding his lift wearing and know he has worn them, you can tell by the fluctuations in height difference between him and his tall girlfriends. However, after spending hours and hours looking at him while making this video I honestly think he can’t be under 5’7 peak. He stands as tall as Nicole Kidman in a handful of their photos, and some of them she’s wearing small heels that would put her over 6 feet. Now lifts will give you some help but if he’s 5’5 or even close he’d have to be wearing stilts in his shoes to be as tall as he is in some of those pictures. I respect your opinion but I have to say I disagree, but thanks for the input
@@DataWatch. He used to claim 5`9 but yeah, I agree that he isn't any shorter than 5`7 at his peak. That is short for a Hollywood leading man.
@@jerryrehard7711 that’s it! It’s not particularly short but for a Hollywood guy it kind of is

@@randyharris7289 I’m only 5’8 so I feel you at 47yr old 🤣

@@jameshorton7496 sounds about right, I’m 5’8 and 47 so I’ll get the same treatment
It happens to us all. My old man was 6'4" when I was growing up, and I'm currently 5'11". In his last handful of years, he was shorter than me.
Some people are questioning these figures and whether it’s possible to shrink. It absolutely is, thanks
Well I had been 5’6” most of my life and now at 65 I’m 5’5½
@@martinriley106 yea that’s pretty normal shrinkage for 65. I’d say from now it will get progressively worse but it can depend on your posture and/or genetics
This happens because older people begin to bend, lose posture, elasticity of ligaments, and the thickness of intervertebral discs. If you engage in sports, maintain good posture, and stay hydrated, it is possible to preserve your height or only lose about 1 inch.
Hopefully people will read and heed the advice
Amazing no one seems to mention these actors who wore professional inserts and heeled boots and shoes to make them appear taller because of insecurities and/or film requirements for scenes. The industry is filled with short people because they fit into the visual frame of a set better. They didn’t shrink so much as they ease off the need to protect an ego after a certain age
Mate it’s been mentioned across my channel on numerous occasions. I take everything into account when making my videos
I once read that a normal person will shrink in height 1/4 inch for every decade after age 40. So if you live to 80, you are down a full inch due to your spine condensing and your feet getting flatter. .
@@donneary7104 I think it’s true from 40-60, but after 60 that starts to increase. I know someone at 84 who’s lost 5 inch

If you live long enough you could drop more
Interesting how much has been ‘taken ‘ from Liam Neesons’s height over the years !
@@Sj4-h8l 🤣
I always think tom cruise is 5'9", in rain man he looked a lot taller than dustin hofmann
@@tiangsae8482 I feel like he towered over Dustin a bit, but I think Hoffman might have lost a bit of height by the time that film was made. And we all know Tom liked a bit of funky footwear
Damn! That mean I'll be under average when I'm an old man!
@@gonzaloNMF lol
So to be tall in the end usually requires more energy to be alive...short guys and girls have some advantage. Tom Cruise is very good indeed.
🤣
Tom Cruise vampire 😂😂😂😂😂😂
All this is telling me is that the men stopped wearing their 2in platforms inside their shoes after 55.
Lol
MIRA VOS .....SI LA ESTATURA SE NOS VA A LA PANZA DESPUES DE LOS CUARENTA.......
😂
I am 6'7 which is a pain so when i am 80 plus hopefully i will come down to 6'5
You’ll be lucky
Of course when ya factor in all the celebs who's height claim is a tall tale(pun intended) and the ones who wear lifts, you'll never know their true heights to begin with.
@@Mudguts-r6x you can find barefoot pics of these guys if you look hard enough. They don’t always wear lifts, but some are guilty of it in the main
Harrison Ford was 6’1” during his prime
@@andrewjankowski9650 I feel like he wasn’t quite that tall. I know that was his height if you google it but I don’t think he was over 6 personally
Danny Devito hasn’t dropped much 😅
I think shorter guys generally lose less
I think we should take up a collection to fund giving Danny back the inch he lost.
@@kepckatherinec805 🤣🤣🤣
That's why he's playing QB for the NY Giants.
They haven't lost more than an inch, but rather lied about their height all their lives.
@@Ticr00 I think elements of what you said is true. I know someone personally who’s lost 5 inches so I know it’s a real thing
A lot of the height loss is due to the fact that some of them stopped wearing lifts and not so much a fact of ageing.
I’m not totally convinced about that. I do think many of them liked those heeled boots, but then again most actors loved them back in the day
Please correct Chuck Norris's height. He’s now at the level of space, so he’s somewhere higher than skyscrapers, he’s just skillfully camouflaged))
I don’t understand the joke. Lots of people commenting about him 🤷♂️
This is true. Just take it on faith. As Shakespeare said - There are many things in the world, friend Horatio, that our sages never dreamed of.
Chuck Norris is cooler than hard-boiled eggs))
@@vseslavpolockiy1173 🤷♂️
Where do you find the exact height ? Diferent sitwebs do not say the same of you for most of it even if i am truly agree with what you said
@@maelsanka8621 I’ve been studying height for years, these are my estimates and not fact

Yes I think so
Chuck Norris now is the same height as Bruce Lee back then
Can’t say I noticed
Happy New Year
And you bob 👊
Accurate report !
😉
Im nearly 80 and still same height as always recently got measured
You’ve done well, pretty much everyone loses height
U haven't lost anything at almost 80? Impressive!! What's your height? At what age did u stop growing?
How tall are u?
Impressive!!
I’m surprised Chuck Norris didn’t grow an inch. 😂
@@jsikes4435 getting quite a few chuck jokes, not that I have a clue what it’s about? 🤣
I'm 78 & know that height reduction is a real thing! At age 19, the Motor Vehicle,( not me), registered my height
at 5'11"! My posture is still excellent for my age & I now stand at 5'8 1/2 inch! Is it bone compression or what?
I've had to reduce the length of my pants from 31" to 30" to 29" & they are starting to be too long! What gives?
I dunno the exact science but I just know it happens 🤷♂️
Old …my friend….we can’t be tall and handsome forever…
@@Goran2551 absolutely 💯
I'm 80 and my peak height was 6ft 1/4 inch. The Doc measured me just yesterday at and even 5 ft 11 inches.. So a 1 1/4 inch drop for me.
