- Today we continue our exploration of the Swiss Alps by hoping on the gorgeous steam boat across Lake Brienz from Interlaken to the town of Brienz itself.
After leaving Interlaken and enjoying the boat ride we stop off at the Giessbach Waterfalls
and hike up and behind the waterfall before finally reaching Brienz.

Seriously, it is. Just came back a few weeks ago and I would say Lauterbrunnen Valley is one of the best places to stay and live out the rest of your lives. Truly heaven on earth, and by any chance you read this comment, by all means at least once, visit Switzerland to experience one of the best places on earth 🙏

Question? The drone shots of the riverboat? (We call those paddle boats LOL) Did you fly from the shore or did you take off from the boat? The shots are amazing. Put those up for sale for stock footage for sure.
I flew and filmed the boat from the river, then went into town, then caught the next one

Don’t underestimate Brienz. It’s the capital of wood carving and nearby there is a park with traditional old houses from all over Switzerland, you can explore also the inside off the beautiful houses and can get a glimpse how the peoples life was in the past.
You can see a chocolate factory from the inside too, it’s actually a working factory. There is a lot more to see, I think it’s the one of the kind place in the world 👀👀👀💯👍👍👍🇨🇭

Would you say the boat ride was worth the price? Considering you can get to Brienz by train for a lot cheaper.
Oh absolutely, not only does it get you from A to B but it’s also an experience, you’ll be on trains 🚂 regardless so why not try these gorgeous boats out

You were there just before the town was evacuated because of the impending rockfall. When it happened, the rocks ended just short of the town, but I don't know if the people are allowed back yet.
Not only beautiful, it is bloody clean. Only downside is heaven on earth will cost me a limb or leg to go there.

So many people think the water of Lake Brienz is photoshopped when they see pictures, happy you show it's not the case. It's just mindblowing how blue/green it gets. Please visit Montreux/Lavaux area next summer. Jazz festival is mostly free in July and a great time.

Absolutely stunning. I feel like I am overusing that word but it's true. I've been to Switzerland twice but both times on bus tours that went through Lucerne. Never saw these places. I need to go back and not on a tour!

Absolutely beautiful! I must go back and explore this stuff. Ridiculous. If you enjoy it there scenery wise you'd definitely love Norway. That place is like the Truman Show it's so unreal. I remember going down the fjords and watching clouds float on fields and thinking fuck me someone is going to pull a curtain up in a minute and clap at me🤷🏻♂️😂
So many people are put off by Switzerland for the prices, crazy thing is it's not that far off UK prices now & the views! They are free 🤩 Absolutely worth it I go every year. I don't recommend fare dodging tho! 😉

Hello from Switzerland, it is not unusual for us that tickets are not checked on public transport, depending on the means of transport and route, it is even limited to random samples (especially trams/buses and regional trains/S-Bahn). However, it is absolutely not advisable to travel without a ticket, because the SBB fine is CHF 90 plus the regular ticket costs for the 1st time, after that it increases significantly and the 3rd time you have to expect drastic consequences. With us, a lot is based on trust, but not blind trust, which means that whoever abuses it has to reckon with the consequences.
About the paddle steamers, I totally agree with you. A good decision was made back then to restore these ships and let them continue sailing, as you mentioned, contemporary witnesses of outstanding interior design and craftsmanship, in a quality and durability that is no longer available today (or could not be paid for).

Just came from there recently about two weeks ago, it was the most stunning place, we stayed in Schwanden Bei Brienz a nice quiet suburb with friendly people and also highly recommend checking out Lauterbrunnen, such a cool place.

Your ticket may not be checked but woe to the person who boards without a ticket and the conductor does check. Swiss fines are very serious, often over 200 franc. They’re very strict with these.

Hello. I hope you'll comme to visit Geneva( nice youth hostel there) and Lausanne. The Leman lac is quite beautiful too you fcan find nice little beaches to swimm, And the asthonishing medieval town of Gruyère with a incredible museum of GIGER ( the creator of the ALIEN movie monsters). So do visit the frensh part of Switzerland. I live near Nyon a small town with a castle and Roman ruins and museum.

We were just there....i doubt you can call that a luxury Boat at Lake Brienz...hahahhaah Got to Schilthorn - Piz Gloria and take a few miles hike to Lake Bachalpsee. Don't forget Trümmelbach Falls in the Lauterbrunnen Valley- Unesco World Heritage site. Paddy you won't regret it.
That was great Paddy! Brienz reminded me of Lucerne minus the floral paintings on the sides of the homes. Otherwise very similar. What a beautiful lake! Spectacular travel and waterfall. You packed perfectly for the conditions Paddy! The sign of a very seasoned and experienced traveler.

It’s so beautiful it’s making me cry thinking about all the years wasted doing an office job I hate, when all I wanted to do was travel. I was like you when I was young backpacked all over, 67 countries then I stopped stupidly and then I couldn’t go back now old and tired and scared. But my heart wants that life so much it is broken to know it’s too late to have it. Never stop. You are so blessed you found a way to live and earn from doing what you love. Your videos are wonderful.

The reason is by buying Swiss travel Pass, most transport is free or discounted. The ferries are paid already by many people. Museums are free too.
