Eric has had one of the most extraordinary lives and careers imaginable….his long battle with drink and drug addictions, tragic loss of his son and musical friends (Stevie Ray Vaughan amongst others), his friendships with the Beatles, collaborations with many greats, his multimillion selling albums….his is a story worth exploring! Stacy, your reaction to this is so heartfelt, it was such a horrible, stupid accident to befall a beautiful, innocent little boy.
I am sure I am in the minority here, but as wonderful as this song is and how it sparks such raw emotion in all of us, for me his emotional masterpiece is "River of Tears". The studio version and the live version have SUCH a different energy, I have never been able to pick a favorite. Just the opening wonderful slow melancholy chord progression instantly puts me into that space where everything else just fades away and there is nothing in the universe but the song.
One of the best at his craft, a tru musical genius! He was broken till he wrote this wonderful song which seem to help him with this tragic moment in his life! A true musical genius!
RIP Conor Clapton. I can’t fathom the depth of loss he feels. I can’t even imagine being able to sing that song just knowing. As a Father listening to this song makes me tear up. Enough to make a grown man cry.
This is the most beautiful song Eric has ever written. I saw him in concert in '98 and he played this song with a 20-piece orchestra behind him. I've since seen him in concert 3 other times, and he always plays this song.
As a man I don't like to admit it, but some songs just make me want to cry. This is one of those songs, I fight it but I do feel my eyes become watery.
Honestly nothing wrong with emotion and a few tears. The man is singing about gis young son he lost who he hopes to see again in heaven. It's heartbreaking. Anyone who has lost someone can feel a part of what he is feeling. The hope to see our loved ones again. It's beautiful and heartrenching.
My dad is a musician, and Eric Clapton is one of his favourite artists. In 1989 we lost my older brother in a tragic drowning accident. He was 12 years old. My dad plays this song quite often. Only once become a parent myself, did it hit me how hard it must have been for him. And you are absolutely correct, we need to allow ourselves to time to cry, to grieve, to be sad, even to rage, but do not stay in that place. Life does in fact move on. You never forget, and the pain never goes away, but you must also allow yourself to be happy and appreciate the everyday miracles of life. Thank you for your raw and honest reaction ❤🩹
Thank you for sharing this story. I am so sorry to hear about your brother. I hope you and your dad are finding peace and healing through this song ❤️ appreciate your sweet words
@@StaceyRPGReacts thank you for your kind reply. I can honestly say that our family came through the fire stronger than before. Bruised and battered, but stronger and at peace. Philipians 4:7
@@StaceyRPGReacts first of all I want to say that I'm a huge cat person myself I rescue newborn and orphan kittens on the streets when I used to live in Atlantic City. But now I live in Washington DC and I want to get back into that again rescuing newborn and orphaned kittens but also on my free time I play with my ukulele and I play Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven"
Written about his 4 year old son, who fell out of a 53rd floor window that was left open. What makes it even more heart breaking is that Eric Clapton was a few blocks away on his way to pick up his son to go to the zoo. Also, it amazes me that he could even write this let alone perform it. The pain, but endurance in this man must be mental.
This song was in the soundtrack to the 1992 movie "Rush", and that's what you see in the video. Another beautiful song by Eric is "Wonderful Tonight". It was written for his wife, and the lyrics contain much of what every woman wants to hear from their husband on a date night. In the official video, there's also an excellent solo by one of the background singers, Katie Kissoon. Eric Clapton has a long solo career, and was in several monster rock bands, including The Yardbirds and Cream in the 60's, and Derek and the Dominos in the early 70's. That band's song "Layla" is thought of as an all-time epic rock song like Stairway To Heaven. The 3-piece supergroup Cream had many hits too, like Sunshine of Your Love, White Room, Crossroads, Strange Brew, Badge, and I Feel Free. His solo work has many great songs too, like After Midnight, Forever Man, Change The World, Cocaine, Lay Down Sally, and I Shot The Sheriff. It's a decades long rabbit hole with Eric.
Eric Clapton has lived an extraordinary life full of up’s & down’s from losing friends & family to battling & overcoming addiction he has written songs about them that we can relate to his heartache with our own to help with closure from grief
Your reaction was very respectful . Especially what you said about other people who had to go through heavy experiences like that. So Eric left a song that can give a little comfort to them.
"Beyond the door, theres peace im sure. And i know there'll be no more tears in heaven" - definetly the best lyrics in the song, so simple yet so touching. The hardest part is letting go, and these words try to comfort the broken soul so it could go through it and mend
Love your reactions! Eric is a legend. This is very different to most of his music. He's one the best blues guitarist ever! It's healthy to let our feelings flow and be released. Crying can help reduce pain and promote a sense of well-being.
Where "normal" people are often at a loss for words, a musician has the opportunity to speak through his instrument. Even without these beautiful lyrics, everyone would be touched by this song.
Hearing this song pre/post fatherhood is so different. A overwhelming thought of “PLEASE, PLEASE don’t let me outlive my child” runs through my mind each time.
Before going solo, Eric was associated with some of the greatest bands in rock history. He first came to national prominence (in the UK) as lead guitarist for The Yardbirds (a band which also served as a training/proving ground for guitarists Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page, yes that Jimmy Page). Eric then joined John Mayall's Bluesbreakers for the classic "Beano" album. He then formed the psychedelic power trio, Cream, with Ginger Baker & Jack Bruce. Over the course of 4 albums in just under 3 years, Cream changed the rock landscape. (I would highly recommend reactions to "White Room," "Sunshine of Your Love," and "Deserted Cities of the Heart," for starters.) Eric then formed the short-lived supergroup Blind Faith with Steve Winwood. (I think you would love "Can't Find My Way Home"). After one BF album, Eric joined Delaney & Bonnie & Friends, essentially as a journeyman guitarist. He then formed Derek & the Dominoes, with whom he recorded the staggering "Layla" album. THEN he went solo. Whew!
Not to mention he played the iconic solo on the Beatles song While My Guitar Gently Weeps and speaking of Fab 4 there was a short period when George left the band and John asked Eric if he wanted to replace him. Eric was unsure what to do on one hand George was his friend and he didn't wanna ruin their friendship. On the other hand he was i guess somewhat thrilled about the idea of becoming a Beatle! Well as we all know that never happened and George eventually came back.
Before the accident Eric had scheduled a studio session with Kate Bush to play guitar on her song "And So Is Love" (from her album The Red Shoes). Despite the accident several months earlier, he kept the date. It was his first time playing since his son Conner's tragic death. Kate said she had tried to get Eric to postpone the recording session so he could have more time to grieve, but he told her no, that playing was the only way he could cope with the tragedy. It's a very emotional song to begin with, and Eric's solo really brings out his feelings.
I saw Eric Clapton in concert several months before his son passed away - my wife was pregnant with our son at the time and after the concert we agreed on the name Conor for our son (this was Eric Clapton's son's name). Fast forward a couple of years later and I saw Eric Clapton in concert again, after the incredible tragedy of his son dying and this song coming out in honor to him. I had second row seats, center stage directly in front of Eric's microphone .. he played this song acoustically, just him on the stage, and I swear that with 20,000+ people in attendance, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. One of the most powerful and moving performances I've ever witnessed. Thank you for a beautiful reaction to this song that holds a special meaning in my heart.
When she said that she'd not heard of Eric Clapton, I felt it like a knife through my heart. Ok,, I'm old. Eric Clapton is Slowhand, God. Labelled as one of the greatest guitarists of all time. But Stacey is young and not a music nerd, so I'll forgive her. This song is one of the most beautiful ever recorded. The emotions come to the surface regularly when hearing this.
This man has set the guitar bar so high from The Yardbirds ,Cream ,Derek and The Dominoes ,and an incredible solo career for one moment to make that all null and still write this for his boy is heart wrenching
Eric Clapton is a legend and has inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame multiple times as a member of bands and as a solo artist. He goes back to the early 1960s and the band The Yardbirds, most famously in the bands Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominoes and has collaborated with many others. More suggestions with go from bluesy hard rock to ballads. The songs Layla, Sunshine of Your Love, White Room, and Wonderful Tonight are good ones.
Your reaction was very heartfelt. I remember hearing about his son. I couldn’t fathom how painful that must have been. Another rock legend who lost a young son was Robert Plant. His 5 year old son died from a stomach virus in 1977 while Robert was touring with Led Zeppelin in the U.S.
The group of great guitarist's who hung out / played / lived together in the music scene in 60's London must have been something to witness .... Eric Clapton , Jimmy Page , Dave Gilmour , Jimmy Hendrix , Jeff Beck , Peter Green , Brian Jones , Pete Townsend etc , etc .... not to mention the likes of Bowie , Jagger , The Beatles etc , etc .... i know there are many more but you get the picture . Mind blowing . I've seen Eric Clapton twice at the Royal Albert Hall in London . Genuine legend .
I lost my girlfriend, she was going through deep depression. This song feels so personal, both the lyrics and the video. She passed away 6 months ago... Now I just wish that when we meet again she recognizes me.
Many years ago, I found my two year old daughter at the bottom of my swimming pool and I jumped in and pulled her out. Luckily, she coughed up the water in her lungs and today she is happily married and has given me two beautiful grand daughters. But what that taught me was to appreciate the time we have with our children and this song is all about the four short years Eric had with his. That could so easily have been me if I was one minute later in going to see where she was. A beautiful song from one of my favourite artists of all time. As a fellow vocalist, I consider Eric Clapton to be one of my all time biggest influencers in my 50 years on stage singing blues and blues/rock.
I had to giggle when you referred to Eric Clapton as a new guy. He has been with us since around 1963 and is usually ranked in the top five greatest rock n roll guitarists by Rolling Stone. He has performed with a bevy of the top stars. Songs I would recommend would be "Crossroads" Live on the Goodbye Cream album, next I would recommend "Can't Find My Way Home" from the Blind Faith album., The song "Layla" is a good choice that includes Duane Allman. There is so much to mine in Clapton's catalog. You could spend weeks there.
Stacey, I wish that I could sit with you and listen to these songs with you. I'm 57 and I've already heard these songs that you've been listening to, hundreds of times, but I really enjoy watching your reactions and hearing your commentary thru fresh ears. I'm so glad that a young person like you is listening to songs from the 60's thru the 80's.........when music was real and it meant something. It was also the best time for the actual music too, not just the lyrics. My favorite decade is the 1970's. I've heard this song by Eric countless times and when I watched and listened to this video with you, I got teary eyed because I was listening to this song for the first time with you. I'm a huge fan of your channel and I always look forward to your next video. I know that they will always be good.
Stacy, your reaction touches my heart. You can imagine when the news of this tragedy broke in thr media... I think it tore through every Clapton fan at the time and it brought me to tears the minute I saw which song of Eric you are listening and reacting to... It means to me that you have soul.. And I think of my 10 year old son sleeping in his room next door... How we as a couple battled to fall pregnant, the many babies we lost, the pain, then Eric's loss of his child... R rntually 18 years later we were blessed with the most beautiful boy... And this song resonates with me every time my boy reaches out for my hand.. With the most unreserved love and confidence.... and the words of this song... Way back when I sang this song wondering if I will ever hold a sons' hand.... To now doing exactly that... And how people take it for granted.... And I think of Eric and his son....
@StaceyRPG Your humanity is showing in your emotional response to the song, I still remember going to work that day in Manhattan walking by that building where everybody was gathering up bringing candles and flowers and cards and crying. And I looking up to the 53rd floor in disbelieve.
Hon, nearly every woman that reacts to this song winds up in tears and Eric won many awards for this tune. You're just being moved by a natural element that he could evoke, but this event changed his entire approach to his life and he has never forgotten it. Amen sister to your reaction from a musician dude that knows his music very well and feels every bit as moved as you do.
This was the song we had played at my sons funeral in 1999.... He died 10 days before his 8th birthday. Stil cryes sometimes when I hear it. I have learned it myself on the guitar and I do play it sometimes. Great reaction. First time reacting to your content. New subscriber here. Keep it up and find out new things. ❤
You hear and feel the sadness and the grieving in the guitar. This song is so close too me, in that I play it at my beloved wife's graveside every time I visit her.
Thanks for such an authentic and honest reaction. As others have pointed out, there is simply no way to overstate the talent, impact, artistry, or artistic legacy of Eric Clapton. Universally recognized as one of the greatest and most influential guitarists of all time, Eric found a way to both maintain his artistic integrity and sell more than *280 Million albums worldwide* as a member of some of the most seminal bands ever and a successful solo artist. While his accolades are too numerous to list, it is worth noting that, even among the greatest and most legendary artists of all time, he is unique as the *ONLY* artist to have ever been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame *THREE TIMES.* I hope you'll continue your exploration into his lifetime of work as both a member of several celebrated bands (Sunshine of Your Love, White Room, Layla, Deserted Cities of the Heart, Crossroads, Strange Brew, Badge, I Feel Free, and Can't Find My Way Home) as well as a solo artist (After Midnight, Forever Man, Change The World, Cocaine, Lay Down Sally, I Shot The Sheriff, and Wonderful Tonight). Finally, he is an incredible collaborator and has featured in several truly memorable tracks, most famously, as the soloist in George Harrison's While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
You are not alone... I shed deep tears every time I listen to this song. He lingers in Heaven with his Son while mourning, and knows he must return to this realm, until that day, not so far away, when they meet again, in Heaven...
My heart crushed when I heard about his little boy Conor and, couldnt imagined how it happened. Always loved his music and been listening since 60's Derrick and the dominos, Cream and the Star himself. Fantastic musician. He will see Conor again reunited as it should be here on earth, the new earth. Psalms 37:29.
I came across your channel a week or so ago and i love the content you put out and how you feel about the songs while also giving your own opinions of meanings. I lost my dad to Covid in 2020 and I’ve missed him every day. I’m sitting here at my desk at work watching your reaction and thinking about my dad and i have tears rolling down my face. Your summary at the end of the video where you state that we all need a release like this is spot on. Glad i have found your channel.
Well Stacey, ive watched a lot of these reaction videos from a lot of different people and i must say you are my favorite. Thats because i can see your emotion is real. You "feel" the music beautifully and that emotion is felt by your viewers. Keep on keeping it real and thank you.
Becoming known in the mid 60's as the guitarist in first the Yardbirds, then John Mayall's Bluesbreakers , and then in the supergroup Cream, he was known as one of the best and most influential rock guitarists. Then, after the groups Blind Faith, and Derek And The Dominos, he began his long solo career in the 70's. For a representation of what he was once known for, try Cream's live version of "Crossroads" from the 1968 Cream album Wheels of Fire. The movie clips are from the movie Rush, for which Eric wrote the soundtrack.
Stacey I never do comments, but your reaction was amazing! It was so sincere, mature, sensitive and heartfelt that I cried every tear with you. You're obviously a beautiful woman, and your inner beauty is so touching and human that I believe you have a special gift. I hope it takes you to wonderful places and I look forward to future reactions from you. I honestly feel Eric Clapton would thank you as do I.
The video is when the song was used for the movie Rush (1991) which was very good and brutally sad. All the footage is from the movie, it's not a random young couple that represents Clapton and his partner. The film is based on a true story of two undercover narcotics agents in Texas in the 1970s.
This song has special meaning to me. My wife and I had been desperately trying to have a child for nearly 15 years. We even had doctors tell us we would never have them. We tried one last ditch treatment. We were waiting for the results of said treatment when my wife started cramping and bleeding. We knew this was not normal. I played this song about 50 times the next day. Mourning the loss of a child that never was. Grief from hope dying. This song expressed my grief and kept me sane.
The people you see in the video are actors Jason Patrick and Jennifer Jason Leigh. The song was also part of the soundtrack for the movie Rush in 1991.
Makes me cry too every time I hear this. Yesterday our 18 year old male Siamese cat Theo died. Although the euthanasian process was painless involving sedation first, I can't help but wonder if he knew what was happening. He was so weak and it was so sad because he refused to eat and all the water in the world isn't enough to sustain life by itself. I think he knew the end was coming and accepted it before we decided to take action to end his suffering. He was a very good cat and part of our family for all those years. I'm in no way equating this to losing a child or family member but it hurts just the same. This was our 3rd cat since being married 36 years. You build a lifelong bond with each one and that doesn't go away ever.
Another song written for an artists' son who passed... Led Zeppelin - "All Of My Love" The lead singer, Robert Plants son, Karac, died at 5 years old, August 1, 1977
Stacey, Since you love Led Zeppelin and Robert Plant so much, Robert also wrote a song about loosing his son Karac at age 5 in the middle of a concert tour that he had to cancel. It is widely believed that the song “All My Love” by Led Zeppelin is about the death of singer Robert Plant‘s young son, Karac. Plant wrote the song not long after Karac’s passing, and it is thought to be one of the most personal and emotive songs in the Led Zeppelin catalogue. The lyrics, which are full of love and loss, seem to perfectly capture the pain and grief that Plant was undoubtedly feeling at the time.
Eric wrote the best song about tragic loss I have ever heard. Loved your emotional reaction. Clapton is widely considered (on many lists) as the greatest guitar player in the world. Fun fact: he is the only three time inductee into the rock hall. As a solo artist, with Cream, and the Yardbirds.
Eric goes back to the 60s. He's been in numerous bands. 3 of the iconic ones are, Cream, Derek & The Dominos, & The Yardbirds. Plus a solo career. One of the greatest guitar players ever. Rock and Blues. Dive in on his music. Also, in Hall of Fame multiple times. Note : Jimmy page of Led Zeppelin was in Yardbirds too... before Zep🙂
I appreciated you're sensible comments that showed both a mature philosophical perspective and your real genuine emotions that showed your deep ability to sympathize with the horrible things that happen, and the heartache can life can bring us. You've got a lot to give and I hope you will continue to share it.
Hola Stacey.
Such a beautiful, respectful, and heat felt reaction Stacey. I remember when this all happened, it was so shocking and sad. This is one of the most emotionally charged songs ever written.
A brilliant guitarist with a fantastic voice. Clapton is good friends with Mark Knopfler, lead singer and guitarist of Dire Straits. I'd really suggest you checking them out; their songs "Sultans of Swing", "Telegraph Road", "Tunnel of Love", and "Brothers in Arms" are all masterpieces, but they have many more hits.
You can never go wrong with Eric Clapton. One of the all time great singer/songwriter guitarists. In addition to his solo efforts, years with the bands the Yardbirds and Cream, he also played lead guitar on the classic Beatles George Harrison track 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps', as well as appearing in the Who's rock opera/movie 'Tommy' where he performed 'Eyesight to the Blind.' You should definitely check those out as well.
You wouldn't be human if that song didn't make you cry especially knowing why it was written....you are doing a great job don't let anyone tell you differently 👍👍😋
Hey Stacey - thank you for your deeply emotional and honest reaction to this song. Your perspectives were raw and real and appropriate. We all need music like this - it helps us grieve, to heal, to grow, to adapt, to survive, and to relate to each other. And yes, you'll cry every time you hear it... we all do. What a tragedy - and as you said, what a musical tribute as well that we can all understand in our own way. Stay strong!
Glad to hear to listen to Clapton, he's been around since the 70's with his rock and roll and also slow blues music check it all out, anyway this song is special to me, someone I was with for only a short time, but she made this our song now she's gone,
My son drowned in 2000 and I still can't listen to this without breaking down. I absolutely won't listen to it in the presence of another person. I can't imagine performing this on stage and don't know how Clapton can do it
Around 1965 or 1966 on a London wall you could read "Clapton is god", which referred to his blues guitar playing during that time period. Only later he became the great singer and songwriter you can hear here. Still active today, so more than 50 years of a great career with lots of success, but pain and heartbreak too. Always authentic and recognizable. Other great songs: "Layla" as Derek and the Dominoes, "Wonderful tonight", "I shot the Sheriff", "Cocaine" and many others
Such a beautiful song, it shows the power of music to communicate emotively, straight to the heart, adding another layer to words. I hope the situation you mentioned about yourself has been resolved to a good conclusion. Thank you.
I was born sooner after this song came out and it was over the radio. I was very sick in my first year and the prognosis wasn’t good. My dad has said he couldn’t listen to this song without thinking about me and the worst case scenario. Thankfully the doctors were wrong and 31 years later I am still here. Without a doubt one of the most heartbreaking songs ever written.
I believe you would appreciate the song "Life Without You" by Stevie Ray Vaughn (one of Eric Clapton's musical compatriots) at the Capital Theater in Passaic, NJ. It was an ode to SRV's late friend, Charlie Wirtz. Be sure to note the change of guitars after the song begins and how flawlessly SRV plays without interruption. Love your reactions!
The context behind this song. ,Such an emotional outpouring he gives. They used this song in a movie (Rush), the director initially did not want to use it because it was just too emotional. but Eric really wanted them to use it. I feel the video clips from the movie actually distract a bit... and maybe that is a good thing, it would be such a raw listen.
The Rush soundtrack is woefully underrated. There's another Clapton song on there, "Help Me Up," that obliquely addresses the same feelings of loss, but is more upbeat. I think it's worth hearing.
is a ballad by Eric Clapton, written with Will Jennings in 1992 and dedicated to his son Conor (he had with the Italian showgirl Lory Del Santo), who died in 1991 at just 4 years old, falling from the 53rd floor of a building in New York. And is the soundtrack form movie Rush.
I agree that we can all relate to one degree or another. I feel that way about friends and family who I’ve lost and animals I’ve lost. I take them all pretty hard. As do most of us. Sucks. Just sucks.
What a heart felt, pure, and profound reaction to an otherwise warm and tragic release... Eric Clapton shines with his breadth of talent and life experiences!
Eric Clapton is considered by many to be one of the greatest guitarists of all time. Now that you've heard him and Gilmour, you've experienced two absolute guitar masters.
Amazing to hear you say new artist 😂jk anyways a beautiful song for his son. Please if you want to hear his blues ability live Check out his live version of "old love" think it's on eric clapton and friends
the movie playing in the background of this video is an absolute emotional rollercoaster as well. to me, it fits the song more so than the other way around.
Eric had such a varied career, some dark moments, sadness, life long friends with George Harrison, listen to the tribute he and many musicians did in concert for George, Geoff Lynn, Billy Preston, Tom Petty, George’s son Danni and many more, ‘Something’ is such fabulous tribute.
Beautiful review dear ! You and Eric had me in tears! Are you a literature graduate? A journalist? Awesome review. You are beautiful even in your sadness ❤😢🙏
The absolute joy of this tune is look st the backdrop, all those guitars and drums would of been filled, the guy is the lead singer for the Cream, he wrote 'Layla'....but he sat down by himself and played for his son... absolutely beautiful ❤️
Another song Eric wrote for his young son Conor, was a bittersweet ballad called "Circus" from the album "Pilgrim". In the song, Eric recalls a trip to the circus with his boy the day before his death. This experience proved to a powerful bonding experience for apprehensive parent Clapton, which led to a personal decision to commit himself to being a more engaged parent. Tragically, he never got the opportunity. He was actually on his way to the apartment where his son and estranged girlfriend were staying in order to take them to the zoo, when he noticed a clamoring of people around the building right after the accident, which he thankfully didn't investigate further. As a parent, I can imagine the horror and despair felt by both parents of this beautiful child. R.I.P. Conor Clapton.
You aren't human if this song doesn't bring tears to your eyes. And, as you say, you don't have to lose a child of your own to feel Eric's pain. They say that's the absolute worst heartache one can experience - that of losing a child .....
I lost my dad when I was 9 to a car accident. I keep torturing myself with this song, I miss him so much, wish I had him now to see his grandkids grow and enjoy them, I hope up in Heaven he's proud of the man I came to be and the men I'm raising.
"Would you know my name if I saw you in heaven?" is one of the most heartbreaking lyrics, given the context of the song.
Yes
Very sad tale, and I felt Erics pain ever since that day.!@❤😢😢
@@lananiellaThe live version is imo far better than the studio one but yes the lyrics are just as much heartbreaking as the ones in Tears in Heaven.

He went through the loss of Jimi too❤
RIP Conor Clapton. I can’t fathom the depth of loss he feels. I can’t even imagine being able to sing that song just knowing. As a Father listening to this song makes me tear up. Enough to make a grown man cry.

I lost my wife in a horrible way, I was broken for a long time, this beautiful song gave me peace and forgiveness 😢
This is the most beautiful song Eric has ever written. I saw him in concert in '98 and he played this song with a 20-piece orchestra behind him. I've since seen him in concert 3 other times, and he always plays this song.
Was that at the Palace of Auburn Hills? i was at that one, pretty sure it was 98. Great show!!
He says he won’t perform this anymore, since it makes his band so sad.
@@drieuxkoeppel8152 He actually started playing it again in 2013, and has played it since then.

Clapton once said in an interview he found writing and preforming the song extremely therapeutic.
Heartbreak sadly usually leads to the most beautifully crafted story
A very, very deep rabbit hole, and what a journey to undertake. He is incredible and well worth the time to take that trip into his music.
Thank you for saying EVERYTHING i wanted to say 🍻
Just a note of emphasis, "Wonderful Tonight" was written for George Harrison's wife, not his own wife.
I think the scenes from 'Rush' detract from the ability to really feel this song. The MTV 'Unplugged' version is my favorite.
Absolutely.
"And i know there will be no more tears in heaven" gets the water works everytime.
I'd suggest "Layla" for a dose of up-beat Clapton
Where "normal" people are often at a loss for words, a musician has the opportunity to speak through his instrument. Even without these beautiful lyrics, everyone would be touched by this song.
What Eric Clapton couldn't openly cry, he put it in his song. . . And when he finally sang it, the whole world cried with him.
Tears fell, like rain.
Beautifully said.
That's when you know the pain is strong af
tears in 2024

Very well put.
one of the most beautiful songs ever written
They don't make songs like these anymore... it's what defines true musical artists. thank you for your beautiful reaction. 💙
You should listen to Ren if you want someone new with talent and authenticity. Also an incredible range
STACEY - What he said.
And don't forget his stint with B B King.
36 years old grown man here in tears.. I can't imagine singing that song after such loss. Touched my heart
67 year old here, tears.
Eric is the only person that's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 3 times.
This song will always be an emotional punch in the gut
His guitar both cries with him and comforts him at the same time. The music is as powerful as the lyrics.
@StaceyRPG
Your humanity is showing in your emotional response to the song, I still remember going to work that day in Manhattan walking by that building where everybody was gathering up bringing candles and flowers and cards and crying. And I looking up to the 53rd floor in disbelieve.
This beautiful song was played at my beautiful son Daniels funeral.
I couldn't put in words what it means to me.
Thank you. 💞
I've heard this song many many times and watched every reaction video yet it still brings on the waterworks each time.
Clapton has a huge music library. Get ready to go down a rabbit hole of great music.
The Clips in the video are from a movie I believe called Rush, this song was featured in that movie
Eric Clapton is named "God" of guitars. He is one of bests of history of Rock/Blues/R&B. Thanks for racting to him. You're fantastic 👏👏👏
You need to do deep dive into Eric Clapton's music. One of the greatest musician/guitarists ever.
The young couple was footage from the movie “Rush”, this song was on its soundtrack. It was a great movie as well ✨
You are not alone...
Always loved his music and been listening since 60's
Derrick and the dominos, Cream and the Star himself.
I've heard this song so many times and yet I cried with you.
The "Live" recording of this song is much more impactful. An instant classic.
Led Zeppelin - "All Of My Love"
The lead singer, Robert Plants son, Karac, died at 5 years old, August 1, 1977
A true artist always has a way of carrying you with them on their journey....
Your pure reaction is amazing! You are feeling the emotion Eric put into the words and music!
This song makes me cry every time I hear it, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
One on the greatest singer-songwriter /guitarists of our era, we are blessed to have such artists and their music in our lives
She has such a soulful Heart and great Insight.......Enjoy your channel 🤩
The context behind this song. ,Such an emotional outpouring he gives. They used this song in a movie (Rush), the director initially did not want to use it because it was just too emotional. but Eric really wanted them to use it. I feel the video clips from the movie actually distract a bit... and maybe that is a good thing, it would be such a raw listen.
ahhhh i didnt know those clips were from the movie! that makes sense.
Thank you again for this honest reaction. You dont try to hide your vulnerability ,emotions on the surface Erics song is the same
Amazing to hear you say new artist 😂jk anyways a beautiful song for his son. Please if you want to hear his blues ability live Check out his live version of "old love" think it's on eric clapton and friends
Thanks!
Wow thank you!! Appreciate your generosity and kindness ❤️
The empathy and emotion you feel on your reactions ...😢
the movie playing in the background of this video is an absolute emotional rollercoaster as well. to me, it fits the song more so than the other way around.
I cry every single time I hear this song. Haven't heard it in a long long time. Amazing!
You got to be the most authentic I’ve seen for real. Gotta feel that music 💯
