Yeah if the feds did their job and prevented the illegals from coming in, this wouldn't be an issue. It's like inviting a guest over but rather than enter through the doorway they feel compelled to climb in through your daughter's window in the middle of the night.

The bipartisan legislation that was killed by Trump and Republicans provided funding for more law enforcement and additional personnel to handle the huge backlog of asylum cases. That would have gone a long way to helping with this problem. This new law may be of significant help but I think it will also put immense financial pressure on local law enforcement as they will have to come up with the additional funds for arresting, processing and deporting illegals back to Mexico. Given the thousands who are crossing illegally at the border I am doubtful that local police will be able to put much of a dent in reducing the numbers. But I could be wrong.

Simple in concept, difficult in practice. 6 to 33 months to process an application on top of a 1.5 to 3 year long backlog for applicants. Its a bad system, if it worked better illegal immigration would drop.

If you actually understood the Constitution, you would understand that the Constitution outlines several varieties of rights: a set for citizens, of course, but also a set of generic human rights that are allowed to every human being in the United States. You can't defend a document you've clearly never read.
Our laws and constitution protects everyone within our borders...and applies to all people physically located here. The constitution does not protect a US citizen when they are in a foreign country.

Texas should be its own country
Texas couldn't support itself without the welfare from the Fed: it historically takes more Fed money than it contributes in taxes. Very few states, all of them Blue, could actually function without the US Government handing them money.

Not even remotely. Texas is a net contributor. Submitting roughly $300B in tax remittances, and receiving back roughly $60B in grants and services.
Abbott should withhold all federal tax remittances until the border is secure. Imagine the big, beautiful wall they could build with a quarter trillion. 😊
