And you guys act like that's nothing. It's like saying what did MJ do without Scottie. News flash... you need all time teammates to get a ring! He would've had rings before going to GSW too, but if you look at Westbrooks playoffs numbers, he's literally the worst in NBA history in real clutch scoring. He was a disaster in the playoffs. I actually personally think JJ is right, KD is underrated because he should also be getting Lebron treatment because he is RELATIVELY as good as he said (15 straight 25ppg seasons, multiple championships and mvps).
What I think JJ is meaning and everyone who agrees is that KD isn’t getting ENOUGH spotlight treatment. Like we all still respect the Suns a whole lot from a playoff perspective but in regards to how we look at Lebron n stuff I think KD is a little undervalued or at least under recognized by the entire basketball community. I know I personally haven’t given KD his flowers as much lately but that’s also literally because Lebron hit Major milestones and is still lethal at the 8-9-10 seed.

Not underappreciated. Undercriticized. For someone who people has argued is better than LeBron, he doesn't get LeBron like criticism. JJ is right. Instead of talking about how KD has been playing great this season we’re still getting “where is his leadership?” “Can he win without Steph” “why KD is not in the goat conversation” discussions. Stop talking like the book of his career is closed, he’s still playing at a high level and we don’t know what could happen. Keep in mind what KD has been able to do post an Achilles tear is nothing short of insane but they gloss over that too.

even when perk's saying normal stuff he makes it sound dumb. the perspective of JJ on this was that KD is often ignored. No one is appreciating his game, despite the fact that he is currently averaging almost 30 ppg this season. his last week was amazing, the man is turning 36 this year, the production he has, we ignore it because of the narrative around him. JJ is right again, and perk just wants to say whatever so that he is a part of the discussion.

    • @FPSLarryIII

a 73 win team that lost to lebron in the finals. there is context that is needed. KD has 2 finals MVPs that no one argues, because he was the best player on that team. I get the whole argument that he is not a leader or that you wouldn't want to build around him, but he is literally one of the best pure scorers ever. incomplete as a player but what he does no one else can do. as for the superteam argument its the same thing again. he's not a leader, so you need a pseudo number 1 option on the team regardless of him, which is how he works out. on the nets there was no one as good, and on the suns they came close to winning precisely because booker and CP3 together made up that number 1 option. If the suns win a chip KD would again probably be the FMVP.

His style of play is “everything and everywhere” making him the most selfless player we’ve seen since Magic. Imagine if he chose the “Jordan Killer Instinct/Mamba Mentality” he’d average 45 a game and would have passed the all-time scoring record 5 years ago. The comment done less with more is completely wrong and missing context.
OKC: when they went to the finals, Durant showed up. It was Harden who was still very young to struggled mightily and Westbrook who was playing out of control.
With the nets: the team gutted the roster to get James Harden only to have Harden and Kyrie get hurt in the playoffs. Otherwise that team would’ve easily won the next couple of finals. Then Harden asks for a trade and the team gets less than Pennies on the dollar.
Durant is not the leader that James is and doesn’t know how to motivate people, but as a talent and player, he’s right there with everyone.

KD joining the warriors is equivalent to Jordan joining the Celtics after losing to them or Kobe joining the Spurs dynasty after losing to them. Of course Jordan and Kobe would be the finals mvp but that’s because they went to a system that was already successful. Neither would get credit for taking the easy route to a championship. Instead they remained with their team and built around themselves to lead a team to multiple rings.

Those are all things people say when he's being described. Now if he wants to be Goated , then yes we are going to line up what he's done with other Goats (MJ, Bron etc.) and he doesn't quite measure up.
