@DracodaTRN Also, the media in Beijing was under strict rules that any glitches or mistakes were NOT to be made public. They went to a lot of trouble in keeping everything looking flawless.
@OlderG0ds If your interested it was built for EXPO 86 unfurtanatly thats about all I know but when I was there last it was a really cool place and definatly a landmark of Vancouver
I don't know who did the pyro, but I would agree based on the clip posted that it (the pyro) could have been a lot better..but that has nothing to do with being Canadian. It has everything to do with the specific supplier they chose, the product they used and their experience as well as knowledge of close proximity pyrotechnic effects.
That roof wouldnt catch on fire that easily...its a 27 year old Teflon fabric. Its been thru many, many fireworks shows on the inside. And even if it did burn a hole or two...its going to be taken off within the next 6 months to start construction on the new retractable fabric roof.
Like albertanjake said, normally, the geodesic dome is Science World - a fun place for kids. During the Olympics, it's turned into the Russian Pavilian, aka Russky House.
I want to see the real opening cermony in Vancouver cause i was about to go to real vancouver and see all of the sports and i was going to stay at a hotel and come to every event but all the tickets were out we litraly packes and i held the olympic torch cause my friends dad held the olympic torch in Milton and he brang it to our class and he gave each of us a chance to hold it so it was amazing
@namm3rboi Yeah I have punk. I go by that corner every day on my walk home from work. Are you saying that poor people make this city ugly? Because I've known people from there, and they're totally as in to this city and what it stands for as any person from the west side, north shore, west end, or suburbs.
Some people care....like the fact that the First Nations were recognized, and without them, many of us wouldn't be here. Ever think about that?? They WERE here first, and no one seems to comment on that!! Ignormae that you are!!
What do you expect? Its suppose to be short , to symbolize the start of the games, not some long drag fest that drags on for an hour, people dont care about long fireworks. During the ending ceromonies in Richmond Olympic Oval they has 10 minute fireworks, so watch the video, dont be sore that Canada got the Olympics and Norway didnt.
I'd just like you to know that Archangel Fireworks of Winnipeg, Manitoba has won the Celebration of Light international fireworks competition in Vancouver in 2007 and 2008. So before you start passing judgement on Canadian pyrotechnic firms, perhaps you should do your homework first, because a Canadian firm blew firms from other "pyrotechnical powerhouses" out of the water, literally!
You captured a beautiful view.
@DracodaTRN Also, the media in Beijing was under strict rules that any glitches or mistakes were NOT to be made public. They went to a lot of trouble in keeping everything looking flawless.
that is beautiful! thanx!!!
@OlderG0ds If your interested it was built for EXPO 86 unfurtanatly thats about all I know but when I was there last it was a really cool place and definatly a landmark of Vancouver
