This reminds me of the person I love, his father is against because I don’t fit into his idea of a good match for his son, and now he’s living in another country. We started as friends, and we never really dated, it’s that famous status of “complicated”, but now we went back to friendship because he’s having some mental issues, and lying to his father is making worse. We love each other so much and we are so similar and different at the same time, it’s amazing just to say hi to him. I don’t wanna be a blind romantic person, but I don’t want to just give up because it’s the easier way. I don’t believe in the spiritual soulmate thing, but in a symbolic way I do believe we are. I get inspired by Normal People, because they went through so much, and still they made it work.
It's one of the best scenes in the series. it's frustrating to see them struggling to communicate the love they have for each other. The book sheds more light with the inner dialogue they are having.
I liked the book. I found it a little challenging to read because she bounced around the timeline in it. The characters are great in it and the series sticks pretty closely to the book. The mental health issues are little more serious too in the book.
@@TerrillFischer I agree at first, but I think it got a lot easier after awhile. Though the only time it frustrated me the most was when Rooney decided to bounce back and forth around the moment when Connell, Marianne, Jamie, Peggy and the other two were having their meal and champagne. I just thought "get on with it" lol
Even though I haven't watched the series, most of the lines in these clips are taken straight from the book, so I know which part of the book it is just from the dialogue
Marianne is the only person who knows how to deal with Connell and his depression/ anxiety. She is just calm when she says don’t get anxious. Everything is fine. We all know it isn’t but Marianne knows how he gets and in her own way she is trying to stop him from getting nervous and upset.
They can never truly be just friends. They burn for each other too much. Inexplicably and sometimes even when they don't want to. You can never be just friends after that.
I’ve just finished reading the book and wanted to see some scenes from the show to compare and I love how true it is to the source material. They have been loyal to every detail and made it look natural and real. Bravo.
I love this scene 😭 I love how honest their communication is and I love the way the actors convey it. but I was very concerned about that ice lolly she’s just left on the floor... it would have melted and the floor would be sticky!!
I love the gesture in the end where he reaches out for her hand It's something I've realized I do a lot and I think it shows a lot of feelings without having to speak out loud
Idk if people miss that. I think it’s pretty obvious from her history of abuse that she sabotages relationships. She seems her most genuine and comfortable with Connell though. Maybe while he is in NY she will get some counseling too….and then they find their way back to each other again.
I love this series they acted it so well you felt what they were acting so well put together wish I had read the book first though wonder if it tells you why there is issues with her brother wish there was another series
Proper recognition at last. Daisy E-J has been nominated for the 2021 Golden Globes for her role as Marianne in Normal People according to the Evening Standard of 03/02/21. [ Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology or TV Movie] About time too! Excellent news; well done Daisy for your brilliant performance. What a beautiful, intelligent women with maturity that belies her age! However, Paul Mescal was snubbed.
Do you have a career? And how important is a career to you? Would you be able to have that career in his city? If not of that matters and you feel like you don't want to be away from them, go with them. Or you could try to be away and visit them. You may discover that you rather stay there. If it doesn't work out, you can always move back. Don't make it more complicated than it has to be :)
You look young. Not saying your experiences in relationships and love are nothing at that age, but as you grow and experience more pain and difficulties, I think you’d relate to this series more.
@@sofiaguerrero0969 probably have to give it ago again when they a little older, I reckon. It's an amazing show, but wouldn't expect children to understand, unless they do of course.
“I guess we just misunderstood each other” basically sums up the whole series
so true and in real life too
She was always very straightforward he was literally the one making it harder than it had to be
Love the line that follows...
"I think it's pretty obvious I don't want you to leave"
"I don't find it obvious what you want"
No. They could never just be friends. They have that soulmate connection.
Winfield Nickie true, but I’d rather have a stable relationship than a “will they, won’t they” relationship. I think it’s healthier.
@@jordyh.5243 less stressful too!!!
Jordy and Steven, clearly not romantics… even when it doesn’t relate to them.

oh it's a book?
You can feel every word that they say, the chemistry and acting in this scene was incredible and moving.
So true, i have just seen all the episodes and i'me just obsess. It's seems so true and authentic. I love seeing them together
"I forgot there was a match on, to be honest."
I love that line. Immediate solidification that all he is thinking about is her.
1:25 "I guess we just misunderstood each other", the show.
"I'm never lonely when I'm with you". I love how poignant, authentic and meaningful the dialogue in this script really is! 💗😻

The way he subtlety hyperventilates and reach for her hand at the end. Just......magic.
They circle and circle but can never get to the heart of what they want from one another. It’s maddening.
I've never seen depression so accurately portrayed. This is grounded as hell.
They can never truly be just friends. They burn for each other too much. Inexplicably and sometimes even when they don't want to. You can never be just friends after that.
They are truly just two normal people
This whole incredibly long and complex scene is so amazingly good and so real that it actually makes my stomach hurt when I watch it.

U CAN FEEL THE WEIGHT OF THEIR UNSPOKEN WORDS IN THE ROOM SUFFOCATING THEM
They are really good actors.
The acting is so amazing 😭
the “I forgot there was a match on to be honest”
The delivery is perfect...so (for lack of a better word) normal.
ppl miss the simple theme that marianne sabotages herself and everyone she loves

Read the book
Where are you hoping to move from ?

If you have that connection and he feels it too, then go. Be together. I’ve lived it. Still married with 2 kids almost 22 years later.
