As an engineering student and a maker I have come to two realizations A) you never stop making you're always thinking about your current project B) how much art and science truly meld into one awesome amalgam. Thank you Adam
I had the pleasure of meeting Karen, about two weeks ago, at an event in Manhattan. She’s a truly warm and passionate soul. Thank you for letting her share her wealth of knowledge!
Considering the fact that Adam's dad worked on sesame street i was half expecting them to pull out some of his original work. Would be cool to see that, and Adam's reaction to it.
I wonder how many people know "the Muppet Show" was essentially a British production ... Produced by Lew Grade for Associate television in 1976, that's why you have so many Brits involved with it in the early days (John cleese, Peter Ustinov, Bruce Forsyth, Twiggy, etc etc) . It was filmed at Elstree Studios in the UK, and made to look "American" :)
The two old dudes up in the balcony (I could google the names to look like I know what I'm talking about)as a kid watching when they first aired, they were so funny and their heckling stands up over time.
@@gloriouslyimperfectit’s just the American networks the main ones weren’t interested and wouldn’t pick it up. They did 2 pilots for ABC, the first one they liked and the second one they lost interest. It’s like first time you had them second time you lost them 😂
Jim Henson was such a visionary for child and adult entertainment. I loved the labayrnth and dark crystal. And of courses the muppets. Thanks Tested for doing these shorts eps about the Jim Henson company. 😀
We graduates of the University of Maryland are so proud that Jim Henson studied there! They did a great show of his student art work years ago. Still remember it with love! ❤
Henson was a creative genius and the heart of the Muppets. After his passing, the Muppets lost some of their sweet innocence and timelessness - the jokes became just a little coarser and tied more to today. How I love Jim's Kermit and Frank's Fozzy.
Uh Huh. So Mark Hammil, Debbie Harry etc being on the Muppet show at the height of their and The Muppets fame wasn't tied to it's time? Piggy's sexual urges were there from day one too.
A few lines on paper creates a character that is identifiable as a Henson puppet. Extraordinary talent that was refined to maximum expression with minimal drawing. A true genius.
I am so jealous of you, Adam, (i think i said it on a previous video too) to be able to see and experience all these Henson/Muppet/Puppeteering things! They have given so many of us (especially me) laughter and joy. Jim (and the people who worked around him) sure was something special
The sketches introduced at 7:35 are identical to the muppets used in a sketch from the muppet show. I remember its original showing with one singing “you are my sunshine” while being repeatedly gassed by the other puppet.
Gosh..I must've watched The Dark Crystal at least a dozen times as a kid. I didn't make the realization until much, much later when I heard about his passing. I was barely in HS at the time all those years ago... He passed away far too soon but what an amazing legacy he left for the rest of us...
Jim Henson did the SciFi Show, Farscape*! * The series was conceived by Rockne S. O'Bannon and produced by The Jim Henson Company and Hallmark Entertainment. The Jim Henson Company was responsible for the various alien make-up and prosthetics, and two regular characters (the animatronic puppets Rygel and Pilot) are entirely Creature Shop creations.
One of my all time favorite science fiction shows. :) The Creature Shop characters are 100% part of the main cast. Quite interesting! I’m not sure if any other “serious” show for adults has ever used puppets as main characters.
Ms Falk, if you are seeing this, you guys should seriously put out a book with pictures from the Henson archives. I think it would sell very well ❤ Even a DVD/Blu-ray of the early skits before The Muppet Show!!
It’s so weird hearing that Jim had big hands, I saw his hand prints at Hollywood studios and Disney world and ours are the exact same size. And after making my own Kermit puppet awhile back it’s good to know that it’s to scale since mine fit inside.
I love that moment when I was young by 2019, when a skull ates the pink mask and tried to eat a Muppet woman singer with her leg, and in the Glow-Worm, a creature had ate two worms 🐛, and he saw a larger nose 👃, he is eating it and pulling it, and he pulls the bigger nose which transformed into a giant purple monster with a gigantic nose, and the monster 👿 eats the creature and the creature was never seen again, just like The Ed Sullivan Show.
It amazes me that Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon (don't know about Disnay+ but I think it's the same), with so much teen soap-operas there isn't One with puppets... Not ONE! 😓
The camera person was like 7ft away saying, “don’t want to interrupt your conversation. I can see it from all the way over here.” Someone, please let the camera person get closer to the photos. And get the person a gimbal.

She is SO amazing. We could have been there for hours.
Jim Henson was such a natural, genuinely fun genius.
I’m so excited for all this Jim Henson content!
Considering the fact that Adam's dad worked on sesame street i was half expecting them to pull out some of his original work. Would be cool to see that, and Adam's reaction to it.
I didn't know that!

What did Twiggy do? How do I not know this! I need to know. ❤
This is because they couldn’t find producers and funding here in the states.

I picked up The Labyrinth on DVD a couple weeks ago at a used entertainment store, first time I'd seen the movie in at least 30-yeras.

@4:34 -- I love the binder clip holding on the mic pack! That's a genius idea!

Jim Henson was one of the greatest humans of all time, in my opinion. Thanks for giving us this look inside his inner workings.
Always a good day when a new Tested video comes out.
The sketches introduced at 7:35 are identical to the muppets used in a sketch from the muppet show. I remember its original showing with one singing “you are my sunshine” while being repeatedly gassed by the other puppet.
I found Jim Henson's business card about 15 years ago. Circa 1960s or 70s perhaps. What a visionary

Wow, I haven’t heard that voice in almost 20 years and she hasn’t aged a day! Go Karen!
i love the slight wall-eyed thousand yard stares. hope to be able to capture that in some doodles
What a wonderful look at this truly precious stuff. The Muppets and Sesame Street were such a big part of my childhood.
There should be a museum for all this stuff.
Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta has a large collection of Henson materials on display.
Jim Henson did the SciFi Show, Farscape*!

I love Rygel
The drawing of the little girl puppet made me think of Prarie Dawn.
unreal!!! would love to see more from the archive!
I love how the genius that is Adam is obsessed with puppets. ❤❤❤❤
Such an amazing collection.
I like how she gives credit to other creatives involved.
One of my dream jobs when I was younger was to work at the "Creature Shop". Never happened, but I would still love it.
As a history student who wants to go into archives and loves puppets, I will be doing ANYTHING I CAN to get my fingies on a job here
8:15 that interruption was a trainwreck
Ms Falk, if you are seeing this, you guys should seriously put out a book with pictures from the Henson archives. I think it would sell very well ❤ Even a DVD/Blu-ray of the early skits before The Muppet Show!!
7:35 you keep showing that puppet, so I'm guessing ya don't see it. Makes it so much funnier! Even has a reservoir tip.
3:59 she was not happy with Adam touching the paper...
Thank you.
Always down for puppet related content
Does anyone know where one could attain a print or downloadable version of the drawing from 5:32?
Fantastic job, Karen! Fran B
So cute !
Wonderful items
Fascinating
Around the 9:30 min, the chars on the right look like some out of the PC game Commander Keen.
1:10 Won't Disney even let them say the name "Kermit"? Geez
Given they're the single greatest litigious force behind current archaic and egregious copyright laws, nope
they say it later in the video-i think she said it like that bc the bit has been done with different characters
Screw Disney, they can stick to their woke crap
Henson owes a good chunk of that monster aesthetic to Maurice Sendak.
It’s so weird hearing that Jim had big hands, I saw his hand prints at Hollywood studios and Disney world and ours are the exact same size. And after making my own Kermit puppet awhile back it’s good to know that it’s to scale since mine fit inside.
The new and improved business business creatures are originally from Jim Henson’s inspired silliness on sky princess

Making of piano monster from muppets would be cool idea
Nice video sir

Only pre-Sesame Street material so far. Fingers crossed for a Part 2 and beyond. 🤞
What if piano monster from muppet segment music hath charms would be redesigned
❤
Sometimes I feel like a puppet/muppet
Are you a puppet of a man? Or a man of a Muppet?
Long live the magic of Jim Henson.....
💛👍

I see a lot of really talented people walking around not drinking Wilkins coffee, don't they know how dangerous that can be?
Funny thing is Jim Henson didn't like coffee!
I'm hoping Adam gets to see the FNAF movie props I feel like he would love the suits and animatronics
Because, yeah, Henson wasn't a driven businessman.
I have always loved the Muppets. Seaseme street characters were ok but always were second place to me
A mean looking Grover seems so foreign to what he evolved into.
Great content, but ADAM try to keep your enthusiasm in check. Don't interrupt so much. Let the subject talk and tell the story!
Yup yup yup yup
Yup yup yup yup
Uh huh uh huh
Where are the one day builds??
Jim henson died of easily treatable pneumonia...
A good interviewer would stop talking on occasion.

Been Loving this whole Henson series :)
