There’s a reason the History Channel has produced hundreds of documentaries about Hitler but only a few about Dwight D. Eisenhower. Bad guys (and gals) are eternally fascinating. Behind the Bastards dives in past the Cliffs Notes of the worst humans in history and exposes the bizarre realities of their lives. Listeners will learn about the young adult novels that helped Hitler form his monstrous ideology, the founder of Blackwater’s insane quest to build his own Air Force, the bizarre lives of the sons and daughters of dictators and Saddam Hussein’s side career as a trashy romance novelist.
New episodes twice a week on iHeartRadio.

Billy is one of my favorite guests. Consistent understated comedy
this show live sounds like a riot, i wanna goooo haha
Grew up around a lot of militia folks. Saw Soldier of Fortune everywhere, almost as commonly as Time
I always have time for Billy Wayne Davis.
We used to call it "Soldier of Fiction". About as truthful as the "Dear Penthouse" letters were.
I read that stupid mag back when I was a kid mostly because of crap like The A Team and Red Dawn. I knew nothing about politics or life. About a year later I got a girlfriend and started listening to cool music. Also a relative who saw the shit in Nam said he would kill me if I joined the Army.
Please do more of these robert, im from ghr UK ans have been listening on Spotify for a year now and love it!
Your stuff is really well done and presented in a really engaging style . Even with my short attention span , I can’t tear myself away , thanks

I remember seeing this magazine in convince stores while on road trips as a kid. I’d always pick out a Jughead Double Digest or Mad Magazine but I did stare at the SoF covers with confusion and some awe.

Billy Wayne is fuckin funny.
I love you people
RKB no longer owns Soldier of Fortune. Susan Katz Keating is the new owner. The magazine now has nothing to do with mercs.
You could probably rename it "Stolen Valor Digest".

Billy Wayne is like if Carl pilkington was actually crocodile hunter
Honestly, as someone there in life right now, I get it 😅 but still wouldn't man like come ON 🤦🏼♀️
So is this why everything Rhodesian forces did got hailed as some sort of super intelligent strategie. Like I once read some article lauding them for their use of the FAL and their use of it in counter insurgency and the nit just describes them firing the things full auto into the bush, as if that is some special tactic and not just suppressive fire a concept almost as old as guns. The FAL in general has become a sort of rhodesian dog whistle, that thing was used by like half of all anti communist forces but it's the "rhodesia gun" at this point. Also speaking of the rhodesian side of youtube isnt that legit why InRangeTV split with Ian cause of the rhodesian FAL episode and Karl wanting to talk about the politics behind it and Ian just refusing to address it cause it could cost him viewers?
