*sung to the tune of "On Top of Old Smokey". On top of my furnace... All covered with clamps... Crap, here comes my girlfriend Let's turn out the lamps! Great scores and thanks for the video.
Some of the things you say just crack me up 😂 “If you get a car and it comes with a flat tire, you gonna drive it because it come with a flat?” 🤣 No, I would not!! “There are the clamps I shellacked. These are from last night, these are from last week, those are from last month. . . “. 🤣 Those rapid titans are really cool and came out so pretty. 🤗
Hello Jill! The funny thing is I get a pair of rusty clamps and remove the rust, shellac them and then hang them up waiting for paint... I'm a little slow getting to the paint so they sit waiting... I have over two dozen clamps awaiting paint! =) Oh well... Maybe I'll do a special paint job for each holiday! =) Thanks so much!
Nice work. Grand Rapids is about 45 minutes north of me. It was a huge furniture manufacturing community back in the day. There are still big office furniture companies there. My son works for a 2nd tier supplier of electronic components. Those Rapid Titans would be handy on the assembly line. It is nice to see clamps that aren't twisted. In machine repair and fabrication I often had to buy a few hundred clamps a year to replace the damaged ones. The guys would slip abox end wrench over the handle and crank until they pulled a poorly cut joint close enough to weld. I think the most disturbing thing was using a 12" clamp to hold two 1/4" plates. With the screw fully extended the shaft bends and the clamp won't open. Out comes the torch and the clamp ...... disappears. Can't let the boss, me, see it or he will go ballistic. 😨😤😲
Hello David! LOL You are so lucky you aren't missed! When I was working for a private company I never thought of cutting out of work because I felt appreciated... Then The MTA took over and they treated everyone like garbage... Needless to say every moment I could take I did! =D Good times!!! Thanks so much!!!!!
Hello Emerson! Yes, I try to stay away from clamps because I have so many but I will pick up an unusual one just for fun! These were great buys! Especially the eBay clamps! Thanks so much!!!!!!
I get a real satisfaction removing casting flash and deburring otherwise perfectly good parts. It just feels better and makes using them more pleasant. Keep at it scoutcrafter.
Hello JF! You are so right! Every old time tool man would look after his tools and "tune them up" to his specs... You never just live with something you don't like!! Thanks so much!!!!!!!
Nice restoration. Excellent tutorial!! I loved the way you applied the paint to the letters. When you first said you were going to paint the letters I thought how the heck can he do that. It was ingenious. Thank you teacher!! You make your restorations so so interesting with your how to and history of the tool.
Hi Frank!!!! These letters were easier then most because they were so pronounced. I was under the gun because I have a burner cleaning tomorrow and trying to make room for the serviceman! =) I hate this heat! It's 100 degrees on my porch!!!!!! Crazy! Thanks Frank!!!!!!!
Hello Donald!!! It's funny how we take certain tools for granted like Pliers, screwdrivers and such. Those are the basics of every tool kit! Thanks so much!!!!
Those are some really nice clamps. I especially like the girder looking clamps and the color. The rapid adjusting clamps would be very handy that's pretty much why I use F-clamps for fabrication work. Holding things on the mill or shaper kant twist or c-clamps work the best. Nice collection and video, thanks!
First off thanks for the G-Clamp shout out for us in UK. Now, the Titan quick release look like another great idea that never caught on. [i hate spinning the clamp, for ages, just to open it]. And the Flashing... thats just where I hold my clamps to hang them up & wrestle them down off their hook. That would have to go if I was going to use them, I wouldn't 'get precious' about it. Luckily the seams on my clamps [though raised a little] are smooth so no problemo. Great work as usual - [just a bit jealous seeing so many clamps in one place, 'cos you know what they say...... lol]
Hello Keith! I don't mind forge seams, even if they are exaggerated but sharp flashing is not acceptable. It only takes a few seconds at the factory to remove such flashing. If they don't do it then they are doing shoddy work. It's a clamp and doesn't have to be perfect just safe... Thanks so much!!!!
Hello Jim! I have a absolute love affair with that furnace, for 56 years I have never known another and it never let me or my family down. Yes it uses more oil but all my friends have replaced their furnaces three times all while telling me my American Standard is outdated! LOL Thanks so much!!!!!!!!
You're welcome sir 🤠 They are/were excellent boilers. As you said, it uses more oil compared to a newer boiler but the reliability out weighs additional oil consumption, imho, especially when your neighbor's high efficiency unit has failed a few times a winter while you're warm and toasty 😎😎
GREAT VIDEO!! The screw clamp! One of the simplest machines!! Found everywhere!! From Sewing machines to the most advanced equipment and tools known to man!! Excellent work, as always!! Thank you sir!
As the old saying goes "You can never have enough clamps". The Rapid Titan clamps look fantastic with the shellac and I love the quick release mechanism so why can't we get something similar today ?. Your videos are inspirational in turning a sows ear into a silk purse.
Hi Tony! Even though rapid style clamps have been around for many years I believe these were patented in 1985! Pretty young for the tools we usually collect! I'm so glad you enjoyed the project!!!! Thanks!!!!!
SC... Once again you have outdone yourself... if that is even possible. Great work indeed. SC... You should pop those black letters on the black set clamps in white. Thank you for your tranquil videos.
At 2:24 I noticed that the drill you were using with the wire brush looks like a vintage B & D 1/4" (??) from the 70's. Got one that looks just like it. Great that you use old tools to restore old tools. Three pair of really nice clamps that turned out great. You inspire me on every restore that you do. Keep them coming!
Hello Steve! Wow you have great eyes!! That drill is the second one I have of that model, The first one my Mother bought me when I was 15 years old for Christmas! They were well made and inexpensive. Mine came in a blow molded case with lots of accessories! Thanks so much!!!!!
Never seen clamps like them quick release ! That is so usefull . Clever idea on highlighting the letters! And them heavy duty clamps, what a lucky find....
Hi Scout, nice vid. You have acquired more C clamps in the last month than my whole collection of C's. Those rapids are ingenious design. Have a great day.
Hello shaun! These clamps were easy because the lettering was so pronounced, sometimes the lettering is tricky but it is always nice to accent the letters!! Thanks so much!!!
Hello Blackie! I do like the Cincinnati clamps! I must have a dozen! They aren't too heavy and are very well made and not too expensive! I picked these up for $2 each! They always clean up great! Thanks so much!!! 😃👍
Hello Brian! LOL I swear there are guys out there who want the tool exactly as it came from the factory... They will live with anything because it came that way! =D Thanks very much!!!!!
Love these old clamps! Just picked up a 3" =PROTO= clamp with "403 Made in U.S.A. Drop Forged Steel" on the back side. Real dirty and rusty but post vinegar and wire brush, it looks like a charm (not like yours, mind you, but real close). Great job as usual! Really enjoy your vids!
Hello Tom! C Clamps are a great tool to restore... They are well made and usually clean up very nicely. They also look great painted or plain! Good choice!! Thanks so much!!!
Hello Daniel! Yes! That green is really a classic shade! Although I was liking them shellacked with no color too! I think the lines of that clamp is just great! Thanks so much!!!!!
Those Rapid Titan clamps, being made in Grand Rapids, MI were probably intended for furniture making, rather than metalwork. But they look really useful for both purposes. Thanks for sharing them.
I would like to take a peak inside those quick releases. It looks like a really interesting idea. Got an idea for those Cincinnati clamps, they need a coat of Cincinnati Red on them.
Hello DJG! I too wanted a peak inside but I had no replacement drive rivets and didn't want to wait for them to finish the project! The patent looks very complicated!!!! Red is good!!!! =) Thanks so much!!!!!!!
That green color looks great....dare I say better than red 😂. Those Titan clamps are cool, that rapid travel could be a real time saver. Anyway, your clamp collection is starting to look like my die grinder collection....great stuff. Cheers
Hi Joe! Yes that Sage Green is just such a classic color! I think I might be pushing the saying "You can never have too many clamps" I might be there!! LOL Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
That's clever how you did those letters. I know what you mean about the weather. It was pretty sticky in my neck of the woods today. Then a wicked rainstorm passed through a little while ago.
Hello Mr.HB! Oh how I love the rain! I swear if the state of Washington wasn't so politically screwed up I would move there... They have lots of rain! I was born in April which is a rainy month here, maybe that's why! = ) We are expecting rain tomorrow!! Yippee! Thanks so much!!!!!!!
Is New York State really any better? Grew up in Brooklyn (Canarsie) but lived upstate near the Adirondacks for almost 15 years. Hated leaving because New York can be so beautiful in the autumn. Needed a better job.
So many areas I could comment about but in the end I just watched and enjoyed the stories about the clamps. I love clamps and vises. Weird right? I really like those quick release clamps.
lol i like and comment before i watch it maybe help reach more. Amazon links is one thing you look into there alot of things people would like to order like what sandpaper to oil to w/e elese and for 24 hours what ever they buy you get a %. thanks for anything 200ish to go!
Hello TD! Congratulations! The reviews say it's the only smartphone actually worth the high price!! That's saying a lot!!!!! Great stuff!!! Thanks very much!!!
Hello Ikm! This was a different method because the lettering was very pronounced and easily accepts a transfer, normally the lettering isn't so proud... Thanks so much!!!!!!!
It looks like the cover to the works on the rapid clamps is riveted on? It would be nice to get a peek in there! Maybe if you find another one that's in rough shape you could pop out the rivets. It would be cool to replace the cover with a piece of clear plastic so you could see the mechanism in action.
I agree 100%! I wanted so bad to get a peak but I didn't have any Drive rivets of that size on hand and wanted to finish the video before Wednesday! I am going to order some and we will have to have a look-see! Thanks!!!!!!!!!
You can never have enough clamps. :). I believe in US, you call them C clamps ? In UK, we call them G clamps. :). Great vid. I like the shellac look. Well done.
I like when I see others get obsessive with their collecting too. I'm not the only one!!! The clamps hanging up drying are just a fraction of your clamp repertoire, I'm sure.
Hello Christina! They say "You can never have enough clamps" Well, I think I might have enough clamps.... LOL I just like all the different types... Very interesting and they are easy to hang up! =) Thanks so much!!!
Hello Ocelot! Not many tool brands from England are popular here in the states because of the cost of shipping and logistics. Record is the big boy who acquired many smaller companies like Woden in the early 60's. Every once and a while you will see a Record Vise or clamp over here but not often! I always keep and eye out for both! They make great stuff! Thanks so much!! 😃👍
Good video and very interesting. Do you shellac only the surfaces that would be painted and if so what do you put on the unpainted parts to protect? Thanks, your videos are great
Hi ScoutCrafter, beautiful restoration on those clamps!! Did you leave them outside to bake in this heat today?? I really like those rapid release one! Gotta find a few of those myself. Always a great video👍👍
Hello Steve!! Man was it hot!!!!!! Over 100 degrees on my porch!!!! Crazy right!? I can't wait until October! That Titan is pretty cool! Thanks so much!!!!!
Cool rapid clamp buy , looks to be some great clamps. Thanks for the awesome tips on how to make the lettering pop. I would look to ebay to bid on some clamps (or Pliers) But I'm afraid I'll lose in bidding against you LOL. I'll PM my ebay account name to you , if You Tube still lets me do that .
AmericanCoinHunting - Hi Dave!!! You can still get great deals on eBay by searching "lots", like 'C-Clamp lot' you might have to buy six or eight but if you do the math you probably only pay a few dollars each clamp. The flat rate shipping boxes help with the heavier stuff. Thanks very much!!!
Great video! If one is not fortunate enough to have a furnace, how long would you let a Shellac-treated tool sit for? (Also, would love to see a crowbar restoration!)
Hello NN! The shellac is great and completely dry over-night! In an hour it can be handled! Great stuff! I can't tell you how many times I picked up a Crowbar and just looked at it for ten minutes trying to picture how to restore/customize it! I want to do it but I'm at a loss!!!! LOL I will try... (someday) lol Thanks!!!!!
Hello Lou! I was turned on to shellac by a old timer who owned a paint store in my town when I was a boy, it makes a great primer because it really sticks to metal and is easy to cover with paint! It dries fast and is so easy to apply! I've done over 50 tools with that can ad still almost half full! I did a video titled "Shellac, Why I love it and you should too" it tells more about this awesome product! Thanks so much!!!!!!
You make it look easy, quick question if you don't mind,, i just got a grinder from a friend n I wanted to know if it's ok to remove one of the disk n install a wire brush, or is it made only for grinding n there's one for wire brushes, dumb question 4 you maybe but you're an expert,,, BTW wow those clamps look amazing, great job
Hello Raider Nation! That's a great question! You mean the guards that come with the machine! They are made mostly for grinding wheels because there was a time where a damaged or cracked grinding wheel could possibly fly apart at high RPM and become shrapnel! LOL However with a wire brush or buffing wheel the guards just get in the way! Hope that helps! Thanks so much!!!!
Whoa, with the Rapid Tighten, there is a guy on RUclips that shows how he made a Vice with the same mechanism and I think that he thinks he invented it. But in a later incarnation he incorporated rare earth magnets to make it even more fluidly adjustable
Hello TJ! The Rapid Action Mechanism was indeed incorporated into vises and although fast acting vises are not new every time they are re-introduced they tout it as being a new idea! LOL Thanks very much!!!!!
Another great video, and I have another off topic question. I recently bought some Wizard brand tools, I remember this being a Western Auto brand. They are USA made, but are these considered quality tools?
Hello Eddie! Wizard was a great brand of top quality tooling!! They have a really interesting history!! Check it out!!!! alloy-artifacts.org/western-auto-supply.html
..good job of bringing old tools back to a useful purpose.. i find newer clamps are made cheaper and not as strong, too much flexing and some loosen up when used ..
Hi Bob! Yes, unfortunately the clamps today aren't made as stout as they should be... The good thing is there are tons of older clamps still available at a great price! Thanks!!!!!
Scoutcrafter, Help me understand the big green clamps. If the screw threads are the same pitch as other clamps, I could not really tighten them any more than a conventional clamp. So why so beefy?
Hello GT! Exactly!!! I think the idea is that the more beefy the clamp the less chance of flex or slip. However the threaded rod would be the weak link in this chain so I too wonder 'why?" Thanks so much!!!!!!
THERE'S the familiar background music! Also, if you feel like you have enough C clamps you're wrong. I'm gonna start trawling eBay for some antique C clamps along with looking for a really roached out Stillson that still works. I'm gonna turn it into a twisting wrench and make a custom handle for it as long as it still works but it just too beat down to clean up.
Hello Allan! I think I am getting close to having enough clamps!! =) I think you should take one of those nice Bastard files and make a knife out of it!! No need to damascus it or even fold it, just heat, hammer and grind it into a nice knife! The wrenches will make great handles! Thanks!!!!!!
@@ScoutCrafter I'm waiting on finding the right kind of rasp. It has deep inset triangles so you can work it without fuss. The ones I have all have large teeth on them that will make for a terrible blade. You did however shine a light on one of my projects that's waiting on the right rasp.
@@ScoutCrafter The custom Stillson handle is gonna be curly maple dyed green with a CA finish to strengthen the wood. I'll weld a bar to the top so I can twist billets with both hands which is both safer and more stable than using a single handle wrench.
The Big green clamps are the nicest of the bunch I think. Nice, beefy and ready to crank down! Add me to the list of people that would hold on to them for you :)
Hello Bradley! There was no way I was passing them by! For $10 each it was an easy buy... I never saw clamps like these before but they seem ready for some heavy duty work!! Thanks so much!!!!
Hi Eliseo! Yes they can! However the problem becomes rust resistance... if you sand out all the scratches and polish the sockets they will look great but if left outside they will rust! Thanks
Hi Melissa!! YES!!!! My dream is a lot of land with a barn and a huge basement shop! Even though they are small the tools take up room!!! LOL Thanks so much!!!!
Will you sell the rapid titans or the sage green clamps I'll PayPal you asap let me I'm an huge fan of you videos you got me into restoring all old tools thanks for all the great videos
Hello Jarco! I'm not at the selling point yet but I promise when I do get there my Subs will get the first heads up! I'm glad you are restoring tools and enjoying this awesome hobby!!! Thanks so much!!!!!
Have you ever heard them called cramps? I bought some woodworking books back in the 70's before woodwoorking was "in". They were written in Britain. They called them cramps. Two countries separated by a common language. 😆
Old Sneelock's Workshop - YES! A couple subscribers mentioned that they called them "G-Cramps". Lol. We have it all wrong over here! 😃👍. Thanks very much Dave!
When I was in my woodwork class back in the 70's, I made the mistake of calling them clamps and was promptly reprimanded by the teacher, I have always known them as cramps ever since, same goes for sash cramps...I don't know the origins.... I will try and do some internet research, my neighbour is a cabinet maker, I might pick his brain 😀
I found on a UK woodworking forum from 2003 that cramp was derived from cramp iron (used to hold masonary together)... that's all I could find...apart from it being us and the Aussies being the only ones using the term....Ahh progress 😀
Hello Mr PGT! That American Standard Furnace is older then me and kept me warm for 56 Winters!!!! Love that baby!!!! Thanks so much!!!!!
6 лет назад
You can never have enough clamps, they all look nice, Maybe the I beam heavy duty ones were not used because of the uncomfortable flashing that was left on.
Hi Tony!!!! I am getting to the point where I just might have enough clamps!!! LOL That flashing was super sharp!!!! As you get older I think your skin gets thinner and everything cuts you!!!!! Thanks so much!!!
6 лет назад
As you get older your pleasure sensors dull but the pain sensors increase.
I have some beefy clamps (Armstrong), Scout, but nothing like those SME's. Looks like you believe in that saying: you can never have too many clamps. (PS - Is there a way to permanently set the "Like" button for your videos?)
Hello Ricopolico! Yes! You are so right, I too have lots of heavy duty clamps but never even seen those SME clamps! I think they are more rare then the Titans! Just pretty interesting for sure!! Thanks so much!!! I really appreciate your support!! 😃👍
Hello Greg! LOL! It's true! However I am only buying different clamps as of now... They do store easy though! Just clamp them on a beam! LOL Thanks!!!!!!!
*sung to the tune of "On Top of Old Smokey".
On top of my furnace...
All covered with clamps...
Crap, here comes my girlfriend
Let's turn out the lamps!
Great scores and thanks for the video.
Hello LMR!!!!! LMAO! Got to PIN this one!!!! You are the best! =D
Very clever! 😄
2nd Verse ...
My girlfriend wasn’t happy...
She didn’t think twice ..
She grabbed hold of my pliers
And put my nose in the vice ......
Another great video. Nothing beats after a long hard day coming home to find out scoutcrafter posted a new restoration video.
Hello Tron! That makes my day knowing you enjoyed the project!!!! Thanks so much!!!
“People are out of their minds” nice one! I’m learning new stuff from every video. Thanks.
I can’t believe I missed this video. I look forward to watching your restorations and completely missed it lol. Thank you for sharing!
Nice clamps and another great restoration. I look forward to your videos every day. Thanks for sharing your projects with us.
Hello SP! I really appreciate that! I'm so glad you enjoy the projects!!!! Thanks!!!!!!
Your painting tip is great. Thanks. I can't wait to try it out. ...and those Titan clamps are awesome! Fun to see... Thanks as always for sharing.
Hi Daniel! The lettering on these were very proud and easy to transfer paint onto, it worked really well! Thanks so much!!!!!!!
I agree you can never have too many clamps. They are all great but those green ones are badass!!
Great resto and thanks again for sharing.
Hello Bernie!!!! Those Green ones are so overbuilt! I think that's why we like them so much! LOL Thanks very much!!!!!!
I like it when you show your products used (paint). Do a video on your bench tools used.
Great job. I really enjoy watching you make these old tools look new again.
Hello Jim! I'm so glad you are enjoying the projects! Thanks so much!!!!!!

Awesome as usual. Those I beam clamps are definitely a lifetime clamp. What a steal on the rapid clamps, great design.

Those Titan clamps are brilliant.....cheers mate.
Hello Darrin!!!! I never seen a pair before getting these! I'm so glad you enjoyed them! Thanks!!!!!!!!
Those heavy duty sage green clamps are friggin beautiful!
Hello Ziya! I can see you like the Industrial Heavy Duty look! Awesome!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!
ScoutCrafter heck ya! Look forward to seeing the next restoration!
Great job and that Sage Green is just mind blowing, they're gorgeous.
It's funny how many people love that color! I do too! I think it is just a classic color for tools! Thanks so much!!!!!!!!

You've done a great job on those G cramps...
Hello Alistair Macleod- Yes! G-Cramps!!! Maybe we can bring that back!? 😃👍. Thanks very much!!!

Hello ynns1! Lol, Some people really are out of their minds! 😂😂😂😂. Thanks so much!!!
Never seen clamps like them quick release ! That is so usefull .
Clever idea on highlighting the letters! And them heavy duty clamps, what a lucky find....
Hello Tony! Yes these were all some cool clamps! The Beefy ones I got at the show last week for $10 each. I really like them! Thanks so much!!!!!!
wonderful job on all the clamps
Hi Scout, nice vid. You have acquired more C clamps in the last month than my whole collection of C's. Those rapids are ingenious design. Have a great day.
Hello Michael! They work well although I never truly trust quick clamps of any type... Just me I guess! Thanks very much!!!!!
Thank you so much Scout for showing us how you paint your lettering
Hello shaun! These clamps were easy because the lettering was so pronounced, sometimes the lettering is tricky but it is always nice to accent the letters!! Thanks so much!!!
Those rapid closing clamps very interesting
Hello clive! Yes! There is always something fun about rapid action clamps and vises... I think it fascinates us! Thanks very much!! 😃👍
Very nice restorations! I like the sage green color. It is a good color for tools.
Hello John! I agree! Very classic color that makes the tool look rich! Thanks so much!!!!!
Those Rapid Titans look great!!....raw with a pop of red very nice ...Thumbs up :]
Hello Dirt and Rust! I think so too! The shellac was just enough!!! Thanks so much!!! 😃👍
Finally got to your vid...Apparently Cincinnati Clamps are great....convincingly good...must find some..thanks Scout..
Hello Blackie! I do like the Cincinnati clamps! I must have a dozen! They aren't too heavy and are very well made and not too expensive! I picked these up for $2 each! They always clean up great! Thanks so much!!! 😃👍
Wow, ScoutCrafter great video. I love the color sage green, and those quick release clamps.
Vaughn
scaleautoworkshop - Hi Vaughn! Yes! That Green really looks nice on tooling- A very classic color! Thanks so much!!! 😃👍
Koo video again,, i like to watch anything that's rusted to looking good,,
Hello RN! Me too! I always enjoy a good restoration video when something rusty comes back to looking new! Thanks very much!!!!
Those clamps turned out beautiful. Amazing job of restoration. Thanks for a great video.
Hi Steven! Thanks very much!!! I really appreciate that!!!!
Love the flat tire comparison! hahaha
*Love* the SME clamps. Want some, too.
Hello Felix! Yes! They look so industrial don't they!? Thanks very much!!!!
Absolutely CLASSIC green, what a choice SC. You set the bar high and are an exemplar.
Hello Stephen, They are pretty stout and do have a acme thread so they probably had multiple uses! I bet they were expensive... Thanks so much!!!!!!
Well the video kept me glued to the screen as usual thanks very much interesting as usual
Hello Kevin! This video was pretty long at 11 minutes because there was a lot of stuff going on, 3 sets to talk about! =) LOL Thanks very much!!!!!!!!
Their never to long if they were an hour I’d watch them
outstanding video. lean more handy information all the time. Thanks again , good stuff
Hello Norherman!!!! Thanks so much! I got a little RED in! LOL =)
Yes you did! Again super stuff.
"People are outta their minds!!" That had me rolling! Love your vids!
Hello Nick! I felt a little bad after saying that but so help me it's true! =) Thanks so much! I really appreciate it! =)
Hello Wyatt! Such simple yet useful often under appreciated tools... They do deserve praise and recognition! Thanks so much!!!!!
Great work buddy
Hello Todtiger! Thanks very much!!!!!! Glad you enjoyed!!!!!
Great work scout
Thanks so much! Im so glad you enjoyed the projects!!!!
another great one! thanks
Hi David!!! I just finished this video 10 minutes ago! LOL Thanks!!!!!!
lol i like and comment before i watch it maybe help reach more. Amazon links is one thing you look into there alot of things people would like to order like what sandpaper to oil to w/e elese and for 24 hours what ever they buy you get a %. thanks for anything 200ish to go!
David you should be a professional promotor!!!! =) Thanks again!!!!!!!!
This is the first video I've watched on my new Galaxy Note 9 😀. Fantastic as always & keep up the good work 👍
Hello TD! Congratulations! The reviews say it's the only smartphone actually worth the high price!! That's saying a lot!!!!! Great stuff!!! Thanks very much!!!
Cheers. I'm waiting on a Rigid pipe wrench being delivered for my next project. Thanks for your inspiration. Kind regards from across the pond.
great stuff,i always pick up the old american made clamps when they are cheap.
Hello Roger! I am winding down because I really feel I might have enough!! LOL Thanks so much!!!!!
until the next dollar box, lol. i keep most of mine on my welding cart because thats usually when i use them
First! Another great video to watch!! Keep up the great work scout!
Hello Mason! First again!!!!! =) Thanks very much!!!!!
Great painting tip.. I wondered how you did it.
Well done.
Hello Ian! Look at the video description! LOL In all honesty they do look more like a G then a C! Thanks so much!!!!!!
Sorry, didnt read it before. :)
LOL! I always found that funny! I really appreciate my overseas viewers!!!! Thanks again!!!!
Another great restoration Scoutcrafter and video Keep up the great work 😀👍🏻
P.S do you know of woden or record tool brand ?
Hello Ocelot! Not many tool brands from England are popular here in the states because of the cost of shipping and logistics. Record is the big boy who acquired many smaller companies like Woden in the early 60's. Every once and a while you will see a Record Vise or clamp over here but not often! I always keep and eye out for both! They make great stuff! Thanks so much!! 😃👍
Good video and very interesting. Do you shellac only the surfaces that would be painted and if so what do you put on the unpainted parts to protect? Thanks, your videos are great
One dislike = President of the Forge Flash Preservation Society of North America!
Hello 357MD! LMAO!!!!! That is too funny!!!!!!! =D Great stuff!!!!!!
Yay another video these sure are super neat scout I wish these things could talk :3 thanks for sharing :D
Hello LV! They are some nifty clamps!!!! I love the super HD ones! Thanks!!!!!
@@ScoutCrafter you are welcome sir :D
Those rapid clamps are pretty neat and those green heavy duty came out great.
Hello Pat! I'm so glad you enjoyed the projects!!! Thanks so much!!!!!!
you do one awesome job on those tools can you purchase that polish out of a store or have to order it black bar compound
I enjoy your video's ,I do tool restos also, and was wondering why you use shellac over a primer?
@@ScoutCrafter definitely going t o try this one,Thanks!
@@ScoutCrafter yeah thankz, I want to remove one of the grinder wheel and install the wire brush to restore some of my older tools,
Absolutely, just always wear eye protection as the wires will sometimes let loose on you!!!
@@ScoutCrafter ok thankz
Whoa, with the Rapid Tighten, there is a guy on RUclips that shows how he made a Vice with the same mechanism and I think that he thinks he invented it. But in a later incarnation he incorporated rare earth magnets to make it even more fluidly adjustable
Hello TJ! The Rapid Action Mechanism was indeed incorporated into vises and although fast acting vises are not new every time they are re-introduced they tout it as being a new idea! LOL Thanks very much!!!!!
I wonder what industry needed clamps so heavy duty as those?
Hello Vernon! Yes! They are really rigid! Yet the screw mechanism is standard duty! I never saw those before!!! Thanks so much!!!!
Nice G Clamps, which are also known as G 'CRAMPS'. I was bought up to call them G Cramps, but hey potato potarto! ha ha ha
Hello Glen! You are so right! I always know when someone is from overseas by the way they refer to these! Great stuff! Thanks so much!!!!!!!
Another great video, and I have another off topic question. I recently bought some Wizard brand tools, I remember this being a Western Auto brand. They are USA made, but are these considered quality tools?
Hello Eddie! Wizard was a great brand of top quality tooling!! They have a really interesting history!! Check it out!!!! alloy-artifacts.org/western-auto-supply.html
what local store can you purchase it at
..good job of bringing old tools back to a useful purpose.. i find newer clamps are made cheaper and not as strong, too much flexing and some loosen up when used ..
However the threaded rod would be the weak link in this chain so I too wonder 'why?" Thanks so much!!!!!!
what type of Polish do you use for them tools
Hello Jessy- I use the Black bar compound known as Emery... Works great on Steel!!! Thanks
Also that mint green makes those clamps look like they were made in the late 1950s. Very cool.
Can socket be restored . Or their not worth the trouble since their cheap . I have sockets that are really scratch up
Hi Eliseo! Yes they can! However the problem becomes rust resistance... if you sand out all the scratches and polish the sockets they will look great but if left outside they will rust! Thanks
had a great time with the video. might have to get a bigger basesment for all the tools....rofl
Quelle sensualité industrielle !!!
Hello Pascal! Thanks so much!!! 😃👍
You get a lot of double duty out of that furnace, lol. #Gettingyourmoneysworth
Hello Mr PGT! That American Standard Furnace is older then me and kept me warm for 56 Winters!!!! Love that baby!!!! Thanks so much!!!!!
As you get older your pleasure sensors dull but the pain sensors increase.
👏🙂👍
Hello Kpym!!!! Thanks so much my friend!!!!!!! =)
The differences in the Cincinnati clamps finish looks like it's gone from Low Volume manufacture to High Volume manufacture
Hello Wanton! Isn't that interesting how many differences there are between production runs!? Great stuff! Thanks very much!!!!!
hi bro, again a clamp nide for workshop
Hello Creative Maketools! I think I'm really testing the old saying that "you can never have too many clamps". Lol. Thanks!!!
Now I have to get a set of those Titan Rapid clamps. It's all your fault :)
I asked the paint guy for Scout Crafter Red. He had a weird look on his face, then said “Check back in week”
Hello Jake! LOL That color is Rustoleum Regal Red if ever you are at Home Depot! =) Thanks so much!!!!
I think your wire wheel gets bigger every new video....What are you feedin' that thing. lol
You appear to have too many clamps. Go ahead and send some my way. Address provided upon request!!...lol
Hello Greg! LOL! It's true! However I am only buying different clamps as of now... They do store easy though! Just clamp them on a beam! LOL Thanks!!!!!!!
