You are right on the mark on the ergons. Love those grips!
I am new to the szene and the vid helped a lot, Thank you!
i have for a long time been using the specialized SIP Locking Grips. and their predecessors.pretty soft rubber so i have concistantly worn one pair out every season but i just love the feel of those grips.
the grips i have at the moment are the ones that came on my new bike and it is the Bontrager XR Trail Elite, and i must say, i'm pretty happy with them, the thin lines makes them very good at damping vibrations and also makes a pretty hard rubber feel soft and i will be using these ones until they are a gonner and after that have i heard that the Nukeproof Horizon Race Grips are a solid set of grips so i will give them a try.
Pah, no Pilgrips, what kind of a test is this??
To the sky!! 🚀
🤣 Time for a Monny...
Because they knew that Pilgrips are superior.
I use either ESI Extra Chunky silicone grips or Jet Black Rivet lock-on, both are fantastic grips
Specialized SIP. They came on my Stumpjumper I love them I usually switch grips immediately but I've kept these on matter of fact I bought a new pair, just wish they came in colors
The ODI/Troy Lee Designs MTB grips are my go to.
The ergonomics are amazing, and the tackiness is perfect.
Love my Ergons! They feel like they came from the future
Good descriptions of quality grips.
Excellent detailed review
Learned a lot about grips.....thanks !
Just got some ergon ga3 and the grip is amazing
The ODI looks the best, but they all seem like good grips. Here are all the grips and their times in the video.
5. @2:31 Lizard Skins Macaskill Lock-On
4. @3:48 DMR Deathgrip
3. @5:35 ODI Elite Flow
2. @6:44 Renthal Traction Lock-On
1. @8:22 Ergon GE1 Evo
I use the Ergon FAT, and I LOVE them. I also just bought the TLD/ODI Dual Lock Ons to give them a Try. But for the Record, Ergon is TOP NOTCH........🤝🏾🇺🇸💪🏾👍🏾🏆🥇
Odi elite flow and ge1 ergons for me. Have to check those 2 out.
I like the ODI rogue and the tinker Juarez dread locks.
I love Ergon GA2 grips and just got a new pair off ebay for $15. I'll see if I can find a deal on some GE1's to try.
I tried running the death drips for a few months and although they were good grips I was getting hand numbness on the outside of my hands at times. I didn't totally love the "mushroom" section on the inside ether. I recently put on a pair of Ergon ge1 Evo Factory, I've only taken a couple of short rides with them but I like the feel of them and so far but will see how they hold up
Great product
Flip the dmr death grip 90° so that the square part is under your palm. Best grip ever, this gives good damping for your palm but still has a good diameter where your fingers are
Can you do a similar vid with brakes and fork. I'd love to see a comparaison between TRP, Hayes, Hpe, Magura.
Would certainly love to - that's a great idea!
If you're interested, we did conduct a disc brake group test not too long ago, which compares the likes of Shimano, TRP, Magura, SRAM, Hope, Trickstuff, BFO and FSA; singletrackworld.com/2017/12/stop-hammertime-we-test-8-high-powered-stoppers-in-our-disc-brake-group-test-to-find-out-which-is-best/
[ST Wil]
no need. Everyone knows magura are the best
I bought some Ergon GE1 Knock-offs from West Biking and they are decent for half the price, not quite as soft, but good enough for me.
I love my Eargon GA3. Not sure why they weren’t included. Otherwise, really great review.
Good to hear you're digging the GA3 grips Jack!
Simple reason they weren't included in this group test - Ergon is yet to send me a pair to test out :-) Reckon I'll drop them a line and see if we can some of those in to try out, as I've gotten along with well the GS grips in the past.
And thanks for watching mate!

Odi has released a single clamp lock-on of their long neck grip. 10/10 grip honestly the GOAT. I'll never use anything else ever again.
Great options here, but what about silicone lock on grips, like from RedMonkey Sports or Ergon grips with the fin? Maybe an "alternative grip style" video is needed.
That's a great idea! There are definitely a lot of different grip designs on the market, so there's plenty of scope for a follow-up group test.
For this test I did limit it to lock-on grips specifically, which I explained why in the article here: singletrackworld.com/2019/03/top-5-lock-on-grips-2019/
Thanks for watching by the way!
[ST Wil]
what if you have the short style grips cause the shifter is on the end. Thanks
Big fan of chromag palmskin grips

Rental traction ultra tacky are my favourite swear by those things
GE1’s are my favourite too!
I'm a big fan for sure - they're a very well made grip!
[ST Wil]
I like ga2's they are awesome
Question, does the steer diameter matter? I think my steering bar is 25.4 mm in diameter while I see all the grips have like 30 mm. I heard people say it doesn't matter and that the grips will always fit, is that true?
Nope - all grips (well, 99% of them on the market) are all designed to fit onto the same round handlebar.
When a handlebar is said to have a 25.4mm, or 31.8mm, or 35mm in diameter, this only refers to the section where the stem clamps onto it. The diameter then quickly gets smaller around the shifter/brake lever clamps and where the grips slide on. At this part of the handlebar the diameter is 22.2mm - and this is the same for every mountain bike handlebar.
Hope that helps explain!

ive just ordered some lock on grips but have a half twist throttle, is there any way to cut or trim these down ?
My girlfriend prefers a hard grip, as she finds the soft ones a little vague in her hands. To the sky!!!!
You said you were going to tell us which one was your favorite then you said Toodluuu WTH :o
I have the lizard skins but I set my bike down kinda harsh on the end of the grip and it literally ripped a quarter of the end of the grip, i the. Clipped a tree on the same side of the grip and it’s falling off I wouldn’t recommend, it’s too sticky also every time I take my hand off when I’m not wearing gloves I have the black tacky dots that stick to my hand I’m ordering the pnw component loam grips and hopefully they’ll do the job and more
I run gusset s2's or death grips flanges
Deity Knuckleduster?
I never really got along with the Ergon GE1's. As Will mentioned you need to hold them with your elbows bent outwards. If I didn't my wrists would start to hurt after awhile. I replaced them with Ergon GA2's and really happy with them.
Thanks for watching mate, and cheers for the feedback on the GE1 grips!
They certainly have a unique profile, and I can see that not working for some riders for sure. I think a lot of it comes down to handlebar setup too, and how you have the sweep/roll of your bars setup.
Funnily enough, I don't get along so well with the GA2s. Like saddles though, grips are very much personal preference - after all, our hands are very sensitive little things :-)

I have sweaty hands and DMRs worked perfectly for me
Best Dirtjump grips?
The Deathgrip Race version is even softer than the soft regular version right?
How are these for bare hand riding?
Israel Magalit I find them to be really nice with or without gloves
I’m currently using Rev Grips and can’t see ever going back to anything else. In the past, I’ve had Ergon GE1’s, ODi Ruffin and some Lizard skins but don’t remember the model.
Nice one Steven!
We've got some Rev Grips on test at the moment, and I know our tester (David) is really liking how comfortable they are. Not cheap though!
[ST Wil]
@@singletrack Cripes I just looked up the prices! I've got bikes that cost me less than that!
I am happy with my rare on-off grips
What is better for enduro the ge1 or the gd1
What about the material? Plastic? PVC? Foam?
i had the lizardskin maccaskill and honestly 0 confort ! my hands were hurting a lot, plastic is so hard, vibration , though...
i now have Fabric semi-ergo grips, with silicon, it s so comfy :)
What about odi softies?
What about the ga2 fat?
If my hand is 19,5 cm should I go for thin or thick?
GE1 👍😘
How do you ship them?
ODI Aaron Gwinn best grips ever
Well, if they're good enough for Gwin ;-)
[ST Wil]
ESI extra chunky or any other size, with ODI end plugs,(the ESI plugs suck, ODI plugs will make the grips last much longer), most comfortable, LIGHTEST GRIPS PERIOD....
My fav grips are Revgrips.
here is my written review of them: wp.me/p60aTF-2t4
I have them in 34mm grips. I recommend measuring the grip diameter by making a circle with thumb and index finger, and measure this, this will give diameter you need.
this worked well for me, mine is 34mm, I knew I needed this size, but I measured anyway.
I use medium. large gloves depending on brand, but I use Poc gloves SO medium fits me.
durable, sticky, and comfy, and they really work, but setup is crucial.
Is there a mountain bike grip that's made of Rubber Silicone?
what most of motorcycle grips use
common cheap phones cases for example
I just want a grip that will last a lifetime
the most advanced grip today is RevGrips.
They certainly are crazy those RevGrips! We've actually got a pair on test, and the review will be live on the website in the next week or so - keep an eye out Johannes!
[ST Wil]
I have quite big hands, but I prefer thin grips.
Cheers for watching and for the feedback Tomi!
What sort of grips are you running?
[ST Wil]
Hi Wil, I'm running Ergon GA2's at the moment and they seem really good.
I have used a lot of deathgrips and while they are nice, they don't last for me. I've snapped 3 pairs over time and sometimes during a race so I won't be using them again. Would reccomend for light riding but not enduro/dh racing.
Mc A skill , is how it’s pronounced xxx
That's some creepy effect with the right side of your neck ))
короче беріть ергон
