WOW! What a film! If you love WW2, double agents, heroism, and George Sanders, then buckle up because this film will take you for a ride. I absolutely loved it. Thought I’d seen every WW2 movie worth watching but this is one of my favorites now! Thank you for uploading!
As to his singing voice, find his LP album on RUclips by searching “The George Sanders Touch -Songs for the Lovely Lady”. My nickname for the record is “swoon croon”. One song, “Such is My Love”, he wrote himself-words & music. Any guy needing a great Valentine that won’t cost a cent, get this on your phone and put it near her pillow. ❤🎉😊👌
I agree 100% with your admiration for Sanders. I recently saw his appearance as the ethereal god 'Indifference' looking down from the galaxy on our human race with disdain in HG Wells 'The Man Who Could Work Miracles'. His portrayal in Samson and Delilah saluting the sky as the temple fell on him summed up his marvellous ambivalence to all human follies.
Here we're introduced to one of my favorite Actresses, Gale Sondergaard. American born and a star ( first female supporting Academy winner ever in her first role ) in every role she ever took. Unfortunately for her that her 2nd husband was caught up in the Film and Theater Communist Black Listings and he even went to prison in the early 50's. Except for some Theater work when she and her husband moved to New York after his acquittal and release she didn't play any film roles for 2 decades which was a shame not to have the enjoyment of her talents through more film roles.
Great flick! Can watch George Sanders in anything. Good show, old boy. Love how they even got the 'newsy' there at the end. Old movies always tied up all the drama loose ends. Even the newsy who thought he betrayed England was at the awards ceremony, realizing Wilson was not a traitor after all.
Today. Its surrender to DEI, the ECHR, the WEF, the United Nations and the EU Commission the Academic Long March of The 1938 4th International and Leo Trotsky' s dream and PLAN. Sir Douglas - the actor who plays Wilson's father, in real life was George Sanders actual real father. When the irony of this 1943 movie is that is was as much Propaganda for the Allies made by the Americans during World War Two.
1:12:00 he gets an incredible head start, but then suddenly fritz catches up with him immediately and knows exactly where he is. Then the plane which is 4x faster than a car arrives shortly afterwards.
at about 1:15:00 it is mentioned that the Gestapo are here. It's unlikely that the Gestapo would be wearing Wermacht uniforms and helmets.! Shortly afterwards, it is mentioned that "England is in trouble" - no mention of Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland!
George Sanders accent is not the British Im used to. Its almost Mid-Atlantic, like Kate Hepburn in her day. Upper crust, but almost imformal in a way. Either way, its very pleasant to listen to.
Why is most of the cast uncredited? Had to search deep into IMDB to confirm that the Colonel is Alan Napier ("Alfred" the butler in 60s Batman). He has a key role here but uncredited. Did they do it all for England?

Outstanding! Better then Hollywood today. Thanx
Classic! Old school movie! Thank you!
I could listen to George Sanders all day. I have all his Saint films plus most of the others available.
His singing voice is wonderful as well! And his brother has a nice voice too!
@@victoriagoforth9748 Yes. I have The Falcon films too.
Most definitely big fan of his, to me actors suck today compared to back then an I'm only 45

WONDERFUL SEEING THESE QUALITY MOVIES, ESPECIALLY IN THESE DREARY TIMES, THANK YOU
Sanders was great in every movie, tremendously versatile from cad, villan, hero, comedy whatever. Nobody today matches up!

Terrific movie. Thank you so much for posting!
As a lover of all things WW2/1940s, I was delighted to come across this movie. Thank you to the very 21st Century algorithms for suggesting it.
Great print and thanks for not slapping an ego logo over it, subbed.

The blacklist: a shameful period in our history.
George Sanders is a complete marvel and multi-talented !
Absolutlely!!! So many of us think and know!
@@vincentmancini6279 I have read a good Biography written by his friend actor Brian Ahearne. He passed away far too soon.

I adore George Sanders--that VOICE. Dark chocolate laced with whisky.
George Sanders and Ronald Colman had to most beautiful voices.
I agree but would also add Richard Burton & Charles Laughton.
Great movie I’m enjoying it so much. Thank you.🇬🇧
At the time of Munich most of England was asleep, except for Churchill, Brendan Bracken Duff Cooper and a few others, Tommy Lascelles too!;)
This is appropriate for our times.

Now Britain has less than 200 tanks... some things never change.
Prototype for Kurt Vonnegut’s “Mother Night”. - Nick Nolte in the George Sanders role -John Goodman as the Secret Service handler.
I really enjoy these films - thanks! The special effects were very good for the day. 😊
These movies have such great music soundtracks.
"Never negotiate with terrorists." -Reagan
Last time I saw George Sanders was in the movie called, The Picture Of Dorian Gray. Man, he was the nasty conscience of poor Dorian.

Hi
GEORGE SANDERS WOULD HAVE MADE A GREAT JAMES BOND! ‘SHAKEN BUT NOT STIRRED’!😮

Then seconds later the pursuit planes find him in the dark, then seconds later a full bombing raid is unleashed right on the enemy target.
Very interesting to see movie makers in 1953 groping their way toward the James Bond industry even before Ian Fleming birthed the character,
Hmm good observation.
great flick!!!!
Excellent Sanders
George Sanders would have been an awesome James Bond.

Col. Patterson, Alan Napier, is Alfred from the old Batman series of the 1960s.
1:04 Germans had the steering wheel on the left side.
38:07 Get the atmospherics off the air, im trying to listen to the ball game !!!!! ( Kelly's Heroes reference)
Mostly Incorrect description
I suppose this movie was to run cover for Lord Haw Haw & try & convince allies that he was really a double agent
Good, much-needed, WWII propaganda flick. Thank you, S.S.
1:05:17 Get After them Schultz !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
George Sanders is original from Russia.
IT WOULD BE NICE IF THE MOVIE ACTUALLY WOULD APPEAR ON THE SCREEN ABOVE THE TITLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
