Jack Hawkins. Solid, dependable, wonderful. Such a perfect Actor. Even after all these years he still out performs any modern British Actor easily....He was one of my late Mothers favourites and he certainly is one of mine...RIP and thank you for all the enjoyable films I have seen you in.
All actors of the 40's and 50's, outperform all modern actors out there! Also, even a "B" movie of that time, is ten times better, than the best movies they make nowdays, from any kind of view. We live the era, where we have everything, but in reality, we have NOTHING, because they've turned us into beasts. We've lost our quality as human beings, because we lost all our virtues. There is no logic, no love, no respect, no patience, no nothing today....
@@JamesRichards-mj9kw Not many would agree with that. Yes, he typically played authority figures of a certain type, but his performances were often complex and subtle; unusual, given the limitations of the age and the subject matter, generally. Hawkins was a fine actor.

Almost recalls to mind Kirk Douglas, after his stroke, saying, "What does an actor do when he can't talk? Wait for silent movies to come back?" As for Hawkins, thankfully, filmmakers still wanted him so bad that they arranged, with his total support, for certain actors to dub his voice in the movies he did following his surgery.
