$20 US in 1960 was a lot of money. by 1965 every friday would have us carting back to the car from the supermarket about 6 paperbags of groceries in the trunk, 1 bag each in the footboot in the back seat and one each on the laps of 3 kids. These paper bags were the size of a medium sized microwave oven so they held quite a bit. Cans and heavies always fitted on the bottom; glass above that and the plastic bags items on top with the eggs so that nothing was eve on top of them or the bread.

Thank you for posting this, Tala, I really enjoyed it. I saw the ending years ago, did not know the title and could not find it. I've always like Basehart. Benton's narrations along with the incidental music brings "Danger Man" to mind. I wonder if there is a relationship to the series? Thank you again.
whatever grumpy snooty grinches...this is a hammer film not horror but camp silly cool I wish they made more ahem spy and war pictures it's a hammer film no more no less...lol..I enjoy it thanks 🎉
Synopsis: A pilot slips his plane into Red China to rescue an American girl trapped there, but when he lands he discovers that the girl has a surprise for him.

Terrible script. The guy goes up some backwater little stream right to Jimmy - how amazing none of the so called gunboats were around that prevented Jimmy going to HK by himself. Then a couple of Communist soldiers miraculously appear on the riverbank at the same moment. You know it wouldn’t cost any more production money to make the story a bit more believable. Not even ‘B-grade’
Good adventure film. enjoyable!
Basehart is natural in his acting style.. very nice ☺️ indeed 😀 thanks again
Yes...
If your playing a Tree 😂😂😂😂

Film of the time, good watch.
Well-paced and with splendid settings!
The soundtrach of this movie could have "inspired" Monty Norman ins his James Bond"s theme.
Bernard Cribbins is young in this. Cato before he had breakdown and started attacking his boss. Fun B movie.

Bert kwouk is in it so it is a banger!
Actual title "Visa to Canton"
Depends on where it was released.
Fabulous music soundtrack
In the 1940’s The Colonel character would have been played by the magnificent Sidney Greenstreet

An ad after 2 minutes!
Ah, the old days when white english actresses in makeup could play a chinese stereotype and get away with it...
And actors i must add...still an amusing time capsule.
Surely this must be later than 1960 ?
Before his career as a submarine commander.

Bernard Cribbins as a young man
Richard Basehart C grade movie
When peter glaze met Rick astley
Hammer would try anything then.
William Shatner started there
The title is Visa to Canton, no 'Passport to CHina."
Obviously a B movie with a cheap budget with weak stuffy boring acting, whatever possessed Basehart to take the roll, as below him.
you get what you pay for....this belongs on amazon primes FREE list.....
The opening "music" was enough to make me walk away.
cheesy!

This is a 1960 film, not a modern rendition . Your grandpa (lolo) would have enjoyed it. Stop complaining.
