Came for the pedals, stayed for the music. Not only was I NOT irritated with the background songs for once, but I want to know where I can buy your stuff!
What a list for 2023 !!! ...another list of perfection and surprises by our beloved Andy *The Brother We All Wish We Had* Martin!!!!.....and any time our brother evokes RUSH , my eyes well up with happy tears!!!...( The SideKick was my choice for - *Best Stomp Of 2023!!!* ...its absolutely musical, perfect in every way possible!!! ...😊
Thanks for always being the very best pedals reporter in the biz, Andy! I have bought most of my effects based on your recommendations, the only problem being that the saturation of new gear now has me a couple of years behind from what’s newest. I hope your schedule lets you keep up the fantastic work and I look forward to all your new vids.
Andy it's great to see your face again! You still amaze me with your fingerpicking! For the longest time I thought you were playing an invisible pick. You're definitely the best guitar pedal reviewer out there dawg!
I really dig that Stone Deaf Ovtave Fuzz, with the filter/Trem effect, you recently had a video on. The UA Marshall modeler, is probably the only pedal I may get from your list, but I really like the Benson Delay too. I love those chips. I’ve used a Kilobyte for 6 or 7 years now.
Good pick's Andy. Here are my top 10 of 2023: 1-Fender Shields Blends-if it's Shields approved, I'm buying it. Simple as that. 2-EHX Lizard Queen-Better than I thought it was going to be. Nice octave fuzz tones and great price. Best surprise pedal of 2023. Love it. 3-JHS Mary Kay-I have been waiting for a reissue of this pedal for years. Nice that they let you put an expression pedal on there too. 4-Warm Audio Mutation-good Mu-Tron reissue and classic phase tones. Love that Warm Audio sticks to classic styling with their pedals and does not put all those ugly psychedelic graphics that so many modern pedal companies use (ie: Earthquaker, Walrus Audio) 5-Ibanez Twin Peaks Wah- usually I stick to Vox, Dunlop, or EHX for wah but this Twin Peaks pedal offers some nice screaming tones and tight crunch wah. Plus I like the retro 80s Ibanez styling of pedal. 6-Catalinbread Soft Focus-if you are a fan of Slowdive, this is the rig you have been looking for 7-Strymon Deco-always a fan of the double track sound, Strymon did it right with this pedal and does it with classic minimalist old school styling. Good job. 7-EHX Walking on the Moon-like the Electric Mistress but more fine tuned into hitting those classic 80s Police flange sounds 9-Fender Waylon Jennings phaser-a wildcard pick, props to Fender for giving tribute to WJ with this pedal. 10-T-Rex Bison EchoRec-sure it's 2k in cost but it sounds amazing and in the classic words of Ferris Bueller "If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up".
That’s awesome, I’m glad you have found me on both channels! Guitar demos--maybe! It all depends on which companies want a demo and have inventory to lend. It’s always a nice change of pace 👍🏻
Very respectable list. Slightly disappointed not to see the Boss Delay Machine in there, but not surprised. The Benson delay is very, very good. I do think the Boss is more impressive (though I admit at $500 USD it is less accessible than the Benson), but it felt like the Benson was such a surprise it really stole Boss’ thunder. In the end I’m thankful to have so many nice options out there now.
As a fan of flangers, I thought the Airborn sounded nice. The sweep seems somewhat hypertriangular, when I hear how fast it turns around at the top of the sweep. And it sounds like it took a few tricks from the A/DA flanger, in terms of being able to have a very wide sweep. I still think the Line 6 Liqui-Flange is underappreciated for the range of possible sounds it can produce, *including* actual through -zero. But I wouldn't be disappointed by owning an Airborn.
Shields pedal is nice…sounded very familiar. Very close to what my Foxxy set to octave up, with a Boss OC sounds like. It’s pretty much that sound here. But if you didn’t have a 70s OC up fuzz, and a separate octave down pedal…comparing prices. The shield kind of does that sound all in one box at the same price. It’s a fun sound you can base a ton of songs around! Just add some effects and go to town!
Jet plane swoosh, just what I'm looking for in my Blues playing. LOLOLOL I love Andy and I'm glad he's still around for sure. That said, the pedal market is so over saturated I can't help but feel 75% of them will be no more very soon. Way too many that do the exact same thing and then there's the big Ber out of China who builds some really decent clones for $30 to $50
Wish there was a flanger pedal with distortion or fuzz built in. The jet sound can't be accomplished without it. Guess i have to keep using the zoom ms50
I am genuinely stumped as to why everyone loves the Benson Delay so much. How is it any different than every other PT2399 delay? There's so many of them now.
The demo goes into it more.... but it's surrounding the 2399 chip with all the usual filters and compander that lessen the noise of a BBD. So, the voicing is very similar to analog! Plus, those other PT-2399 delays are nice but stay within the recommended range of 400-600ms, where the Benson is 1250ms without sounding all broken up.
"I kinda have to draw the line somewhere" Just out of curiosity, what made you decide that the 12th was where you had to draw the line? 🤔 I'm doing my 2023 rundown on the 31st. 🤓
I love the sound of all of the UA amp pedals, but I just wish they weren't so expensive. If you were building a little studio and wanted some amp models (say in a pedal form, as opposed to actual amps), these sound great, but at over $300 apiece, aren't terribly economical you want all the sounds. Especially with things like the Boss IR-2. I keep hoping that UA will put all their amp models in a single rackmount or multi-pedal box...
Frankly, I’m disappointed. None of these really do anything new or outstandingly better than what’s been available before. I expected something more interesting.
The pedal market has been saturated for a couple years, now. There's still new builders trying to cash in every month, but unless you're doing something truly unique, - high to lowest end, - it's covered. That's why originals like EQD are trying to perfect and simplify, - there's not much left to add.
Andy, what a guy. Glad he's still around
Me, too! Thanks so much :)
@AndyDemos best picker who never uses a pick. Seriously adore your demos mate!

Did I just hear a mashup of Spirit of Radio and Message in a Bottle in the flanger demo ? Two thumbs up 👍🏻 👍🏻
Airborn is by far the best flanger in the market. I discovered a set of new tones I'd never imagine using this pedal. Amazing to see it here!
I wrote Andy Demos on the browser because I love his videos.

Andy’s playing has always blown my mind, especially his right hand
Krozz Devices is one of the best efx company! Love Airborn, Albino Rhino. Krakenheart v2 coming soon
Brazil! Great pedals from Krozz Devices, worth to take a look
Andy gets #1 for youtube pedal reviews…again!

The Airborn Flanger by Krozz Devices is a real game changer. Great pick!
Great choices!
I have an Airborn flanger and God, it quickly became part of my distorted sound. It works great with high gain.
I always respect Andy’s opinion as the og pedal demo guy.
Love the Darmok shirt!
Andy rules!
Awesome reviews as Always Andy!!!👍😎🎸
That benson delay is something else wow
Nice little recap of your favs! My fav has to be Origin Effects DCX Boost.
Hey thanks! The DCX is quite a secret weapon, loved the dynamics on that one.
Hey Andy. I watch this and your own channel just as much for the tunes as the gear. Will you be reviewing guitars again in the future?
That’s awesome, I’m glad you have found me on both channels! Guitar demos--maybe! It all depends on which companies want a demo and have inventory to lend. It’s always a nice change of pace 👍🏻
I know you get this all the time but Andy really is the best demo guy out there, so good at it.
I was hoping the Benson delay was on the best of 2023. Really great sounding delay
Love my Lion, and love Andy’s videos!

These were things I had a chance to demo and the Boss didn't get over to me yet. Hopefully later I'll make a demo!

Interesting selection Andy. Nothing too radical, great sounding basic stuff. Happy holidays! 😎🎸🎅🏼🕎

Ooo like the blue flame! Pelham?🤔
We're in the golden age of pedals phase 3.
You made the Lion sound good. Every other demo I've seen of it, I was very disappointed in how it sounded.
Well, happy to help! It may be because my favorite amp is a 72 100w and I tried to stick to that gain range (it goes way beyond) 👊💥👊
