It’s so nice to see Janis smiling and laughing with the crowd. Her iconic song,’At Seventeen’ is so relatable. It breaks my heart at age 58. I’m so glad Janis finally found marital and emotional happiness with her wife.Blessed be.
Beautiful Story ❤️ I'm so happy Janis Ian found love Never is too late to get married everyone has a heart to love each others❤️ Congrat!!! Thanks for sharing
Thank you for sharing. 40 yrs ago I identified with your song At Seventeen. I was an awkward pimply gay teenager who never got picked for the basketball team. Which was ironic, because I was the tallest person in school. And after seeing this bit about you being married to your wonderful wife being a gay man 40 years later I still identify with your story. Although I am not married or probably ever will be I did find my love of my life whom I spent 23 years with before his death. When he died marriage wasn't legal. You think it's just a piece of paper until no one cared enough to sign it with you. when you find someone who was willing to sign a marriage certificate with you you go for it and enjoy it and be thankful. Much love to you and your lovely wife. No I've never seen her but anyone who can marry you must be lovely. thank you for being an inspiration throughout my whole life whether you realize it or not.
Thank you for sharing your story with us Erik. I am sorry for your loss. I also hope with all my heart that you find the love you are looking for. regards Gordo.
Bless you, Janis and Pat. I was a shy hetero high school girl who didn't play sports. But college helped me blossom. Your song lifted me up and carried me. Your music was a huge gift. My husband and I have been married for 50 years. No kids, on purpose, just we two. I wish you and Pat the same joy and contentment.
I have loved Janis Ian since I heard her sing Society’s Child. Very ahead of her time and in touch with truth and righteousness! She has always been more beautiful than any society debutante! Her music is so real and soul touching. ❤️
This is brilliant, I can't stop smiling! I've always loved Janis' music but it's lovely to get an insight to this warm, funny, honest woman. I've saved this to watch again :)
Thank you for posting this. I am 48 and my brother brought other side of the sun home , it was so different but we fell in love with it. He played it so much my mum broke it in half. We went and got it again lol. I was 13 . He married his partner in a civil ceremony three yrs ago. I knew he was gay but he kept it hidden from the family until I was 25 . Such a shame . Loves you janis you are the sound track to my teenage yrs xoxox
You are so hilarious! Thank you for sharing this heartwarming insight into your experience getting married! How wonderful! I'll be smiling for a long time thinking about your story and song!
Oh... I KNOW at the very end when she re-sets the capo on her guitar she's GONNA PLAY 'At Seventeen'! That's where she always puts it for that song! I'm SO PROUD of Janis Ian! For her life, her songs, and how she's quite happy to tell the world just how it is. Born in 1951, she wrote "Society's Child" at 13-14 years old and had a hit with it in 1965-1966. We thought she was heterosexual then, green dress, earings, boyfriend.... but her life has become proof that she knew darn well what she was doing and what she wanted and all these years later, she got a Grammy in 2013 for an excellent audible album about her life! Yay, Janis!
Critical. - I grew up on Minnesota. I've been to Canada about a handful of times. Every time I visited I've always found Canadians to be very accepting and the nicest people. You SHOULD be proud!
Love to you, Janis. You're welcome in our country--Canada--anytime you can get back over the border! Keep singing, and thanks for "Better Times"...sing it everyday now.
What else is left to say I really learned the truth at seventeen and ten I heard the song l love the woman you are especially in this society I love all your music my favourite Artist love to you and pat
Great story. It's not just a piece of paper! It's a bond between two loving people. Its witnessed by many and is blessed by God. God doesn't care who you are. So why do so many people protest against marriages like hers. I wish the two of you the very best. When I was seventeen I too didnt fit in. I am now 66 and I still don't feel like I fit in. My dream is to one day have a date with a lady and fall in love!
I love Janis & her music but I have to set you right...God can never bless her & Pat's union...God CANNOT bless sin...it is impossible for a righteous God to do that.
Love it Janis!!!!! Yep, normal it is.. sad when a fiancé is somewhat embarrassed about all this lead up to a marriage. You should have seen a gentleman up in Northern part of our GTA fumble over two women picking out invitations...more awkward back in early 2000's . They would have been the first couple to have bands read and posted then we'd. Yes, tense is correct too. Love the song Janis. Life is hard.. that's for sure, it takes a few to make it a bit easier 😉! 🇨🇦 🍁
Ooops ! I’m not a great fan of hers, although I appreciate her talent, she’s too downbeat for me. I haven’t read much about her, I didn’t know that she was gay .

Thank you Janis for being you. I loved this & laughed so much. It's really priceless.

I cried when she said they both cried when they were pronounced married. 💕
And today the U S Congress finally codified it it law.
God Bless your Heart !

I'm getting married in my PJs
Loved this.
what good humor.
Awesome song, though I'm glad that the lyrics are now obsolete in the US. Took long enough!

She was younger than
Janis Joplin.
❤️🥰
Minister ?? I thought she was Jewish ✡️
She is Jewish, me too and I am also married in the Netherlands 2003 to a woman
She is real, a good human being.
Hahaha x
I would like a fella with her wit 😉x

I guess Bill Cosby was right after all.
iVenge he and James Dean
I don't hate her at all...but sadly, the Bible is SO out of Vogue!
🏳️🌈🤍
What's so funny?!
