It's still being done. Massive headshots of the asshole appear at the top of stories that may or may not be all about him. You have to see it before you can scroll past it to read the copy. Personally, I'd prefer photos of his actual asshole. Not just because it's probably better looking than his face but because it would indicate what, exactly, the old dude is spewing forth. It's all basically celeb-pornography anyway you cut it. Media really could be more creative.

George Stephanopoulos is one of the very few journalists, producers, writers, and hosts that I respect.
He's not a 'newsreader'. He's an experienced behind-the-scenes political guy who worked for Clinton's campaign and White House before turning to journalism, becoming a full on journalist, producer, writer, and eventual host of the Sunday political show on abc. Good Morning America was a new 'lite' venture for him in which he was out of his element (as the morning shows lack the seriousness of other news programming), but he's become more comfortable. But he's not just some talking head reading teleprompters.

I remember that back in 2016 Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC did show an empty podium for several minutes straight when trump was late for one of his own campign rallies. (The speach that Hillary Clinton held at the same time did conviniently not get any live coverage.)
That was such an inappropriate elevation of that small person. I found it unforgivable back then and it also a perfect example for the attitude that the US media had towards the Manchurian Candidate. And that kept on even after he became the Machurian President. There might have been some honest journalists then but they were not visible at all. What we saw instead were those endless 'discussion' rounds stacked with trumpist pundits that were allowed to spread their falshoods with no check whatsoever. I guess the ratings and the ad revenues were great those days.
Independent media is what I watch now...The Meidas Touch, Brian Tyler Cohen and The Rational National are great sources of the facts.

Yes, I agree with what you say here. Even NPR was guilty of this. One time I wrote to the reporter who covered an event with 45 but did not cover Hillary. They wrote back saying that the coverage of Hillary was on the NPR website. 😳. Not exactly equal. Has anyone ever visited the NPR website for news? I did write back that in the future, any coverage of a candidate HAS to be equal to the time and day and program that the other candidate was covered on. We’ll have to wait and see if they learned anything or if they pay attention to their listeners.

I agree. Report the truth and not the lie. I responded similarly on two of the Maggie Haberman vids last week. Reporting the truth is a journalist's main job.
Once again, let me add that practical advice for journalists regarding effectively dealing with politicians like the former prez (who is a symptom of this kind of politics and not the cause) is included in political scientists Jacob Hacker and Paul Pierson's 2011 book Winner-Take-All Politics.
It is another source of professional tips and advice for journalists dealing with unprofessional politicians. It's helpful for regular citizens too. :)
