Can u plz make a vid on the 8th gen iPad I'm gonna get it so I want ur opinion and all I'm buying it for note-taking and like literally everything so I want ur suggestions and review of it plzzzz and some advice or tips for note-taking on it
I got accepted into the nursing program so I'm really nailing down on what I could do to help me through. Thank you, you helped me pass my pre requisites so I appreciate you videos a lot!!
Good timing! Now, I know what kind of notetaking method I will use for certain uses. My theory: Active recall - Cornell Method > Active recall works better if you understand the subject Understanding concepts - Mapping and Charting Conclusion: My lecture notes are messy so I will reorganize it into cornell method or just type in the questions to Anki or other quizzing apps. Next, I will start understanding the concepts and use mind mapping to get the Big Picture. Charting method is for deeper analysis (optional: I would only use it if I have free time). I will test this out for the next semester and wonder if it works. For subjects that require mathematics....idk. practice?
For Math, I would advise you to write the formulas for each lesson separately then understand the formula or main idea by writing notes around it. Also, I summarize how I understood the concept by writing a summary in words only and underlining important key words. Since I’m a visual learner, diagrams help me sometimes. Hope these might be helpful :)
learned cornell in middle school , absolutely hated it bc the notes part was just outline format but doing the question and repose idea is brilliant !!
i dont know what it is but whenever I see you videos it is so aesthetic, gives me a boost of positivity, useful and ur voice is so calming ...gurl u desrveee a million subs
in the beginning of middle school, i always used those charts but as the amount of material increased and i couldn’t fit everything into a neat chart i tried out the cornell, mapping, and just bullet point notes! i think something to remember is that just as different people have different note taking styles, different topics are better suited towards different types of notes as well :)
I know this comment is a year old, but the way of note taking also depends on how good your understanding is and how much of the information you've already learned. For example, the charting method or mapping might be hard to do at the beginning of a topic because you might not know how certain subtopics connect or you simply don't have enough information to compare certain aspects.
Hi Janice! I saw you used a high lighter to circle and draw an arrow during the chart method, I think you should try using the PowerPoint feature! It’s like a laser pointer but lasts a few seconds and if you keep drawing with it then it remains a little longer. Just a small suggestion!
Hi Janice! could you do a video for note taking "during" lectures or classes. I follow your instruction regarding note taking after class or from textbook, but during lectures, hand writing always seems to be too slow for me and I use typing on laptop to overcome this problem, but I'd like to see your technique about this!! thank you.
I save power points as a 3 slide pdf handout. PowerPoint puts lines next to the slides so you can take neat notes next to slide. I upload the PDF to Goodnotes and voila! As I revise, I can add things from the book around. Depending on the subject, I don't even rewrite my notes, and these end up being the basis of my studying. :) I would also love to see Janice's method!
@@stephanievize8448 I tried this method but I can only put 2or 4slides on one page, plus, they occupied whole page, there’s no extra space next to the slides to let me write notes on 😰
She said in a comment that you can take regular notes (I'm not entirely sure what lectures are because I'm a middle school student, but I assume you gotta be quick) then make it easier to understand, which is helpful as it's easier to understand and you're writing everything twice, so it sticks into your mind.
I've used the cornell method for the entire last semester. It did make studying and even paying attention in lectures a more active learning process. However, I'm kind of missing a certain creativity. My page is almost too structured and there are classes where we don't need to memorize anything. That's why I'm going to do a few things different this semester. Still looking for a something in between. Charting sadly isn't really helpful for my classes and I was never a fan of mapping.
@@pmmeurcatpics Yes I do! I basically ended up doing something in between. Especially for the subjects where I actually learned a lot of new information. I would scribble it down in a similar way to the cornell method and then take the time to make good looking notes out of them. I rely a lot on the box method. It works exceptionally well for small subtopics. Basically, you write down a few notes on the subtopic and draw a box around that subtopic. That way, it's very structured and time saving, but you can still save space if you want to draw stuff. I use Anki for active recall so what I do is I take screenshots of my boxes and use the image occlusion tool. For the box method, you can look up "Trangsadventures" My note taking style isn't as active anymore, because I don't really study with them. My notes are more of a quick summary that helps me to understand the topic. Also, I think there's no one size fits all with studying so do whatever works for you :)
How do you upload your pages on GoodNotes, and add them to your template of pages because I don’t know how to do that! I’ve been struggling to add into my current page templates
Hi Janice I have a video idea idk if this is right but I always see these adorable doodles in your channel idk if you make them or not but their so cute so if you draw them can you make a video with those drawings without color so we can screenshot and color them in?
Hi Janice! Can you please put the normal squared/dotted/plain white paper (without the thick cornell line) as a Template because I use an android and the squares in the notes app that I use are too big and your squares and dots are the perfect size for me.
Sorry if this sounds dumb. But aren’t these note taking methods good for at home or textbook note taking? Like I can’t imagine doing this in a live lecture. How then would I take notes in a way were I can convert it to these methods? Any tips?
Do you use OneNote? I don't have a ipad pro only a Chromebook. What app would you recommend for a chromebook? I tried Onenote but I don't really understand it.
I have a whole video on how to use OneNote which I found students really enjoyed! ruclips.net/video/pH1o3w_mLrw/видео.html Hope this video helps you understand it a tad more because it’s the one I would use on a Chromebook 😃

I don't try to be aesthetic, but I like to colour everything because, I feel it helps me remember it better. If my notes are too dull it makes me unmotivated to study
True, but if it's just for a header or sum, why not? (I don't believe her notes are "aesthetic", they're just really neat and organized, which is more than enough).
