I think I've said this before but I have never liked System of a Down. Let's see in this upcoming year how many people put them on a pedestal As legendary Artists.. I mean people can like what they want but I just don't understand it there is nothing good about that band If there's a System of a Down fan reading this please give me a couple of examples on why they're so good

What I love about this revival is the fact that I bought White Pony album when it came out because all alt chicks at my school loved it and it worked. And now decades later same strategy is still working somehow for young lads. My prediction is that early era Nine Inch Nails will come back next.

I'm 44 and played bass in a few nu metal bands since around 98. Had the dreadlocks, pierced eyebrow, big a$$ cargo pants, sweat wrist bands, etc. I now have a recording studio and continue to write nu metal music.. I just never stopped all these years.

After 38 years I'm finally kinda bored of nu-metal tbh. I attribute this to years of therapy with a good therapist. Korn, Slipknot, and Mudvayne never get boring to me. White Pony is a great album though.
Kids listening to nu metal today is like my time in the late 90s/early 2000s when we liked the classic rock bands of the 60s and 70s. Everything from 20 years before your time become cool again for a while.
Where I was at in the 90s, the genre wasn’t looked down on as much as the fans were. Most nu-metal fans were The Dumb Kids. The future career petty criminals. The sniffing Actual Spray Paint before school kids.
Man, I got into nu-metal in like 2006. I was the "has-been" nu-metaller; not even a fan during it's prime, and like you said even if I was I'd still be bashed on. The has-been nu-metaller was so jaded we weren't even made fun of, just judged from a distance. It's amazing to see this resurgence of the genre, which is possibly even bigger than it's time during the late 90's/early 00's.

Multi-influenced wing bands like Deftones and Incubus are my favorite. Next would be the heavy wing with Slipknot and Mudvayne. I do like the hip hop influenced bands too, P.O.D is great. I like a lot of nu metal.

I just saw Hed Pe ( Im 23 ) like last Saturday and they came to my hometown, and bro let me tell you they actually put on one of the best shows I've attended. Old man can get tf down. I felt like you should do an episode on them because they ended up in the nu metal bunch but they came from the angle of punk, am I correct? I love Hed (Pe) and earlier on they definitely had a Nu-Metal sound. They kinda went into a punk direction for a while around their 4th or 5th album but I like all their stuff.
I saw them back in April and had the same experience. They absolutely rocked the house. I've been a fan since way before I should've been.. like 8 years old, so going on 20 years now (thanks dad) I wish Finn would do a deep dive on them. I think they officially describe themselves as G-punk but Broke and Blackout clearly fit the nu metal criteria.
growing up I hated labels. on one hand they can be used simply to describe something so the other person has a good idea of what you're talking about, but on the other hand people who have an outsiders perspective will see elements of something and label you, the music, or whatever as being totally this or that. labels have their uses, but a lot of the time they're used as a dumb easy way to mentally categorize things based on surface level appearances by people who don't really know what they're looking at.

I just saw Hed Pe ( Im 23 ) like last Saturday and they came to my hometown, and bro let me tell you they actually put on one of the best shows I've attended. Old man can get tf down. I felt like you should do an episode on them because they ended up in the nu metal bunch but they came from the angle of punk, am I correct? Anyway I've been waiting for you to mention that band in all honesty because I think they actually go hard as fuck lol

I love Hed (Pe) and earlier on they definitely had a Nu-Metal sound. They kinda went into a punk direction for a while around their 4th or 5th album but I like all their stuff.
I saw them back in April and had the same experience. They absolutely rocked the house. I've been a fan since way before I should've been.. like 8 years old, so going on 20 years now (thanks dad)
I wish Finn would do a deep dive on them. I think they officially describe themselves as G-punk but Broke and Blackout clearly fit the nu metal criteria.

growing up I hated labels. on one hand they can be used simply to describe something so the other person has a good idea of what you're talking about, but on the other hand people who have an outsiders perspective will see elements of something and label you, the music, or whatever as being totally this or that. labels have their uses, but a lot of the time they're used as a dumb easy way to mentally categorize things based on surface level appearances by people who don't really know what they're looking at.
