    The sopranos do not drown out the other marvellous voices as the some times do.

      This was definitely one of my favorite choral pieces that we sang (I was part of a chamber choir). I always felt depressed all day at school, and chamber choir was the last class of the day. Anyways, I remember feeling a sense of hope whenever we sang this, and to this day, listening to this song gives me that same sense of hope.

    It’s a beautiful song, but I was looking at the sheet music I have for this song, (I’m singing it in advanced choir) and I couldnt keep track of the words. Like after “and swallows circling with their shimmering sound,” what should have come next was, “and not one will know of the war, not one will care when it’s done.” I just couldn’t hear that.

      There Will Come Soft Rains
      There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground,
      And swallows circling with their shimmering sound;
      And frogs in the pools singing at night,
      And wild plum trees in tremulous white;
      Robins will wear their feathery fire,
      Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire;
      And not one will know of the war, not one
      Will care at last when it is done.
      Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree,
      If mankind perished utterly;
      And Spring herself when she woke at dawn
      Would scarcely know that we were gone.
      Sara Teasdale (1884-1933)
