It's been a while since I've been searching for a perfect version of Ravel's 'Ma mere l'oye' and I stumbled across Oslo Phil interpret this piece which will forever be the best version. The articulation, the expression- everything is just beyond words to describe how beautiful it is- so much so that it bought me to tears towards the end. The perfection of the movement 'Laideronnette, impératrice des Pagodes' is just MAGICAL and magnificent! Thank you tons Oslo Phil for creating this art a therapy, indeed.
Try Claudio Abbado's with the London Symphony Orchestra. There you can sense the glitter of the spring.
Magnificent 🥰
Pierre Boulez and the Berliner Philharmoniker are the best in my opinion
I think Ma Mère l'Oye contains some of the funniest and most beautiful woodwind music ever written. By the way, the Oslo Phil under Gaffigan sounds marvelous, what wonderful soloists they have.
An incredible interpretation and playing. I am on an Oslo Philharmonic binge today.
I've heard a number of major symphonies perform this remarkable, moving composition by Ravel (both in person and recordings) -- but this incredible performance by the Oslo will have to stand as my favorite. Kudos to the members and to conductor Gaffigan!
Too many ads. Ugh. But beautiful superb performance by a great orchestra. Oslo never disappoints.
So excited to see the Oslo Phil interpret Ravel again!
Love the Cello lady getting into it.... swing sister......
An absolutely magical performance. This has to be the best I have heard. Thank you to the wonderful orchestra and conductor. You have reminded an old man of the miracle of music and brought a tear to my eye.
I have a soft spot for this piece and i agree with other commments, this version is really good!
Thanks to everyone in the orchestra, the hall, and among the recording engineers, both audio and video, for being brave enough to give us all the privilege of hearing and seeing an orchestra once more, in the midst of this pandemic. Kudos! And how wonderfully apropos the piece!
Just here, listening to Ravel while rain falls outside ☁☁☁ loving it 💙💙💙
What could possibly be to dislike about this exquisite performance? Who ARE those four disapprovers?
They have been... 'dealt with,' David. I assure you. 😐
Absolutely magnificent!!! Every tempo perfect, every accent crisp and decisive - wonderful playing by all the solo parts, particularly English horn - hard to imagine a more thrilling performance of this other-worldly piece of music!!! Bravo indeed!!!!!
Thank you for helping the world.
Bravo. So powerful. Gorgeous performance.Gonna listen more recordings of James Gaffigan.
Thank you very much, the marvelous members. I fully enjoy Ravel's chef d'oeuvre.
Absolutely gorgeous, exquisite, sublime. Thank you for this incredible recording. The clarity and depth of the sound was amazing.
¡¡¡¡¡¡Maravilloso¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ Orquesta, Director y por supuesto ¡¡¡¡RAVEL¡¡¡¡ Muchas gracias.
ONE OF THE BEST
Spectacular, sumptuous playing!
I am speechless.
deeply appreciate this wonderful post. I am sorry I have never heard this live inspite of looking out for it. Really hope to be able to watch your orchestra live soon. I have had recordings from the Jansons era and you are a very special and versatile orchestra.
🤩 STUNNING!!!!!!!!
¡Hermoso! ¡Bravísimooooo! 👏👏👏👏👏
COOL
Omg the spacing. One day the world will look back at this time when 90 percent of the population lost its mind.
77 million lost their mind.
Brilliant.
COOL!
genialne wykonanie
So familiar with this enchanting Ravel composition. Have to say I thought the BSO recording was the best -- but this tremendous interpretation by a great symphony surpasses any others I"ve heard. It's the best version yet, IMO.
Que bonito.!!!!
Muito bom, perfeita harmonia

Dicen que Ravel tuvo problemas, para la música, pero es tan hermoso todo lo que escucho.🌺♥️🌹
Incredible! Perfect performance! How did you do that?

Ma mère l'Oye by Ravel
dear youtube: i swear i’ll boycott every company and product you show me. how dare you interrupt the quietest, most ethereal parts with your loud, vulgar ads? have you no decency?
This is obviously the complete ballet. It might have been nice to indicate that.
I love this ballet but the constant interruption of commercials really ruins the listening experience
Pour moi, Pierre Boulez à la meilleure version
I agree
Too many men!
there will never be too many men
what a witless tuned-out comment to an utterly touching composition, and played in Oslo with exquisite tenderness. Blind prejudice.
