I have to say my biggest bass came on a jig, 5.5lbs. I have caught several around that size. My local ponds are very grassy so it is not my go to bait unless I get out to the larger impoundments once or twice a year. It is a very fun bite for sure. Thanks Sean for all you do, so helpful! See ya soon
I love to jig fish. Pour and tie up my own jigs and make the trailers that I use. The biggest bass I’ve caught on jigs is about a 5 1/2 pound largemouth. Thanks for sharing the videos!
My biggest on a jig is 6-15 caught out of Big Hill lake in KS. Pleased to say I had made the jig myself. Really appreciate your videos and learn a lot.
I’ve learned more from your videos and look forward to the new ones. I only bank fish and have never thought about throwing a jig from the bank. I’d love to learn if a jig works from the bank. The lakes I fish are all rock/shale bottom and I throw a shaky head and Texas rig to feel the bottom. Hope I get picked so I can learn a jig.
I would definitely give it a try. I had a friend that fished from the bank all the time. He fell in love with a 3/4oz football head jig and did very well with it.
I really enjoy your videos! I live in the east coast in the mountains of Virginia. We fish very similar in these highland reservoirs near me. I love to fish the same techniques you teach about. Great content!
@ I do throw some, I need to commit to it more than I do. I watched your vid on the sneaky Pete and will probably pick one up soon. I’m a jig nut but more glide baits in my future for sure.
I have only caught one bass on a jig, and I don't remember the size. I do want to learn how to fish a jig better. Much appreciation for you and your videos!
My PBs were caught in April 1995 on jigs. Largemouth was 8.2# and smallie was 6.4#. Jig was 1/4 oz homemade brown rubber skirt with small pork ring trailer. Both from Tellico Lake in TN.
@ also I remember you saying look for rock and maybe hard bottom and found both I guess it is called transition points? Anywho since I was fishing the bank at Shasta didn’t have may places but I did find some and when all said and done I caught 8 bass 2 dinks on a worm 6 on a jig best 5 weighted 15.47 from what my Bubba scale said . Keep them videos coming I appreciate you,Tight lines
Lots of rock in Shasta. Those transition areas are key. From one type of bottom to another. Could be different size rock, they love red clay at Shasta.
Awesome video. I love fishing jigs but don't throw them as much since moving to Florida. Best day I had was a black and blue jig in clear water but into cover like trees and grass edges. Keep the videos coming!!
I love jig fishing the Biggest I’ve caught is a 6.73 on a keitech tungsten model 2 jig that was green pumpkin blue flake. Thank you for another great video I would love to add some more jigs to my arsenal, I’m a tackle junkie at heart so there is always a desire to have more 😂.
Thanks for the video. I had some luck flipping jigs into reeds and under docks this past summer. I need to start catching some deep jig fish now that the water is cold. I think my biggest jig fish last year was 18” long. I flipped into some super shallow reeds and he absolutely hammered it.
Thanx AA. Your going to make jig fisherman out of your subscribers yet. You gotta watch it cause some people never figure out the jig. I started with bitzy bugs witch got my confidence up and moved to Denny braur pro model jig (wish they still made the old style). Maybe start these guys on finesse jigs then to full size jigs. I find myself picking up the little Missle baits jig just to get bit. I'm set on jigs but thats a nice thing your doing.
I hear ya. I learned with a regular jig, at the time all I threw was black and blue. Denny and Dee Thomas were the guys I looked up to. The jigs I’ve suggested I consider finesse jigs. There are still micro jigs but I find the Bass Union gets bit everywhere as does the model of the California Res lures. The bitsy bug was the only small jig I remember from the old days. Jigs used to come with rattles back in the day. lol. Man I’m getting old.
Great video!! I am trying to get better at jugs and have had some good day’s with them at times. My beast is probably 5lbs sofar. I been fishing for a long time but just didn’t have jigs in my arsenal. New subscriber here and thanks for the info! 💪🏻
I’ve fished a jig as a co angler many times. Key to fishing as a co angler is being versatile. You will have your chances throughout the day. You need to adapt based on what the boater is giving you as far as structure. I can cast a 3/4 oz jig a long ways.
Jigs are great 365...my biggest Small mouth on Table Rock lake came on a jig..have you tried the Pee Wee football jig? If you haven't best order some ...I do enjoy your videos keep up the good work
@TheAverageAngler jewel bait company..they also have a pee wee HD which is just as small but heavier hook and weed guard...tw has em or jewel bait company site
My biggest jig bass was 3.4lbs. For me, jigs do produce a bigger fish, but it tests my patience. It's weird, I can finesse worms all day, but for since reason, I find jigs to be too slow. Maybe it's the infrequent bites. Thanks.
I think it takes a little success at some point. Whether it be a 100 fish day or catching a giant. Once those happen it is easier to have the patience.
I don’t want to say you’re wasting money. I mean, the Keitech is tungsten. In that case I’m sure it’s part of keeping a smaller profile. That said , I fish lead jigs 95% of the time and have no issues with feel. I also tend to fish heavier jigs, 1/2 to 3/4 oz majority of the time.
4.8#'s California Delta California swim jig in bluegill is my jig pb not great I know. Never done very good in the winter fishing deeper with the football .........
@@TheAverageAngler I don't get many chances tomfish the delta anymore. I live further north now so I mainly fish Shasta,Whiskeytown,Black butte and Trinity occasionally.....
If you order off his site you can choose between a 3/0 or 4/0 hook. He also has a YT channel where you can see him tie jigs and catch fish with them. You can also mix colors as you wish.
@ a really snack snized small, hand tied jig with a great hook is hard to find. Being this is rubber skirting seems like the cherry on top. Thanks for mentioning this, looking forward to trying them.
I used to be same way Larry. I remember dragging a jig first time about 12 yrs ago. Felt like dragging a mop! 😂 But since my first jig fish, I ALWAYS have tied on one of my rods. Yes fewer bites, but definitely bigger bites. Best advice- start with a smaller finesse jig for sure!! And stick with it. Good luck and God bless!!
Great video thank you and love the way you described how to work the jig I’ve been doing it wrong so that’s probably the main reason I haven’t caught a fish on a jig
That exactly what I used to do. Then I started making my own jigs. Now I just don’t have the time or space that I used to. When I started painting baits , the jig tying went away. I’ll also tie the skirts onto my spinner baits and buzz baits.

The sneaky Pete is a great choice. It’s a great bait and very productive.
@@TheAverageAngler would love to see an on the water video someday using glides . I’m also interested in some darter head instructions or tips.
I will get to both of those in the next month or so.

Sean I tried the slide method with the jig and just caught a 3.05 out here on Shasta 👍👍 thank you again for all your insight on bass fishing

It seems flipping plastics is more the deal in Florida. They do have heavy punch jigs as well. Thank you.
4lb spotted bass on a 1/2oz bass union jig.

Good stuff it’s always jig season.
Yes sir.
My largest was an 8 1/2 lb on a 1/4oz green pumpkin jig with black zoom salty chunk .
Ice fish. 1/4 oz ? Were you fishing shallow?
Night fishing, in about 8 ft on a point that transitioned from baseball sized rock to gravel sized rock
Awesome. That sounds like an ideal location.

Does the bass union jigs have a better hook than the Keitech jigs?
It is a Gamakatsu hook. I don’t think it get much better. The both do. The BU is a little bigger hook. And they use round rubber.
