  • How to hardwire dash cam to fuse box of a 2019 Acura RDX or other similar Honda or Acura vehicles. The dash cam I am hardwiring is a Rexing V1 using a hardwire kit. By hardwiring into fuse box, the dash cam turns on and off with the start/stop of the car with no messy cords.
    Here are the links to the items in the video:
    Hardwire kit - Looks like Amazon no longer sells the kit I used, but here's one that is almost identical. Make sure to get either a mini or micro USB cable depending on your camera. This one is for a mini USB:

      Great video and thank you. I have a 2018 TLX A-Spec. I'm trying to find a video on how to work to A-pillar without setting off the A-Pillar airbag. That's my fear.

    For everyone asking about the A-pillar, it's super easy, you don't even have to remove the whole thing.
    Step 1: Pull the rubber trim moulding around the door and A-pillar back (super easy to put back).
    Step 2: Gently pull from the top of the A-pillar (near the roof), a single tab should pop off, don't pull back or pull anymore once you pop the first tab.
    Step 3: You should have plenty of room to run the cable behind the airbag

      This is just general electrical safety, but anytime you are working with electrical equipment, you should go ahead and disconnect the battery, before starting any automotive electrical work.

    On my 2019 RDX Advance, I found 2 'spare' slots using a fuse tester. I used slot #6 for BATT (+ side up) and slot #8 for ACC (+ side down). Parking mode works great.
    Dashcam: VIOFO A129 Plus.
    Hardwire kit: HK3 ACC Mini-USB.

    Which one goes to the fuse and what do you do with the other one?

    Do you know what kind of fuse the RDX uses?

    did it happen you needed to unhook the plug everytime you park inside your garage? As what the point of continous recording inside garage and leave it on while parking outside for few hours right?

    • @wearefamilee007

      By using the specific fuse, the camera would automatically turn off when I turned off the engine so it wouldn't drain the battery.

    • @johnlee8635
      @johnlee8635 3 года назад

      Hi Jose, I'm not 100 percent sure, but I believe the fuse shouldn't matter and the internal battery in the dash cam would be used to record while in "parking mode".

    I wanted to see how to remove the pillar panel. Did someone else do that for you? Otherwise I would have expected you to record that.

    • @wearefamilee007
      @wearefamilee007  3 года назад

      I removed the pillar panel myself. I just didn’t get a chance to record it. It’s not too difficult. The panel will easily come loose by pulling it away and if you want to completely remove it, just shift it up towards the roof (left) to “unhook” the clip.

    Hey boss quick question.. by hardwiring your new acura rdx do you think would void the warranty if something went wrong ?

    • @wearefamilee007
      @wearefamilee007  3 года назад

      I can’t state for sure but my opinion would be that it shouldn’t affect the warranty as it’s not messing with any factory settings or modifying anything that could have an impact on the performance or safety of the vehicle. Again, just my opinion though.

    • @GMSSS

    Does your start-stop function still work?
    I noticed after I hardwired my dash cam
    My start-stop stopped working. I used the accessory (10A) and sunroof fuse (20A)

    • @wearefamilee007
      @wearefamilee007  3 года назад

      Hi EroSennin, the hardwiring should not affect the auto idle stop function. Keep in mind that auto idle stop will not always engage depending on certain circumstances. For example: if the battery charge is too low, if the battery temperature is too cold, if it's too cold outside, if the engine coolant is too hot or too cold, if the auto idle auto stop button (the button with the "A" and "off" underneath) is turned on, etc.

      @@wearefamilee007 hey thanks for the reply
      I’ll drive around for a few more days to see if it will come back on
      But this just started happening right after I installed the dash cam
      Maybe it’s draining too much battery from the car so it’s not engaging in start stop anymore
      If it continues i’ll put the original fuses back and and unplug the dash cam then check to see if it’ll come back on

    • @hachiroku7443
      @hachiroku7443 Год назад

      It defintely draining the battery , the only purpose of these are when you park outside and wanted to record contonously for few hours but not continuously without unplugging it even inside your garage… I usually unplugged it after I parked inside garage everyday in my other cars and hpkeep it if I was outside. Parking for a few errands or hours staying outside parking lots.

    Hey I'm going to attempt this on my 2020 RDX and wanted to ask about the a-pillar removal. Did you disconnect the car battery by any chance? I heard some people do this as a precaution as the airbags are a sensitive area, kinda worried about that. The fuses are low profile minis I believe?

    • @wearefamilee007
      @wearefamilee007  4 года назад +2

      I did not disconnect the car battery. The installation wasn’t too bad. This was the first time I did it (did it for my wife’s car after) and was surprised at how fast I was able to complete it. Just remember to shift the a-pillar cover up towards the roof of the car once it’s loosened. I honestly think the hardest part was trying to unscrew the bolt to connect the ground wire (I have fat fingers). Good luck!

    does this have constant power

    • @wearefamilee007
      @wearefamilee007  4 года назад +1

      I specifically used the fuse so that it will power on only when the engine is turned on. Some of the newer cameras have a built in battery that will record when they either detect motion or movement if you’re looking for something like that.

  • @alanw.4511
    @alanw.4511 3 года назад

    Since you used the option slot you didn't need to double up on the fuses. This slot provides power and is not connected to any other accessories. So only 1 fuse for the camera is needed.
