Without watching any of the video, I hereby predict 1) Jon will at one or more points fail to notice that some critical resource is running low/out, thus causing himself unnecessary grief, 2) will take on a totally unnecessary risk, where the possible reward cannot under any circumstance be commensurate with the consequences of failure, 3) make a cat reference (probably a cheap shot, but screw it), 4) overreach horribly, and then respond with "It's OK, I have a plan"
I would have sworn that this was a overhaul mod for Banished if I didn't know it was a completely different game. The building and housing system especially. Now I want an apocalyptic overhaul mod for Banished.
I was thinking that. Many things, like the way place buildings and roads are identical. To the point I wouldnt be suprised to hear it's built on the same engine
I feel like I’d find this game more interesting if you were building within city ruins and whatnot, rather than in the middle of the forest. You could repurpose certain buildings or structures to suit your needs, like make a Diamond City or something, and scaving would be more interesting with all sorts of broken down hospitals, grocery stores, etc. As it stands, not sure this game would pull me away from Surviving Mars.
That's the first thing I looked at and went "wha?", too. Why are there random piles of planks and concrete strewn about in the forest? If the setting was a ruined cityscape, being able to scavenge construction materials from within walking distance would actually make sense.
Oh my GOD I've always wanted a nice post-apoc city builder! Hooray! I'm so looking forward to this! It's a shame that the kids do nothing but consume though. I liked how Frostpunk let you send the kids to work considering that you need all the help you can get.

This one looks an awful lot like Banished and Rimworld had a baby while huddled in the dark corner of some ersatz bunker. Very Banished-y looking worker mechanics and building-based settlement structure(also the "build cheap housing, get demographic crisis in 10 years because you inhibited family formation and all your old people are dead" mechanic seems to have gotten an actual tooltip..); but with Rimworld's enthusiasm for finite consumable resources supplemented by an overworld; and also the part where an explicitly insane and/or brutal AI storyteller tries to kill/reward you for its sadistic amusement(Hi Randy!). Neither of these comparisons is negative, mind you; but Surviving Mars wasn't the first similarity that came to mind; especially in the absence of the 'bots set up/meatsacks arrive' progression of Surviving Mars.

It made it to PC but I think most of the fans got into it when it was a flash game.
I have just started a new game of Rebuild 2. I am currently going in to cleanse a zombie infested block, with Yu a man of significant martial prowess using his own bare hands and Corporal French a platinum blonde with a massive sledgehammer. Wish me luck.
Have you ever considered playing Rimworld, Jon? You build a colony on a planet after your ship crashes. It has a resource system, manufacturing chains, mental states of your colonists, farming, raiding, diplomacy, real time strategy (with active pause,) a medical system, and more.
"Cut down that concrete, don't tread in the radiation!" It's a good think Jon's characters can't hear him or they'd start to question the sanity of their instructions!
