I Visit CHILHAM Village In Kent - Like TRAVELLING BACK IN TIME!

- Chilham is a beautiful hidden gem village in Kent, located closely to Canterbury and the Kent Downs, so this week something slightly different from my usual seaside exploration - I’m taking you on a 4K walking tour so you can see this historic and picturesque wonder for yourself and see why it’s one of the best places to visit this summer.
I start off at Badgers Hill Farm to get a coffee and meet the roaming animals, before exploring the medieval village square towering above the valley of the River Stour. Well known for its Jacobean architecture, I check out the amazing timber framed buildings, the landmark Chilham Castle, the ancient St Mary’s Church and of course have a pint and spot of lunch at the charming Woolpack Inn, one of Chilham’s two cosy pubs.
Surrounded with walking paths and country lanes, it’s a perfect place for walking routes or hiking to immerse yourself in the countryside and breathtaking views, with routes going to Canterbury and Wye.
There is something for all the family here and should be top of your list of places to go in Kent, and most importantly of all it’s dog friendly! So walk with me and see exactly why Chilham is a tourist destination that tourists don’t know about yet!

Great video Jack. The village has been the setting for Poirot's Christmas, another Poirot episode and a couple of Jane Austen TV films. Jane herself lived just down the road in Godmersham Manor for 11 years, it was owned by her brother. She often attended dances at Chilham Castle. The WW2 Powell & Pressburger film A Canterbury Tale was filmed in and around Chilham. It is indeed a great place to live. My ancestors settled here in 1630, we still have one gravestone in the churchyard to my direct ancestor's brother Thomas.
