Can't believe this game came out a whole 11 years before I was born, I'd played the reboot OpenTTD for so long as a kid and only now realized that this game's much older than 2004, the graphics are what make it for me, remind me of the old Rollercoaster Tycoon games
Once there are many vehicles in the game, it's better to change the vehicle breakdown frequency to 0. Otherwise, the game just won't play very well and all the fun is gone
@@chrissant6277 Yeah, I'd decided to have a monopoly right from day one by disabling any AI players to be able to build this. Any other non-human player would inevitably meddle with the road network
If I recall properly, Boston was on that map and it was quite developed. In fact, it played a very important role throughout the 20th century in supporting NYC to grow so drastically, albeit I may have missed it in the video. Sorry about that
Władca Wymiaru Yep, as young gamers we don't realize how our hands are going to become shit as we get older. Anyhow, you may have chronically inflamed wrists/hands. A test is to stretch out your arms and keep opening and closing fingers rapidly - if you feel pain immediately, you may have the problem. Luckily there are some remedies for that. Start off by applying ice packs a few times a day (hands, wrists and forearms). Also, apply pressure on the lower inside area of the wrist (the carpal tunnel) - the easiest way is just rest the side of your head on your wrist while lying sideways. Finally, once you're pain free, add regular exercises to strengthen the grip - pullups or squeezing toys.
Just a quick question. What graphics set is that. I love the large blue buildings but the base game doesnt come with those! Does anyone have a link or a tutorial to get those huge skyscrapers?
Sadly, I lost the save a long time ago. The buildings, however, come from the Total Town Replacement Set or TTRS. Just download this file via the download part on the game menu, then go to the NewGRF settings, locate the file on the list and move it all the way up to make sure it's got the highest priority as that should help avoid bugs.
I have some questions about this: 1. how did you manage to change the newgrf of a scenario? I can't manage to figure it out. 2. how did you manage do get both default and japanese buildings together?
1) Locate the opettd.cfg file and open it. Search for newgrf_developer_tools and change the setting to "true". Save the file, launch the desired scenario, edit your GRFs and whatnots and enjoy. Make sure all changes are made before playing the scenario as it *can* crash the game w/o warning. I remember it took me a while to tweak it around to get it look the way I liked it. 2) Not sure what you mean. Could you please tag the time in the video so that I can try to remember? I played this scenario a while ago and it's been since lost :/
@@Quyanxi www.reddit.com/user/uhhhscizo/comments/juuipr/example/ I might have worded it a little strangely, what I'm asking is how you got the default (circled) buildings alongside the japanese buildings. @@uhhhscizo6531 I see. This is all random, but I think you need to enable old buildings in the TTRS setting to get them built along with the modern ones.
They're not on the same level, actually. The road is elevated, built on a ridge. When you raise terrain, it always gets elevated between two tiles, so, I did this for the entire road network. I think it's more evident at 4:28 above the yellow rail bridges.
Hey, if you're playing OTTD, there's an arrow icon that you can use to set the directions. And then it's a bit about tweaking around to get the vehicles go the way you want. It's fun and I find it very satisfying when everything's set and works properly :)

It's the arctic climate that does that. You know how you can choose from the fun map, desert, moderate and arctic upon generating a map? So, that's it.
At 4:05 right at the centre, the grey skyscraper with a heliport on the roof. You'll see a MAGLEV tunnel right behind it. There's actually one more building like that at the centre at the very bottom of the screen, accented with a green livery of one of my competitors (whom I later acquired).
Are you making own scenario? Total Town Replacement set is good looking, but some NewGRF, especially building are not compatible. Your aircraft is very standard, please try World Airliens Set. For Vehicle, your choice is good, but you also try Hungarian Truck Set, Ikarus Set for making different. For train, please try 2cc trainset, Japan Trainset, Dutch Trainset, and North American trainset. For water vehicle, i reccomend new ship. For HQ, I reccomend CityHQ
No, mate. This was a downloaded US scenario which I tweaked around a bit to make it more fun to play for me. I was using a combination of the standard airlines as well as the World Airliners Set. Haven't tried the Hungarian set. I did use all the abovementioned train sets and Big Ships. Dunno about the HQ, but I like this one.
It's a matter of meddling with the game settings, really. You need to allow cities to grow massively otherwise they'll forever remain unremarkable towns. Start early on as they need time to grow and make sure you transport passengers and freight/goods to support that growth. Also, don't ever build where the town name is because that's the spawn centre. If built upon, the city will shrink completely. I've always enjoyed setting the game wildly to take it to an extreme because that means extreme fun :) Hope I've helped.
@Quyanxi Thank you very much, I didn't know about the names in the center. However, you tell me that it is a matter of configuration to allow cities to grow massively. What is that configuration? Would you tell me if it's not too much trouble?
On PC, open the OpenTTD folder (in Documents) and locate openttd.cfg. Back up the file, just in case something went wrong. Now open the file using notepad, find newgrf_developer_tools, and change its parameter to true first.
