Performance video of track "Point of View Redux" (same version as on record)
Video by: Yasunari Rowan
Eldar Djangirov (piano)
Armando Gola (bass)
Ludwig Afonso (drums)
featuring guest appearances by:
Chris Potter (sax)
Joe Locke (vibraphone)
This performance precisely matches the first track from the new upcoming album BREAKTHROUGH -- available on April 9, 2013. It's entitled "Point of View Redux." Personnel is Eldar Djangirov (yours truly) on piano, Armando Gola on bass, and Ludwig Afonso on drums. Recorded at Avatar Studios in New York City. I recorded this song originally in 2005 w/ Michael Brecker. After his unfortunate passing, I decided to re-record and revamp some of the motifs from that version and bring it into a new light. Thus, we have this redux. A bit of a tribute to him. What you are hearing is exactly the first complete track from the album BREAKTHROUGH. Check out and buy the record -- and if you don't like it, give it or pass the link to somebody you don't like : )... Hope you enjoy listening to the music as much as I enjoyed making the music, experiencing it, living it, breathing it, refining it, watching it, and giving it to you for enjoyment. I hope this uplifts your soul and makes your day better. I hope you feel inspired like you can overcome anything now -- that's the message in this music: to inspire, to motivate, and to bring joy to your day. Words cannot describe my gratitude and appreciation for the people who have given me support. I'm fulfilled to deliver you a musical experience that I'm proud of. Best from, Eldar.
It’s like he doesn’t even know how to go out of time. One of the most phenomenal technical players I’ve ever seen. Mastery of the instrument!
Yes he's pretty good but have you heard Richard Clayderman - he's awesome compared to this guy.
@@GregTyson You're funny

Eldar is such a serious player/composer, prodigious is un understatement, real music of the XXIst century, all three guys unassuming, dedicated to their art, performed with ease, flawlessly (like they're not really playing at the top of their game, they can go further still!) I love the comments here and people surprised how this hasn't got viral, sorry to say but this is not for everybody, thankfully, in fact, let's keep this to ourselves, people tend to ruin everything...This is inmaculate, beyond any analisis, we are in the presence of one of the best pianists ever to roam the earth, and the ones that say that he is nice and kind... well more to him... I hope I get to live at least another 20 or 25 years more so I can bask of Eldar the mature, the wise.
Saw him live. My wife and I met him and we talked. Just right before our faces were melted completely off. We were friggin gobsmacked. One of the greatest performances I ever witnessed myself, in this life. And, a true gentleman.
Joe Horizon really cool to hear of such a positive experience you had seeing him live and meeting him.
Joe Horizon I met him after a concert once (Ive seen him a couple of times and of course he blows the roof off). Just as nice and humble a guy as you would ever hope to meet.
Elie Canetti That’s refreshing. A lot of talented people are obnoxious egomaniacs.
How does a video like this not go viral??? Who wouldn't want to watch this over and over again???
Because unfortunately most people don't like jazz
I will not repeat the mistake of missing Eldar's next concert in the New York area. Just an amazing and infecting talent. Aside from the virtuosity, the intellect, the taste, and the technique, listening to him play just makes me extremely happy.
My favorite part of this chart is when Armando gets up @ 2:49 because he knows sh*t is about to go down in the solo section
Both the drummer and bass player are unbelievably gifted as well. Mind-blowing stuff!!
Pure genius ! This trio sounds like one musician. Tight and played flawlessly. Technically perfect.
This is INSANE. Everyone is performing unbelievably here. Wow.
Jonruss Yes. YES!!!
Wow! I'm not sure how old this very young man is but he is outstanding. The entire trio is GREAT! His music could make me a jazz lover, for sure.
Absolutlely briliant of all three of them
This is one of the most awe-inspiring performances I have ever seen. Unbelievable level of difficulty. The last two minutes of the song just take me to a higher plane. It’s blissful. I wish Eldar made a bunch more music like this.
Superb musicians
Gran interpretación 🎉 es muy gran pianista, muy buena la agrupación
Astonishing pianist
I keep coming back to this recording, cause it's so damn epic!
Yeah, I keep watching this over and over and I can’t turn it off. It’s amazing start to finish. I think this is the studio take. Hard to hear any mistakes. I love how he plays line right and left together during drum solo near end.
O-M-G!!! I can't believe I never heard this guy until somebody played his music on the radio today. Jaw dropping brilliant!
The overhand stuff is impossible but so is his speed and precision. Anybody need firewood? People are stacking up their spinets for a bonfire. And their basses too.
Just all together!!! Congrats!
I don't know if it gets better than this!!! Respect to the musicians who are keeping music on a high level and pushing it forward!!!
You are amazing,Eldar!
Was there ever a time where he wasn't this good?
Edit: That one kid who plays everything in semitones after decades of practicing be like 1:47
What a pianist. This is really fun to watch and a real treat to the ears.
such a joy to see a man who has found his passion...pursues it...and continues to push the boundaries of greatness...
Out of this world. Eldar must be from another planet. Thanks a lot for this feast.
Absolutely the sickest thing I’ve heard in a long time .. love it
Se queda uno sin palabras ante el nivel de precisión y maestría de estos prodigios absolutos de la música. Impresionante
I send my 6 week old son to sleep almost every day listening to this song :)
awesome he's probably gonna have perfect pitch in a few months hehe
What a fantastic start to life! I wish more parents would give their children such an advantage!
Awesome!! you're the best Piano player in the world, hats off to you mister Eldar!!
Gotta love odd metres, especially when they are played by such skillful musicians.
Eldar is in a league of his own! I am not rich but, in 2007 (when he was about 19) I bought a ticket from Puerto Rico to Miami to go and see him play in Arturos Sandoval's night club, with the added bonus of seeing Arturo play with him the last night. I watched 4 shows and it was worth every penny! Not doing that was for me like living in Mozart's time and not doing what you could to go and see him play. I'm so glad I had that wonderful experience.
He is unnecessarily great. Like why. What do you need to be that great for. Lol smh unbelievable. What are you going to do with all that greatness.
lol
You read my mind :D This comment scored a goal hahaha
When you're TOO great 😂
tryin to become as great as hiromi for example (improve touch)
but yeah, its great
Keep making more epic stuff apparently
Sheer genius! Eldar, you never hit a wrong key and the speed your brain works strikes me speechless! I find myself looking for every performance on the Internet as well as buying everything out there. I hope to continue supporting you on Patreon for years to come!
At the ripe old age of 25 or 26 . . . What chops and inventiveness . . . Long live Eldar.
I think if the world were more intelligent your group would be most popular. Been listening since Idaho 2004 Jazzfest. Thank you Eldar sir.
Just discovering..mind blown
Eldar is a genius. Period. End of story. SMH. Wow!
Mind blown again!? Heh, my first exposure to Eldar was in that "Gem" group. This is so beyond my expectations which were set pretty high initially :D Bravo, I guess I missed this years ago but very happy to catch it finally!
You are possibly the craziest (good) musician I've ever come across in my life. Keep jazz alive
I love how the engineer was clapping in the booth at the end hehe
But how is this possible... so much awesomeness. Teach me everything you know
Dude, that's kicking! Best new jazz I've heard in years,
Just Incredible, Im happy to say he and I played together in my home. Eldar is and will continue to be one of the greatest pianist alive, a true innovator and artist!

Pra mim é o melhor pianista da atualidade!!! wow this amazing!!!
Stunning ! A breathtaking performance.
Wow. I was listening to sky.fm on their piano jazz stream and I swore it was Oscar or Art but I didn't recognize it. I checked and ... Eldar?? Okay I think we've found the heir to the "world's greatest jazz pianist" title.
Great stuff.
eldar is up there with like rubalcaba technically. perfection :)!!
Nothing short of Fabulous!!! Thank you.
I would love the whole breakthrough album performed like this on bluray.

Who did you listen to when you were growing up?
this pianist is a killer ! I understand now why Chick Corea loves him. Really awesome ! Not fan of the bass player, but the drummer feels good to my hears too !
Six strings on a bass? I'm no musician, but, all the basses I've seen in life had four. Love the hand over hand piano. drums are all jazz! nice, nice, nice.
Unbelievable! So glad you captured this on video.
This is simply amazing! I do hope you are keeping well and I very much look fwd to seeing you play live again in Munich.
I'll buy two copies of this new CD if you'll put all of the track videos here on youtube (or somewhere). LOVE IT!
Wow!
What a talent and what technique!!!!!!!
This is so insane!!
Breakthrough? More like breathtaking. Thank you for the wonderful music.
1:07 "chromatic?" , 1:19 "circle of fifths?" 1:51 "2 hand overlapping cluster" , 2:30 "really cool" , 5:55
Increíblemente bueno, me encanta!
Si dices que no te gusta, mientes por vicio.
Absolutely awesome.
YO! THIS IS FACEMELTING!
Great Music,...and a great team.
Técnica Indiscutível e linguagem infalível! Mestre Eldar... Quero estudar

Muito bom, excelente, maravilha Eldar, Amando e Ludwig.
Keep playing like this man. Amazing stuff and well recorded - this is also very important today!
Enorme!
Et dire que je ne connaissais pas!!!
Awesome! Great music, very inspiring! Thank you, Eldar!
Love the idea at 1:18
I broke the replay button
This is outrageously good playing. I've got some of your other stuff Eldar, and whereas the older music was great, this is even better to my ears! I should warn you though, in case you didn't know -- the George Adams/Don Pullen Quartet put out an album back in the '80's called "Breakthrough," which also contained a lot of great jazz. There is one song on there in particular, "Mr. Smoothie" that I love. Sadly, George Adams, (tenor sax) died not all that long after the album came out, if memory serves. There's a weird kind of symmetry with your album and Mike Brecker's death -- I guess both jazzmen "broke through" to wherever great jazz musicians go when they die.(?)
Increíble, muy bueno.
Nice little section lifted from Yes at 1:19.
Not sure what the commenter was referring to - it's basically a circle-of-fifths progression that is not uncommon, but that Yes made explicit / overt use of a number of times; the example that comes to mind immediately is in the second section of the epic 'Awaken'
AMAZING! FORTUNATELY THERE IS A TALENT AND SPIRITUAL ENERGY EVERYWHERE AROUND THIS PLANET TO SAVE US!
thanks for posting the video, really enjoyed the GREAT music
Beasts. Truly insane. And amazing MUSIC.
My music told me to listen to this, im very thank full!
You just blew my mind! This is amazing.
There go the aliens again, trying to make us earthlings look bad.
More talent in that one room than at an entire Lollapalooza concert.
прекрасно!!!браво трио
Great playing!
Excellent ! WOW !
It's really amazing.
such a great track
