They can leave the SKD untouched, but the Kop now looks ridiculous in comparison to the new stands. Either go back and re route the Walton Breck Road or go up and create a steeper bank of seats similar to Dortmunds yellow wall!
Hi John, hope you're well, yeah this maybe a good idea and option, I actually done a video on The Kop recently ruclips.net/video/WQvqAvcZg8U/видео.htmlsi=B1aZrtzDSr64tKcd
Yes I agree they should increase the Kop's singe tier so it is more like Dortmund's yellow wall. If it means tunnelling over the road behind the Kop then do it. Then put a third tier on the Kenny Dalglish stand and make it identical looking to the main stand, including the same kind of roof truss as the main stand. Then when doing the Kop, put the same roof as what is on the Anfield Road stand; the Anfield Road stand and Kop roofs would be symmetrical and the main stand and Kenny Dalglish stand roofs would be symmetrical - it would make it look much better. Wouldn't need to move to a new stadium then and would be a stadium to be proud of.
Increasing the capacity of the Kop will require additional rows of seats, and each row will require the same depth, irrespective of the steepness of the slope of the stand. So inevitably expanding the Kop would require the WBR to be bridged or re-routed.
@@lowton_red9013yes, but the laws of geometry show that a steeper rake will allow more rows in the same area. Not a huge amount, but still likely to get a couple of thousand in
Once the dust settles on the Anny road expansion, this will start to become the next logical talking point. 61,000 simply isn't big enough for Liverpool, and all avenues must be explored to push it past 70,000. It's such a lost opportunity for the City and wider Liverpool economy to not partner with LFC to build a truly world class facility. To not push forward with this because of a train line and a couple roads is quite frankly absurd. The City needs a strong LFC that attracts business, tourism and innovation. We need an expanded SKD, Kop, hotel, sports research facilities, world class lesiure and entertainment facilities, and so on.
Hi Mate, hope you're well I agree with this to a certain extent, with Liverpool economy etc, tourism and things like that, but the couple of roads could well be the most difficult part of this, this would need to be treated delicately as at the end of the day these are peoples homes we are talking about...
@@thestadium00 I agree on the people’s homes front, but let’s be honest we should be in the compulsory purchase territory here considering the wider long term benefits for the city and economy. Pay them well for sure, but the club and city can’t stand still for the sake of a couple rows of terraced housing
I think FSG will look to do a stopgap refurb of the KD Stand next, with some capacity reduction and modern corp facilities. However, they will try and lessen the blow to fans by beginning Kop expansion plans. The club have already privately done prelim work re both stands. BUT it is something a long long way from fruition. Down to the transport AND surrounding predicaments. Ultmately lets face it, the ground does look rather silly being half done. Even if its a great improvement on 2 of the stands.
Anfield is nearing its full capacity now, maybe 64,000 tops. It’s to do with Health & Safety. The Anfield area simply doesn’t have the infrastructure to have a 75,000+ stadium. It’s all to do with getting people in & out of the stadium safely.
Imagine having one of those terrace houses and having Anfield as your neighbour. Praise to Liverpool developing the stadium to world class status. The toulouse players when they first saw Anfield , the smiles on their faces shows the high esteem they have for Anfield.
If Liverpool can sell out a 80k stadium that’s where they need to be heading. The club is what puts the city on the map and you have to let this juggernaut expand to its full potential. It can only be good for the City and English football. In Spain everyone bends over backwards for Real Madrid and does anything almost to facilitate their growth. Liverpool is one of those iconic clubs in world football that deserves to be at that same place as Real.
There Is a lot of factors in play. I think first, they'll wait, similar as to the main stand, to generate the money back for the development of the Anfield Rd expansion before contemplating any more expansions. There are areas of concern for expansions but upgrades are required and at the end of the day money talks. For me, Liverpool need to compete for today and tomorrow's footballing elite levels, meaning European level and that would mean to expand further. I feel 70 - 75k all seater, modernised stadium upgrade... SKD stand expansion Kopp stand expansion maybe, who knows maybe development over the road, similar to Villa Just my opinion
We have been very slow to develop ARE, if we had owners who weren’t bothered about getting the returns we could’ve done it not long after Main stand & saved ourselves £20 million! The debt is being put onto the club which Klopp & players magic is paying it off. In the grand scheme of things what FSG have done in terms of the extensions & training ground aren’t a big deal as people make them out to be! A new world class stadium in Stanley park would’ve cost £600 million + but was never part of FSG plans as it’s much cheaper to extend stands.
The lower part of this stand is the original Kemlyn Road Stand, the rows of seating was/is too close together ... you have to sit sideways. It would be better to re-build a new stand to give better room for comfortable seating.
Hi Dave, hope you're well, so they actually built on top of the Kemlyn Road stand, so the seats in the lower have not been modernised for some time then?
nothing is impossible, its very possible, but need lots of money planning and cooperation, first Liverpool has to monitor safety, traffic, logistics, transportation, environment etc when the Anfield road stand get completed and having 61k crowd per game, then Liverpool must start purchasing all the houses one by one for the next 2 blocks all the way to Arkless road, so we can extend Arkless lane all the way to Walton Breck road, so the KD stand can be expand and redeveloped properly with having a good space in front of it, and have 2 double lanes Arklees lane in front of it for better traffic and transportation projects that can take you all the way to Utting Ave and Ayrshire road where the rail line is, and where a train station can be built, where potential strain station can be built there, it will be costly and will take lot of time and effort, and will require the city counsel and government involvement and cooperation, but can be achieved, expanding KD stand and can be a part of redeveloping and regeneration of Anfield neighborhood and area.
Hi Mate, thanks for your comment and feedback, I said this in a previous video (the Kop one) and I stand by it I think FSG have a 10-15 year plan to expand this stadium bit by bit
I doubt that it will be possible to expand the existing structure of the SKD. The upper tier, at its steepest point, is already at the maximum permissible slope i.e. 34°. So adding additional rows of seats, either at the back of the existing second tier, or adding a third tier, would not be feasible as each additional row would have a progressively worse view of the playing area. The only realistic solution to increasing the stand’s capacity, is to demolish the existing structure and to build a completely new stand. While such an enterprise is entirely possible, the costs would likely render the project uneconomical with a payback period measured in decades, which would probably be unacceptable to FSG.
When I was little, the KD Stand towered over the rest of the ground. I was wondering what sort of view it would have when it was being built. Now the Kop and KD are towered over. Bottom line, if FSG get their hands in their pockets, 2 new stands +corners are doable. Will prob need transport upgrades too but so what. If Everton can spend 500m, LFC have only spend 220m and LFC wins Champions Lgs!
Hi mate, its a good point you make, in 1992 the Century Stand as it was then named was 'the daddy' stand of the stadium now it does just look a bit odd on the eye.
When they built the SKD stand they actually owned the houses that back on to the car park in Skerries road. Rather stupidly they sold those houses after years of trying to buy them and the ones that they demolished in the road that was where car park is. For years they owned all the houses except one. Two old ladies lived in it and refused to sell it to the club for years. As mentioned elsewhere. Club could buy dirilict land near ground offer to build current home owners in Skerries road new houses.
In the current situation I would say no turning people out of there homes is wrong I would love them to build it bigger but I don’t think it is viable sorry
@@scouser1969 it's not a case and can't ever be of turning people out of their houses. I imagine they'll have the right to say no. But they'll be offered more money than the houses would normally go for.
The development of the Anfleld Road stand is excellent & every fan is looking forward to its opening. But & it's a big but, facilities around the ground aren't the best, we were told about development, a hotel & other amenities, I park a mile & a half away from the stadium, queue up in the chippy on Walton Breck Road, the line is a hundred yards long. It's a great experience all the same, but if you're going to have a capacity like we have, 61,015, the club definitely needs to think about the surrounding area.
Hi mate yeah, there is a redevelopment plan happening , the hotel is a stones throw away from the ground on Oakfield Road, I’ll get a shot of it on my next AR update hopefully be up Monday
That saved me a lot of time typing, as 100% agree with @vishy comment below, that it should definitely be the aim and ambition to increase the capacity and improve facilities of both the Sir Kenny Dalgleish and Kop stands. And also improve the general area around the stadium where there is unused/vacant land. Liverpool FC are not owned or financially backed by an multi plus billionaire oligarch, Sheik, investment fund or state, so need to make the most of and maximize match day revenue, sponsorship and smart recruitment and player sales to compete. As they say "where there is a will there is a way"
We pray and hope that the kenny daglish stand would be expanded. The difference it would make to the stadium would be unreal. The Kenny daglish stand is the most uncomfortable stand in football I think with the cramped seats and no space concourse. Its like a dinosaur. Completely outdated and needs to be demolished. Your point is correct. A railway link would need to be done before any expansion is done. Then buy up the houses and do another world class stand like the main stand. Also renovating the Kenny daglish stand could add more seats than any renovation of the kop. Like the way the main stand holds 4500 more than the new annie road which will be 16000
FSG won’t demolish Skd stand as it loses revenue - the most they would do is build out from the back like they did with Main stand. We already have space behind Skd stand, understanding is that most houses behind are LFC owned
I have a feeling they will keep the lower stand but completely rebuild the upper tier because its not wide enough. It needs to be quite a bit wider to reach the kop and the anfield road end, like the main stand does. I cant see them completely demolish the whole stand as there would be a big reduction in capacity for a couple of seasons. I think they will keep the lower part like they did with phase 1 and 2
I think the design of the Mainstand & AnnieRoad tells us they won't be expanding past the 61k, or they could have designed to fill the corner and possibly at the Annieroad & SKD but they didn't so i'm guessing we will be 61K for the foreseeable..... I really wish they had started from the corner of the Kop & SKD and built from that corner towards the main and Annieroad, we would have had to relocate for a few seasons but that would have allowed for a much bigger stadia in the current location...
Hi Craig, yeah you make a very good point about the design, I’m guessing and this just is a guess that FSG wanted to keep the historic feel to the ground,
They said even before expanding the main stand they want to keep the stadium as 4 separate stands regardless of further expansion so wouldn't completely rule further expansion out because of the design not having filled corners mate. One thing I'd be optimistic about is they seem to take great pleasure doing these 2 stands and haven't ever ruled out future expansion so just never know. I doubt we will see any plans to anytime soon though, if they are going to it's only going to be after the Anfield Road expansion is either paid off or nearly paid off like they done between the phases of the main stand then Anfield road stand.
Relocating isn't ideal but there would have been options to explore, ground share with the Blue's or something even more extreme Wembley! far fetched but options available while the build went ahead, its not the case anyway, but im not sure if an expansion to the SKD or the Kop could ever happen with housing and road proximities... @@Steve-io5oh
buy derelict land across the road for car park and use the SKD current carpark to widen the building footprint and make the stand steeper, could be one tier steep or 2 tier steep, increase some coverage - the skd doesn't need the wide areas around it like the mains stand and Anfield road end shuldnt need to by houses then
I doubt if an expansion of the SKD stand into it's current car park would get planning permission. The occupants of Skerries Road are obviously entitled to a reasonable amount of daylight by law.
The railway comes right past Everton new ground so would suit the two set of supporters..the old pub The Clarence has plenty of space to develop a new station
I would like to think Liverpool FC and FSG carried out extensive and thorough research into the stadium’s future before the two new stands were built. If the ground as it is now represents the zenith of its potential then remaining there is a huge mistake. That the decision was taken to stay at Anfield and redevelop suggests to me that an agreement in principle at least has been agreed by all interested parties that further expansion is possible and will eventually be realised.
The expension of SKD Stand can be done if the housing owner agreed to be relocated. The Club owner and the resident involve should come out with a win win solution for example giving Liverpool shares and new residential fot them within that area.
Could you do a video over the empty plots of land around the ground... some shops were supposed to have been built opposite the Kop opening in July 2024 but work not started but was supposed to start in Sept gone. The hotel has gone nowhere and at least 2 companies were appointed in Jan 2023 to find a buyer, has anything happened with that. Would like to see the club buying all this land to protect their interests be that future expansion or just to improve the general area around the ground.... what do you thin and what can you find out? Cheers, love the videos and your insights.
Hi mate, yeah I’ll cover this for you in my Sunday Anfield update , if it the hotel I think your talking about on oak field road, it was left for a long long time but recently work has started on it again
The ground looks odd now. The Kop looks tiny and not very intimidating anymore. The Sir Kenny stand is badly in need of a refurb. I really can't see us getting to more than about 65,000 max. Expanding the Kop will be difficult with Breck Road being behind it. If the Kenny stand did get expanded but the Kop didn't the Kop would just look sad and even smaller. Some of the corners could be made into seating but that wouldn't make a huge difference.
It should be expanded .just look at the waitin list ya got about 70'000 plus fans waitin literal decades to get tickets . Liverpool should buy out the houses on skerries road. Knock down the houses . Then make the skd stand a three tier stand
I think this would be the most viable option, other people have said they would need to demolish 2-3 streets I personally don’t think that would be the case like
@@robertmclellan3658 it is their home, but they could get a pretty good deal with the club if Liverpool fc want to buy these houses in order to expand. If Liverpool offer them serious money, why not ?
@@robertmclellan3658The majority if not all are waiting for a big pay off. Weep weep. Get way more than the houses are worth. And then they could upgrade. Apparently you never see any of those houses up for sale in the the first 3 rows close to the Kenny daglish stand. The houses are old council houses. Not much of a loss😂😂😂. The tourists bring a fortune of money into liverpool.
I've seen people talk about this but never actually seen it till yesterday, Aston Villa have one of there stands build over the road, maybe this could be the way to expand The Kop?
I think if they were to expand , then 2-3 streets would be a good thing so that there is abit of room behind the stand just like there is behind the main stand. That way there is room for people to walk around before and after the match
Hi Mate, hope you're well, yeah I get what you're saying for maybe a little fanzone or something, but these are peoples homes we are talking about and I think that must be dealt with very delicately by the club
As a youth I went on to 10-15 home games a season , I paid with my pocket money. I am sure that many of the people in the stadium did the same in 60's, 70s and 80s. With the current difficulty in getting tickets will there be generation to fill the gap when my generation passes on.
HI David, hope you're well, not sure of the exact number on the season ticket waiting list, but I'm lead to believe there is some 60,000 waiting for season tickets, how old these people are reamains to be seen,
From an aesthetic standpoint, I would rather the Kop be expanded first before the SKD Stand....The Kop is the shortest stand at Anfield so to build it higher and steeper will create a better atmosphere and create more of a "bowl" shape.....
@@thestadium00 Yeah it would great if they could but so many issues to deal with first. Like you said, they need a train station within a mile of the stadium if they were to increase capacity beyond 65k, then there is the matter of Walton-Breck Road and how to build over it while also potentially impeding on the church and pub across the road....
I was at Sir KD stand watching the Reds vs Fulham Definitely needs to be expanded as seats are not comfortable, councourses are tight and the whole experience is ideal comparing to Main Stand especially ticket prices are same
I think this is viable if they buy enough houses and the council agree with put a train station in. But id think it would be 4 years before we even see reports of this
Hi Gary, yeah mate maybe your right it would be a long process, but this and I keep saying it and again just to clarify this is just my opinion I think there’s a 10 -15 year plan in place for this
SKD stand could be modernised to match Anfield roads new stand. It can be slightly increased in capacity too and wouldn’t affect the street behind it. If they wanted to replicate the main stand they will need to purchase the houses. Whether it’s increased capacity or remodelled it will happen, cause no way will Liverpool stick with the 2 old fashioned looking stands.
Hi Gareth , hope you’re well mate, yeah I said this is the Kop stand video, and I still stand by it now they have a 10-15 year plan for this stadium and are executing it bit by bit
It's not for for purpose. I was there for the Leicester game last year and got a seat at the back of the upper tier and if i stood up, i couldn't see half of the pitch plus the seats are too small, like the Kop
@@thestadium00 they are far too small, like the Kop. When I go, often it's with my son who's over 6ft and well made and sometimes with my son in law who's 6:4 and even bigger so you can imagine the seating problems we have in those stands. I struggle tbh and I'm not 6ft yet my knees touch the back seat in front
If they cant extend it then just new roofs on to go with new stands cos at min it looks stupid and the corners should av seats missing out on a lot of options im sure it will get sorted
The 2 new stand are great but now make the other 2 stands look ridiculous, it was a massive mistake not to build a new ground in Stanley park which come back to haunt the club because they won’t be able to expand any more which will then reduce it revenue long term effectively transfer funds!
The gradient of the lower tier of the SKD stand means a new main stand AR style upper tier cannot be added, instead the entire stand would need to be rebuilt
I think that anfield won't reach 70k seats because is extremely complicated to expand it. Firstly, the skerries road council is very strong and they won't sell their houses to FSG to make a big expansion like Main stand. Second, the City council has always bien against lfc giving many permissions to built pretty clase the stadium. The most factible thing is expand SKD to 12500 seats buying totally ofrece the obsesión at the back of the stand find the way to expand the kop.
The city council should realize that the club (along with the Beatles) are what make the city famous. If, in the future, the want to win in Europe, they need a capacity of over 70 000.
@@Inglese001 yes, but remember that lfc is not the only team on the city. Not everyone will be agree with that. The Beatles is a music band and not make divisions like on the city that one person is red and one person is blue. I don't think that blue fans are more than red ones but by this reason will be pretty difficult.
@@Inglese001agreed with you. As a Malaysian myself, we recognised Liverpool because of Liverpool FC and beatles. Liverpool council should take advantage of that. If those house owner behind the SKD unable to sell their home, I'm still hoping Liverpool FC will build a new modern stadium at or near the Liverpool City like what everton is doing. While city area already have all necessity, Liverpool FC have opportunity to build bigger stadium. Liv fan from Malaysia.
I think the club will become addicted to the positivity and money the two expansions have brought in and go for phase three and four at some point. You'd even be tempted to demolish SKD and the Kop and build a brand new superstructure around the current footprint, which would require purchasing and demolition of entire near-side terrace on Skerries Rd and a tunnel for WBR behind the Kop. That way you could build a much larger Kop, a SKD stand that's near enough Main capacity, and crucially you could have corners either end of the SKD. Probably could add something in the realm of 10-15k extra seats that way, bringing the ground to 70+. Would the club be happy with that capacity for the next 50 years? If they could get it up to 75k, I think they would. Would cost something in the region of £250-300m, but given what new stadiums are costing e.g. £1b+ in London, and the fact they could completely modernise the hospitality facilities too (maybe not in the Kop which should just be for STH and GA fans) they would see an ROI.
Just under 9000 seats to make it the same size as main stand. They will pay the loan for main stand and Anfield road first, then pursue the redevelopment, purchasing further houses in the process. It maybe the next street will have to be flattened also. This would make the stadium 70k with just the Kop to redevelop. Again another long term project but the A road could be moved, knock down the shops and develop the Kop like anfield road. The main issue is the church. This would take capacity to around 77k. It’s going to cost a huge amount, but it’s worth it for the next generation of fans to enjoy the one and only Anfield. It is going to be long process but believe it will happen.🤛
The Sir Kenny holds what 11k there or there abouts, the main is around 20k, I think its easily achievable an additional 9k if you mirror the main stand but of course the big issues the streets of homes behind it, a lot of people to convince to upsticks and move somewhere else. We can only but hope though mate 🤞🏻
@@thestadium00 oh 100% mate totally agree and we must not forget to be respectful it's people's homes at the end of the day. Just an idea I think it would be a great idea to offer them to be moved to somewhere obviously suitable and acceptable to them but move to temporary accommodation or homes whilst their new ones are being built using what can be reused from their original homes be a bit like keeping their history and memories of them alive.
It needs to match the Main Stand. Lets be honest, those houses could be bought out for double their market value and they could all upgrade their postcode thanks to LFC. None of them are suitable for modern living as none of them have off street parking. You couldnt build them like this now.
@@thestadium00 Yea but the balance of sentimentality v the good of the area (Liverpool FC is a great employer and tourist attraction) doesn't really come close. If you go down that road behind the stand, they over compensate with how they keep their houses. They are showing how much they care about their home.....yet the stree behind that is totally average...some tidy ones, some messy ones and some a right mess. That itself speaks volumes to me.
Alternatively you could refer to the clubs last Q&A on the subject of future expansion earlier this year which I think was hosted by Andy Hughes and addresses all of those points.
@@thestadium00 My point is the club have already outlined their plans for the SKD stand, the only thing they've not confirmed is a projected date for it.

Once the next caretaker of this mighty institution is in place after FSG make as much profit possible before moving on, then money will be enough to buy any houses, people can't refuse stupid money. Hopefully I'm still around to see it holding 70k plus 1 day
The bigger the stadium the bigger revenue which means you can attract better players we need a complete new stadium around 100,000 would fill it easy look atvthe waiting list
Hi Peter, hope you're well, maybe you're completely right and I am talking utter rubbish, but I do stand by what I say and believe there is a 10-15 year plan in place for Anfield
@@thestadium00 That’s still a long time. ARE was delayed on by some time. How long did it take Utd to do up OT? They did it when they had success on the pitch. I’m hoping club has plans already drawn up for Skd stand ready to submit once ARE is done. It takes time to buy the properties, get planning permission
For this to be expanded there is no getting around the homes behind it can't be there, nobody living there is going to agree to having the stand encroaching there homes anymore than it already is. The only way it will be expanded or can is those living there to be given a seriously good offer to sell up which 100% should and only be the way its done. I am pretty certain when they submitted the planning permission for the Anfield road end part of it was demonstrating with current measures in place and things like controlling crowds coming earlier and staying there after games to slow the flow of people arriving and leaving at the same times, they showed with current and new measures they proposed could allow for something in the region of 70k capacity. If you then added the railway on top of that capacity wise the expansion is more than possible and viable, there wouldn't be expansion to this stand unless its significantly increased. It is 100% possible to expand the stand but its going to take a massive effort from the club, the city council and people living there to overcome a lot of hurdles to make it happen. Until you here the people living in the homes directly behind the stand mentioning an approach its not even near the planning permissions stage and wouldn't get too excited of any plans from the club to even be thinking about it.
Hi Scott thanks for your comments, I agree it is possible, however I also agree it’s no going to be a walk in the park just getting to planning permission stage. 👌
@@thestadium00 yes exactly far from easy especially on the Sir Kenny Stand, The Kop also obviously has its issues with expanding it but I would probably say if either is to be done next it's going to be the Kop. How they will do it, not got a clue however I'm pretty sure there is smart enough architects and engineers out there that could find a way. Other reason I think the Kop would be next is it wouldn't increase capacity to what the Sir Kenny would be a lot easier to get planning permission. Just Hope they aren't just planning on leaving as it is the 2 new stands look great then you look at the stadium ad a whole now it looks completely stupid.

They can't go out on the KD stand or the Kop. Could they not go up. Turn kop into a, dare I say it, a two tear stand like the Annie? Same with the KD stand.
90% of the 3 rows behind the SKD stand are rented out, and LFC owns a number of the properties anyway. 11,000 seats could be expanded to 20,000. This will allow for an additional 40m - 50m a year match day income if you split the additional 9,000 capacity 50% hospitality (the lowest price) and 50% lowest price (non-hospitality). So if it costs 100-120m, it would go well. A train stop is doable, as you said in your video. Liverpool could get planning permission to expand and put a self-restriction (to give them time) and agree that though they will get planning (minus transport), they will not open the additional capacity until they satisfy that requirement. They then apply further to meet the transportation needs to use the additional capacity. Then they could get going, as 90% of the 33 houses in the 3 rows behind SKD stand, including Skerries Road, are rented out. I don't know how many LFCs own.
It’s impossible to get tickets to any games unless you pay ridiculous amounts of money for hospitality so increasing the capacity anymore would be great for the supporters but you’re talking major infrastructure work so I’m convinced it won’t be happening
@@thestadium00 there’s long been a standing argument to fill the corners in and that’s always been LFCs response, £3-4m for 300 or so seats will take an eternity to make it worthy
@@dannjp75 there’s so many ways you can look at this, ie; looks better, possibly gives an even better atmosphere in the ground but at the end of the day LFC is a business with FSG the main shareholders and to them it will always boil down to money I guess 🤷🏻♂️
Im no expert but certainly any change to the road for perhaps a development of the Kop would take years and monumental faffing with the local council before even breaking ground. If the SKD stand is developed then its highly likely they will repeat the process of building around it first like the main stand and the newly completed Anfield Road stand. They need the continued capacity to pay for it. I'd punt that any further development of Anfield is a minimum of 5 years away, if not longer.
it is understood FSG will look to improve the Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand, which has a current capacity of 12,000. And if they do - and no final decision has been made - then reconfiguring the areas in the lower tier to give fans more room, would actually see capacity drop. “The owners are unlikely to completely rebuild the stand as they have done with the Anfield Road End or Main Stand, due to the close proximity of nearby housing.”
@@thestadium00 That's exactly what Andy Hughes said in the Q&A with the local press that I referred you to, you can probably still find the full Q&A on the clubs website.
Only way the club can persuede a few of the street home owners to move is to either offer absurd money for their house, or the club would have to buy derelict land close to the ground and build newer better houses for them to move into. There is a load of waste land around the ground that is an absolute eye sore from wnen the old streets were demolished. Building new homes on that land could help as they would still be local to Anfield if thats why they refuse to sell. Of course they are entitled to choose not to sell their home if they wish as it may be sentimental to their family. Hopefully it can be sorted and the club can keep making progress with the stadium
Hi mate, hope you're well, yeah I agree completely no one would like to be forced out of their home, that's not what I'm suggesting here I was just making the point that if LFC did expand SKD that nearby road would potentially make things challenging
@@thestadium00 Don't worry mate I know you aren't suggesting to force anyone out their homes. I just said that because in the past people who live on that road have refused to sell or move and it would take a big offer for them to do so. Would be interesting to see drone footage comparing the size of the main stands footprint, and then seeing how much room would be needed on the SKD stand side to replicate the main stand. Thanks for the video mate.
Hi carl, think FSG would look at the costs of expanding by 3k and decide it wouldnt be worth the work and hassle for a small increase in capacity, thats just a personal opinion though
The corporate in the Main Stand is a lot more expensive than the corporate in the Kenny Daglish stand. The club make more money off the Main Stand corporate coz its way better.
Hi Peter, I’ve never been to the hospitality suites except on the stadium tour so can’t comment on the quality, but I imagine the Main stand would be expected to be the pick of the crop
I think Liverpool should build a new stadium. They should build it near Anfield if possible. The stadium should have at least an 80,000 capacity. I hope if they build a new stadium it will not look like all other new stadiums. I would give it an organic look with all four stands having different architectural features while being equal in height. The seating should be as near as possible to the playing field and the playing field should be the size of current Anfield.
@thestadium00 Just don't think the money or political will is there - look at the cost of the Headbolt Lane Station on an existing Merseyrail track - I just don't see that as a new route being opened up - a link to the airport is more of a priority imo.
Hi Mate, I believe you can never say never, specially from a business point of view. If theres a way to do these things these massive companies will always find a way, thats a harsh reality of life unfortunately
I would have to agree, its already been all planned out, I really believe it has
Yes I agree they should increase the Kop's singe tier so it is more like Dortmund's yellow wall.
Nailed it
Anfield is nearing its full capacity now, maybe 64,000 tops.
Hi Mate, yeah it is one of the world iconic stadiums
If Liverpool can sell out a 80k stadium that’s where they need to be heading. The club is what puts the city on the map and you have to let this juggernaut expand to its full potential. It can only be good for the City and English football. In Spain everyone bends over backwards for Real Madrid and does anything almost to facilitate their growth. Liverpool is one of those iconic clubs in world football that deserves to be at that same place as Real.
Hi Mate, hope you’re well, I think they could easily sell out that size stadium as you say 👍
SKD stand expansion
Kopp stand expansion maybe, who knows maybe development over the road, similar to Villa
Just my opinion
Hi Mate, yeah that sounds like a valid point to me , thanks for your feedback
@@thestadium00 Yes the only thing that changed was the colour of the seats ... they used to be white
nothing is impossible, its very possible, but need lots of money planning and cooperation, first Liverpool has to monitor safety, traffic, logistics, transportation, environment etc when the Anfield road stand get completed and having 61k crowd per game, then Liverpool must start purchasing all the houses one by one for the next 2 blocks all the way to Arkless road, so we can extend Arkless lane all the way to Walton Breck road, so the KD stand can be expand and redeveloped properly with having a good space in front of it, and have 2 double lanes Arklees lane in front of it for better traffic and transportation projects that can take you all the way to Utting Ave and Ayrshire road where the rail line is, and where a train station can be built, where potential strain station can be built there, it will be costly and will take lot of time and effort, and will require the city counsel and government involvement and cooperation, but can be achieved, expanding KD stand and can be a part of redeveloping and regeneration of Anfield neighborhood and area.
Anfield road end will be ready for utd 17th Sunday anfield 430pm reds YNWA
@@cliffordhealy801 yeah mate, the stand will be upper tier on a partial opening, there are test events happening 10/11 December 👍
Thanks Paul, remember the story about the pensioner that wouldn’t move years ago

As they say "where there is a will there is a way"
Yeah Chris you’re completely right, the whole area is going under a regeneration atm
Like the way the main stand holds 4500 more than the new annie road which will be 16000
Hi Peter, thanks for your comments mate very insightful 👌
FSG won’t demolish Skd stand as it loses revenue - the most they would do is build out from the back like they did with Main stand.
We already have space behind Skd stand, understanding is that most houses behind are LFC owned
@sukhjotesingh9613 could they remove some rows of seats to make more room, rather than starting again?
@@jasonmote9529 they could do but would lose capacity.
Also be nice if it was symmetrical to main stand.
Hi Craig, yeah you make a very good point about the design, I’m guessing and this just is a guess that FSG wanted to keep the historic feel to the ground,
Relocate to where exactly?
They said even before expanding the main stand they want to keep the stadium as 4 separate stands regardless of further expansion so wouldn't completely rule further expansion out because of the design not having filled corners mate.
One thing I'd be optimistic about is they seem to take great pleasure doing these 2 stands and haven't ever ruled out future expansion so just never know. I doubt we will see any plans to anytime soon though, if they are going to it's only going to be after the Anfield Road expansion is either paid off or nearly paid off like they done between the phases of the main stand then Anfield road stand.
@@Steve-io5oh Tranmere rovers
Relocating isn't ideal but there would have been options to explore, ground share with the Blue's or something even more extreme Wembley! far fetched but options available while the build went ahead, its not the case anyway, but im not sure if an expansion to the SKD or the Kop could ever happen with housing and road proximities...
@@Steve-io5oh
buy derelict land across the road for car park and use the SKD current carpark to widen the building footprint and make the stand steeper, could be one tier steep or 2 tier steep, increase some coverage - the skd doesn't need the wide areas around it like the mains stand and Anfield road end shuldnt need to by houses then
Hi Richard, hope you’re well. That could be one option and if it’s not effecting peoples houses could well be the best way to go
I doubt if an expansion of the SKD stand into it's current car park would get planning permission. The occupants of Skerries Road are obviously entitled to a reasonable amount of daylight by law.
They should be looking at a 100k stadium not been able to get tickets for over a decade now gutting
Hi Shaun, hope you’re well, yeah mate I have lots and lots of LFC fans as friends all have the same issue mate
Hi Craig , yeah I completely agree there is a plan in place somewhere
The expension of SKD Stand can be done if the housing owner agreed to be relocated. The Club owner and the resident involve should come out with a win win solution for example giving Liverpool shares and new residential fot them within that area.
Hi mate, this is a great idea 👌
I think this could be possible with expansions needed 🤔 I think it certainly looking into for expanding Liverpool football club 😀!
Yeah I think it will be on the cards at some point
Liverpool extend capacity they'll fill it. It's one of the world's iconic stadiums, along with San Siro and Bernabau.
Hahaha I’ve just answered your other comment saying this 😂😂
It should be expanded .just look at the waitin list ya got about 70'000 plus fans waitin literal decades to get tickets . Liverpool should buy out the houses on skerries road. Knock down the houses . Then make the skd stand a three tier stand

Honestly it can be expanded which is important if there are financial resources
I think it is important, specially if local fans from Liverpool can't get regular tickets this way more fans can be accommodated
I think if they were to expand , then 2-3 streets would be a good thing so that there is abit of room behind the stand just like there is behind the main stand. That way there is room for people to walk around before and after the match

Got to be the Kop next. Its looking out of proportion now
Hi mate, yeah I done a Kop video previous some mixed feedback on how and what way it could be done
Hi mate, Love the username btw lol, someone just commented before saying exactly the same that the seats are too close together
Hi David, yeah mate they need to just make it look even don’t they?
Anfield is a massive tourist pull for the city and LCC should be taking that into consideration for any sort of planning permissions I think anyway
@@Inglese001agreed with you. As a Malaysian myself, we recognised Liverpool because of Liverpool FC and beatles. Liverpool council should take advantage of that.
Maybe this is a viable option mate, first thing they need to look at tho is the transport link
Yeah mate as you say looking long term, and the size of the season ticket waiting list they will have no issues filling it
The Sir Kenny holds what 11k there or there abouts, the main is around 20k, I think its easily achievable an additional 9k if you mirror the main stand but of course the big issues the streets of homes behind it, a lot of people to convince to upsticks and move somewhere else. We can only but hope though mate 🤞🏻

It needs to match the Main Stand. Lets be honest, those houses could be bought out for double their market value and they could all upgrade their postcode thanks to LFC. None of them are suitable for modern living as none of them have off street parking.

Hi Peter, hope you're well, maybe you're completely right and I am talking utter rubbish, but I do stand by what I say and believe there is a 10-15 year plan in place for Anfield
@@thestadium00 I know nothing about. If so that's great to hear. Hopefully they don't stop after the annie road stand
Mate I’ve heard it’s a Refurbished next season, taking out 3 rows , and fitting out concourse, was on This is Anfield
Hi Phil, hope you're well, oh yeah?? will take a look at that mate thanks
❤❤❤❤❤
👌👌
Should be expanded too. Another 10,000 hopefully
I do believe FSG have a 10-15 year plan for The Stadium and its only a matter of time until they unveil which stand is next to be expanded
LFC will either eventually expand Anfield or move to another location. Losing LFC will be a bigger loss to the area than losing Skerries Road.
Hi Paul, you do make a good point if you look at things from that perspective
Agreed with you. Liv fan from Malaysia.
were would a platform go
Are you familiar with the area mate? There used to be an old pub it’s now a message wasteland that could accommodate the Platform and station etc
They can't go out on the KD stand or the Kop. Could they not go up. Turn kop into a, dare I say it, a two tear stand like the Annie? Same with the KD stand.
Kop second tier would take it to 70k
Why do they not buy the houses and expend?🤔
Not sure if they will see this as a worthwhile option mate, if they can’t add another hospitality section it wouldn’t be financially viable for them
When the anfield road stand was being built they should have joined it with other new stand. A corner completely wasted now
Hi mate, yeah I've seen a few people say this, could be be an opportunity missed
in my opinion it was an mistake to not build a whole new stadium in stanley park
indeed can't really argue with that
I think the Kenny Daglish stand should be extended
I think it’s on the drawing board or will be in the near future
As a structure it looks a bit of a mess and the area itself is not good should have moved when had the chance to Stanley park
Will they upgrade eventually?
I believe so yeah
Christ our old road Skerries great
iconic road in Anfield
@@thestadium00 It sure is 👍👍
I think Liverpool FC are regretting the decision not to build a brand new stadium. They could easily fill a 70.000 capacity arena.
Hi Mark, yeah I think you’re possibly right there mate
It’s impossible to get tickets to any games unless you pay ridiculous amounts of money for hospitality so increasing the capacity anymore would be great for the supporters but you’re talking major infrastructure work so I’m convinced it won’t be happening
Yeah, normal matchday tickets are very hard to come by,
No, the amount of money that’ll have to be spent versus the amounts of extra seats wouldn’t make it a viable process.
Hi mate, thanks for your feedback, just interested in getting fans views on this. Thanks
@@thestadium00 would be great to have an 80000 seat Anfield but it’ll never happen, realistically.
Look at the main stand at Ibrox park they added a top deck to increase capacity.
Hi mate, yeah goes to show anything is possible
it is understood FSG will look to improve the Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand, which has a current capacity of 12,000.
Thanks mate
@@thestadium00 That's exactly what Andy Hughes said in the Q&A with the local press that I referred you to, you can probably still find the full Q&A on the clubs website.
I’ve seen this in This is Anfield pod
75000 would be perfect
One step at a time lol
They sold houses for £1 each. They don't own any of the houses there now.
They’ve sold them all now?
@@thestadium00 They sold all of them after the Centenary stand was built. Short sighted decision .
As a Liverpool fan I want this expansion to happen too and hopefully it can get done with everyone happy, club and residents.
Would be interesting to see drone footage comparing the size of the main stands footprint, and then seeing how much room would be needed on the SKD stand side to replicate the main stand.
Thanks for the video mate.
Just build a new stadium 100,000 capacity the history will still be there regardless where we play
Just make it 3k added on then be below 65 k
Hi carl, think FSG would look at the costs of expanding by 3k and decide it wouldnt be worth the work and hassle for a small increase in capacity, thats just a personal opinion though
@@thestadium00 yeah probably right
The corporate in the Main Stand is a lot more expensive than the corporate in the Kenny Daglish stand.
Unfortunately not a chance of a passenger service being restored to this route in our lifetime IMO.
Hi Jay, hope your well mate, do you not think that’s possible or just lots of logistics involved
@thestadium00 Just don't think the money or political will is there - look at the cost of the Headbolt Lane Station on an existing Merseyrail track - I just don't see that as a new route being opened up - a link to the airport is more of a priority imo.
Its not possible
Ok, but why?
Never gonna happen imo
Hi Mate, I believe you can never say never, specially from a business point of view. If theres a way to do these things these massive companies will always find a way, thats a harsh reality of life unfortunately
Be great if they could, be even more room for crying and whinging 😂😂😂

No other stadium has Liverpool fans in it though!
Better than those toilet bowl stadiums. Have you seen the new bernabea and nou camp stadiums? They look terrible and soulless
Admittedly it still requires some re-configuration but if the Kop End were to be expanded - it would be a fantastic stadium.
