    They can leave the SKD untouched, but the Kop now looks ridiculous in comparison to the new stands. Either go back and re route the Walton Breck Road or go up and create a steeper bank of seats similar to Dortmunds yellow wall!

      @adambrian.. Год назад +2

      Yes I agree they should increase the Kop's singe tier so it is more like Dortmund's yellow wall. If it means tunnelling over the road behind the Kop then do it. Then put a third tier on the Kenny Dalglish stand and make it identical looking to the main stand, including the same kind of roof truss as the main stand. Then when doing the Kop, put the same roof as what is on the Anfield Road stand; the Anfield Road stand and Kop roofs would be symmetrical and the main stand and Kenny Dalglish stand roofs would be symmetrical - it would make it look much better. Wouldn't need to move to a new stadium then and would be a stadium to be proud of.

      Increasing the capacity of the Kop will require additional rows of seats, and each row will require the same depth, irrespective of the steepness of the slope of the stand.
      So inevitably expanding the Kop would require the WBR to be bridged or re-routed.

    Once the dust settles on the Anny road expansion, this will start to become the next logical talking point. 61,000 simply isn't big enough for Liverpool, and all avenues must be explored to push it past 70,000. It's such a lost opportunity for the City and wider Liverpool economy to not partner with LFC to build a truly world class facility. To not push forward with this because of a train line and a couple roads is quite frankly absurd. The City needs a strong LFC that attracts business, tourism and innovation. We need an expanded SKD, Kop, hotel, sports research facilities, world class lesiure and entertainment facilities, and so on.

      Hi Mate, hope you're well I agree with this to a certain extent, with Liverpool economy etc, tourism and things like that, but the couple of roads could well be the most difficult part of this, this would need to be treated delicately as at the end of the day these are peoples homes we are talking about...

      I think FSG will look to do a stopgap refurb of the KD Stand next, with some capacity reduction and modern corp facilities. However, they will try and lessen the blow to fans by beginning Kop expansion plans. The club have already privately done prelim work re both stands. BUT it is something a long long way from fruition. Down to the transport AND surrounding predicaments. Ultmately lets face it, the ground does look rather silly being half done. Even if its a great improvement on 2 of the stands.

It can only be good for the City and English football. In Spain everyone bends over backwards for Real Madrid and does anything almost to facilitate their growth. There Is a lot of factors in play. I think first, they'll wait, similar as to the main stand, to generate the money back for the development of the Anfield Rd expansion before contemplating any more expansions. There are areas of concern for expansions but upgrades are required and at the end of the day money talks.
    For me, Liverpool need to compete for today and tomorrow's footballing elite levels, meaning European level and that would mean to expand further. I feel 70 - 75k all seater, modernised stadium upgrade...

    Kopp stand expansion maybe, who knows maybe development over the road, similar to Villa

      We have been very slow to develop ARE, if we had owners who weren’t bothered about getting the returns we could’ve done it not long after Main stand & saved ourselves £20 million!
      The debt is being put onto the club which Klopp & players magic is paying it off.
      In the grand scheme of things what FSG have done in terms of the extensions & training ground aren’t a big deal as people make them out to be!
      A new world class stadium in Stanley park would’ve cost £600 million + but was never part of FSG plans as it’s much cheaper to extend stands.

    nothing is impossible, its very possible, but need lots of money planning and cooperation, first Liverpool has to monitor safety, traffic, logistics, transportation, environment etc when the Anfield road stand get completed and having 61k crowd per game, then Liverpool must start purchasing all the houses one by one for the next 2 blocks all the way to Arkless road, so we can extend Arkless lane all the way to Walton Breck road, so the KD stand can be expand and redeveloped properly with having a good space in front of it, and have 2 double lanes Arklees lane in front of it for better traffic and transportation projects that can take you all the way to Utting Ave and Ayrshire road where the rail line is, and where a train station can be built, where potential strain station can be built there, it will be costly and will take lot of time and effort, and will require the city counsel and government involvement and cooperation, but can be achieved, expanding KD stand and can be a part of redeveloping and regeneration of Anfield neighborhood and area.

  • @lowton_red9013
    @lowton_red9013 Год назад +4

    I doubt that it will be possible to expand the existing structure of the SKD.
    The upper tier, at its steepest point, is already at the maximum permissible slope i.e. 34°. So adding additional rows of seats, either at the back of the existing second tier, or adding a third tier, would not be feasible as each additional row would have a progressively worse view of the playing area.
    The only realistic solution to increasing the stand’s capacity, is to demolish the existing structure and to build a completely new stand.
    While such an enterprise is entirely possible, the costs would likely render the project uneconomical with a payback period measured in decades, which would probably be unacceptable to FSG.

  • @RS-xx9ve
    @RS-xx9ve Год назад +8

    When I was little, the KD Stand towered over the rest of the ground. I was wondering what sort of view it would have when it was being built. Now the Kop and KD are towered over.
    Bottom line, if FSG get their hands in their pockets, 2 new stands +corners are doable. Will prob need transport upgrades too but so what. If Everton can spend 500m, LFC have only spend 220m and LFC wins Champions Lgs!

And also improve the general area around the stadium where there is unused/vacant land. Liverpool FC are not owned or financially backed by an multi plus billionaire oligarch, Sheik, investment fund or state, so need to make the most of and maximize match day revenue, sponsorship and smart recruitment and player sales to compete. Your point is correct. A railway link would need to be done before any expansion is done.
    Then buy up the houses and do another world class stand like the main stand. Also renovating the Kenny daglish stand could add more seats than any renovation of the kop.

    I think the club will become addicted to the positivity and money the two expansions have brought in and go for phase three and four at some point. You'd even be tempted to demolish SKD and the Kop and build a brand new superstructure around the current footprint, which would require purchasing and demolition of entire near-side terrace on Skerries Rd and a tunnel for WBR behind the Kop. That way you could build a much larger Kop, a SKD stand that's near enough Main capacity, and crucially you could have corners either end of the SKD. Probably could add something in the realm of 10-15k extra seats that way, bringing the ground to 70+. Would the club be happy with that capacity for the next 50 years? If they could get it up to 75k, I think they would. Would cost something in the region of £250-300m, but given what new stadiums are costing e.g. £1b+ in London, and the fact they could completely modernise the hospitality facilities too (maybe not in the Kop which should just be for STH and GA fans) they would see an ROI.

    Just under 9000 seats to make it the same size as main stand. They will pay the loan for main stand and Anfield road first, then pursue the redevelopment, purchasing further houses in the process. It maybe the next street will have to be flattened also. This would make the stadium 70k with just the Kop to redevelop. Again another long term project but the A road could be moved, knock down the shops and develop the Kop like anfield road. The main issue is the church. This would take capacity to around 77k. It’s going to cost a huge amount, but it’s worth it for the next generation of fans to enjoy the one and only Anfield. For this to be expanded there is no getting around the homes behind it can't be there, nobody living there is going to agree to having the stand encroaching there homes anymore than it already is. The only way it will be expanded or can is those living there to be given a seriously good offer to sell up which 100% should and only be the way its done.
    I am pretty certain when they submitted the planning permission for the Anfield road end part of it was demonstrating with current measures in place and things like controlling crowds coming earlier and staying there after games to slow the flow of people arriving and leaving at the same times, they showed with current and new measures they proposed could allow for something in the region of 70k capacity. If you then added the railway on top of that capacity wise the expansion is more than possible and viable, there wouldn't be expansion to this stand unless its significantly increased.
    It is 100% possible to expand the stand but its going to take a massive effort from the club, the city council and people living there to overcome a lot of hurdles to make it happen. Until you here the people living in the homes directly behind the stand mentioning an approach its not even near the planning permissions stage and wouldn't get too excited of any plans from the club to even be thinking about it.

    90% of the 3 rows behind the SKD stand are rented out, and LFC owns a number of the properties anyway.
    11,000 seats could be expanded to 20,000. This will allow for an additional 40m - 50m a year match day income if you split the additional 9,000 capacity 50% hospitality (the lowest price) and 50% lowest price (non-hospitality). So if it costs 100-120m, it would go well. A train stop is doable, as you said in your video.
    Liverpool could get planning permission to expand and put a self-restriction (to give them time) and agree that though they will get planning (minus transport), they will not open the additional capacity until they satisfy that requirement. They then apply further to meet the transportation needs to use the additional capacity. Then they could get going, as 90% of the 33 houses in the 3 rows behind SKD stand, including Skerries Road, are rented out. I don't know how many LFCs own.

    Only way the club can persuede a few of the street home owners to move is to either offer absurd money for their house, or the club would have to buy derelict land close to the ground and build newer better houses for them to move into.
    There is a load of waste land around the ground that is an absolute eye sore from wnen the old streets were demolished. Building new homes on that land could help as they would still be local to Anfield if thats why they refuse to sell.
    Of course they are entitled to choose not to sell their home if they wish as it may be sentimental to their family.
    Hopefully it can be sorted and the club can keep making progress with the stadium

      Hi mate, hope you're well, yeah I agree completely no one would like to be forced out of their home, that's not what I'm suggesting here I was just making the point that if LFC did expand SKD that nearby road would potentially make things challenging

    • @PixelModding
      @PixelModding Год назад

      @@thestadium00 Don't worry mate I know you aren't suggesting to force anyone out their homes. I just said that because in the past people who live on that road have refused to sell or move and it would take a big offer for them to do so.
      As a Liverpool fan I want this expansion to happen too and hopefully it can get done with everyone happy, club and residents.
      Would be interesting to see drone footage comparing the size of the main stands footprint, and then seeing how much room would be needed on the SKD stand side to replicate the main stand.
      Thanks for the video mate.

    I think Liverpool should build a new stadium. They should build it near Anfield if possible. The stadium should have at least an 80,000 capacity. I hope if they build a new stadium it will not look like all other new stadiums. I would give it an organic look with all four stands having different architectural features while being equal in height. The seating should be as near as possible to the playing field and the playing field should be the size of current Anfield.

      @thestadium00 Just don't think the money or political will is there - look at the cost of the Headbolt Lane Station on an existing Merseyrail track - I just don't see that as a new route being opened up - a link to the airport is more of a priority imo.
