I recently thought about Demko’s bubble performance as a Leafs fan, and I’m no stranger to a goalie bailing out a vastly underperforming team (such as Reimer in 2013 or Andersen in 2018). But this performance was an example of “bailing out your team on steroids.” I’ve always liked the Canucks since I have family who are Canucks fans…but man, I’ve never felt worse for a goalie who is not on my own team than Demko after game 7. He singlehandedly dragged that Canucks team to have a chance at the conference finals. His performance was inspiring to watch, and I loved every minute of it.
As a canucks fan, it's really astonishing how much of an impact demko has been for these years. A backup for markstrom that had to play game 5 in the 2nd round with no ice time since the beginning and was lights out amazing through all 3 games. Only letting in 2 goals during said games. I honestly want to believe that drained the confidence against the knights who were believed to be a massive powerhouse in the playoffs that year, but were barely shut closed due to demko. Cannot wait to see this man in the net in the coming months.
I remember thinking we were screwed when we found out Markstrom was out. Then watching Demko play and thinking "holy shit they can't get it past him." My man must've needed back surgery the way he carried us through those last couple games
Whats crazy is he is only 25 and markstrom didn't get good until 30 and goalies don't become this good until until late 20s or early 30s. The Nucks goaltending is going to be stellar for years
My favourite thing I heard someone say after this series was. “demko broke the knights ability to score” because he really did Vegas almost got swept that next series.
Insane to think about how the Canucks were two goals away from beating Vegas thanks to Demko... the Canucks are in good hands this year that kid is incredible
Big body with incredible awareness of angle, great speed, and just straight up puck and opposing team player awareness. He looks better than luongo at his best.
Demko is a Goalie God when he plays hey deserves alot more appreciation such an under estimated goalie he never let's goals in if he does its cuz Canucks.def never do anything but I'f he let's one goal in he shuts the gates
I’m just now remembering how stressed out I was during this series. 😂
He doesn't swallow that many up but he's highly athletic and gets in good position after making saves. Very Price-like
Yes, should get better at absorbing pucks over the next few seasons.
48 shot shutout

Bruh I wish we won this series
Demko did everything he can to keep the Canucks in the Playoffs

This aged very well 🤘
Nice video! Thatcher is a lot better than I thought he was gonna be
The back-to-back rebound save at 2:54 blew my mind seeing it live. I was sure that would be an easy empty netter rebound. He moved so quick
Lmao at 1:19.. Stone wanted a penalty?? Yeah ok.

Thatcher Demko VS The Vegas Golden Knights. One to remember for sure
As a goalie I feel for demko losing game 7 he deserved to go to the conference finals

U know it's insane when the video is cut while Demko is still making game breaking saves lol!
Great video!
Demko is gonna have a good future hes quick and always knows where the puck is tbh i think hes better then markstrom

If it wasn't for Demko we would have never even made it as far as we did once his contract reneweds he better demand more money
He's signed for 5 years 5 million right now
