    Does anybody know what the standard marching cymbal size is?

      Hunter Alexander I would say most cymbal lines use the 18’ inch zildjan stadiums

    • @Ottomagne
      @Ottomagne 6 лет назад

      Definitely not stadiums. Unless you're in a high school setting (where money is tight, you need cymbals that can be beat up and not break after multiple years, AND you're not trying to create super brilliant sounds), stadiums are WAY too thick and dull to make any good sounds out of
      There is no real "standard" size. The drum corps I work at exclusively marches 20". Other's vary the sizes based on players (seen here, where the women have smaller sized plates). Some groups march really small cymbals (Pioneer uses 14"-16" plates). Also, the setting matters as well - indoor groups will tend to use smaller plates than most outdoor groups.
      If you're trying to prepare for an audition, the best bet you can make is to try and just use whatever cymbals that group would be using. If you're going to be just getting a pair to practice and get stronger, go for a set of 18" or 20" - better to over-prepare and be used to heavier cymbals rather than under-prepare and be caught off-guard in the end.

      Hunter Alexander my school has 3 of us who march 18in (including me zildjian stadium. We also have one 16 inch zildjian stadium and a 14 inch for the 1st and 2nd cymbals.

      They're not angry . . . It's called "TOTAL FOCUS" and they definitely have their 'GAME FACE' on . . . . all good athletes do that as they're prepping for their sport and show.

    If it wasn't for the listless un/re-loads, I would think this video is from 2005. Ugh. Probably the most boring cymbal writing I've seen in a while. These are like A-class high school-level difficulty cymbal parts. They really need to update their technique too; those wide Vs look so bando and lame.
