I enjoyed seeing these, especially ‘Little Egypt’. Gambrel roof houses may have been more prevalent but a lot of them were later renovated into 2 full stories or just didn’t survive. Oakland Plantation ( private) just north of Charleston, SC is another fine example of this period of house in the south. Thanks for taking us along on this tour!

I just checked- Tredegar in Richmond was built in the 1830s, named for another Tredegar Ironworks in Wales, maybe made there?
Great video- I think as far as Garden Week, sometimes the open homes don’t have gardens, but they may have floral displays inside made by various garden clubs in the area ( that’s been the case several times I have gone).
Thanks again for showing off these great homes!

OK, thanks. Yeah, they all do have pretty good floral displays on the inside.

Ooh, you are in one of my all time favourite parts of Virginia. Travel through that area along Rt 17 all the time. Love the old houses along the roadway, and Tappahannock is just a real gem!

Thank you. I love your channel. I've been all over the States, and I'll tell that Virginia has some the most beautiful homes and towns in America. Hands down. It doesn't stop.
