Another thing I found that really helps with your streamline is if you go to a rec center that has limited lanes and you have to share a lane with someone. It forces you to streamline your body so you're not hitting each other in the lane.

Thanks Ferris! I'm a 59 US Masters 🏊 from Mission Viejo.. I really live in Downey. I 🏊 with the club a couple of times a week.. But I swim 6 times a week.. At South Gate Park Pool and Belvedre Park East Los Angeles...Where I am the oldest LA County Pool Lifeguard Recruit right now. You're videos are outstanding! The techniques I have gleaned and implementation into my 🏊 have allowed me to get back into distance 🏊. In just 2 months.. I've been able to drop a minute off my 500 to just under 7:00 and I completed and won the 1000 im my age group on 4/9 my 59th 🎂 at the Arizona Zone Championship meet at Oro Valley. I was the only man my age to swim the 500 and 1000 both days..So I came home with my gold medals.. I didn't DQ!😎 Thank You from the bottom of my ❤. You have kept me motivated and educated and helped me become a MV Natadores and now a LA County Pool Lifeguard. Next year/season, my Masters Coach is going to allow me to compete on his JC Squad at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo!..You have played a big part in my 37 year come back from being a 15 year old swimming AAU ELAAC under Ron Ballatore to now being a MVN and a defender of life in my community.
God Speed You Through The Water Coach Ferris!

By far, the most common problem with getting a perfect stream line is a slight arch in the back. All of the swimmers here do this. Not sure if that was you, male in blue trunks, but that was probably the best example of an arched back. Best advice I ever heard was from a Speedo Coach who said, 'suck in your gut like you are trying to put your belly button on your spine'. Most have to go to a slight pike/dish in the opposite direction. Getting that arrow/torpedo shape is the key. Banana doesn't go as far...

I just tried it in the pool! Amazing the increase in the distance I get in the push off if I take the time to have my arms fully extended before pushing from the wall. The water feel different at push off. I will start doing it every time. I reach beyond the flag before having to give any butter fly kick. Pretty cool! Thank you! 👍👍👍

Hi there! You'll want to push off at the intersection of the T on the wall, which is about a foot or two under the surface of the water. Try to get 2-3 underwater dolphin kicks in before you start to pull. Happy swimming :)

@@FaresKsebati Another question: what trajectory is recommended after push-off? I mean, shall I go horizontally, a bit under the water surface, or is better to go down a bit (like 15-30 degrees to surface) and later start to go up?

Somehow, in my country, the word "streamline" has replaced the "underwater dolphin kick". And its meaning as the body position that minimizes drag is not recognized.

What do you guys think about overlapping hands when doing flip turns, does it "feel" better or is "it" better to rotate in the direction according to the overlapping hand, so right hand underneath the left hand when rotating right (frontal area facing up), or left hand underneath right when rotating right for example.

Keep at it. I snorkel, here in Florida. In the easy summer, I can hold mt breath for slightly more than a minute. By August, I can hold it for 3 minutes, underwater, and swim across the 25-yard pool freestyle on zero breaths. Keep practicing, holding your breath, and you can do it for longer.........
