  • Here's a video showing my brother's sluice box in action on the North Saskatchewan River. The video includes some details on his build a fast forward clean out and the results of panning a sample of concentrates.

    A very well made box there. When it comes time to replace the cookie cooler classifier you might want to step up to a more robust #4 (1/4") woven wire screen. Certainly stay away from punch plate or parallel rods.
    In addition - having seen your mat rolling and re-rolling technique I am sure you are familiar with Gold Hog mats. Carefully consider them when replacement time is neigh - especially for that very fine Gold. I use them exclusively and have never found better in mining in Alaska since 1966.
    PS - when "discarding" the oversized 'stuff' - consider flipping the classifier pan upside down straight onto an 'oversized pile' to inspect the very bottom (now the top) for the occasional + sized picker or nugget. THE FIRST TIME you find one the extra effort will have been well worth it..

    Nice rig. Great to see it's made by an individual, and not store bought. The mind...terrible thing to waste! Get the Gold!

    I love your stuff. I could be wrong about this but according to the Dr. on Gold Hog he would say you can get more gold if you run your expanded metal in the opposite direction.

    I built mine too! I think you did a great job. Only change I see is put the wire under the box on the head.

    If your in alot of black sands I'd go with some gold hog mat and add a couple more feet...something to think about, all in all nice set up.

      Thanks! I'm not sure which sluice you're referring to. If you post a link I'd be happy to take a look.

    You need to pan it out a little bit more than this to actually get rid of the Heavy's in the pan. A lot of people try to pan down just so much whenever you are a greenhorn it's what you do leaving that much concentrate have you seen the pan before looking to see what you have one must be patient and just paying it down to the part where you have very little in the pan then look to see what yellow you have.. but yeah back on the running the box there temp slowed down the amount that's going into your box you'll be able to actually recover more gold then what you're getting also. In other words just slow it down some on the shoveling the material into the box. You will see a huge difference in more gold recovery this way I know I ran a sluice box highbanker that I made back in Western North Carolina for three years and did pretty good once I realized what I had to do and what I should not do trial and error is what it's all about LOL you actually learn real quick whenever you see more gold in the pan whenever you change things up a bit.

      I believe you... Tell us more.. I hear the sluice at 21-22 degrees is about right, does that sound correct ? ... Do you think HIS metal grate in his sluice is configured in a disadvantageous position ? Im making mine now, and I want to do it as best as I can the first time. Ive been a student of gold for a while but only now going for it !

    What size water pump are you pushing here ? Great video !

    • @GrorangeGarage
      @GrorangeGarage  5 лет назад

      Thx, it’s a 2” pump running at idle. I’d suggest going a bit smaller, maybe 1 1/2” to keep the weight down and save some cost.

      @GrorangeGarage  6 лет назад

      Hi John, using a low cost 2" gas engine powered trash pump. You can see the pump in my other video: ruclips.net/video/HQZ61CfZuEc/видео.html

    • @GrorangeGarage
      @GrorangeGarage  4 года назад +1

      Hi there, the main body is a piece of Aluminum that was cut to size then bent (broke) to make the sides. The legs, straps, etc. were riveted on.
