Thank you! For giving of yourself to share your journey... I know of a person who was the keyboard musician in a popular band who died from slow-moving ALS in 2005 and just spoke with an acquaintance the other day who is planning a cross-country bike ride with a dozen people. I'm not sure when it's going to begin but the money that they are going to be raising will go to families...I'd like to share more of that information when I get it. And lastly, I saw Richard Kiley perform The Impossible Dream in the Man of La Mancha when I was 17. It's an amazing song with a powerful hopeful message. To Aaron, I wish you all the best.
@@englishlady8863 incorrect -- Hawking was diagnosed with ALS in 1963 and lived with the disease for 50+ years. ALS is 1 of many "motor neuron" diseases.
@@englishlady8863 everybody has "motor neurons" -- they are a type of cell in the brain and spinal cord that pass electrical impulses to the muscles to propogate "motor" or physiologic responses like speech, breathing, talking, moving, swallowing. "motor neuron disease" is a condition (a catch-all among multiple disease diagnoses) that impedes the transmission of those electrical impulses. Thus, the body's deteriorating ability to have those physiologic responses.
