This definitely one of my favorite episodes. Zisheng is so gentle with Niao Niao. It’s heartbreaking to watch Niao Niao cry. I’m so happy Zisheng is there to hold her. He would do anything for her❤️
Zhao LuSi actually got it right on such a deep level. Niao Niao does not cry often. Especially when others bully her. But this was someone who does not value life at all and has no qualms about killing her and walking away with little to no repercussions. Probably already has in the past. So seeing him, he has broken through all her walls and she does not want him to see what she has been through. She does not want him to retaliate and make things worse for himself or her because he is very extreme in his punishments while she pulled a prank that really did not cause great harm. The end result of her prank was the princess telling on herself and the Emperor and Empress seeing her in her true colors. Also timing. She wanted the Empress to have a wonderful birthday. She does seek her own retribution, which he is upset she will not tell him about what happens, and let him handle it because she could be severely punished for attacking a person of the royal family. She just sees someone wronged her and they must pay because she sees no difference in class standings. When she turns around she feels herself crumbling under the weight of his presence and stare. She feels like a child that needs protection, therefore she cries and it sounds like a small child's whimper. Her emotions are out of control and she is vulnerable, only with him. She shows her true humanity to the sole person she let in her heart. He senses she has had some misfortune but will not share it with him. He yearns for her to share it but since she will not, he decides to show her how to gain an upper hand. He is hoping she will confess. He feels she does not trust and love him enough yet to open up. He can't see she is protecting him from himself. But she gets the feeling of security and protection with love when he holds her tight, how he is gentle while he teaches her, how he lingers lovingly caressing her and professing his pressure point for life and death is under her control. She is finding a connection on a whole new level with his contact and how gentle he is being to her, watching her fear of him melt away, because he is tyrannical to others, yet soft and careful with her in tender moments like this. Plus with her lack of contact, she has to become acclimated to being touched. He had to wait her out from frozen in anxiety, to comprehension, to comfortable with the feeling or proximity, to yearning for it to never end. You can see it in her face and eyes if you know what you are looking for and have the patience to wait for her. He had a lot of the same issues, but he chose to distance himself as a child, focusing on revenge and plotting, as opposed to Niao Niao who was abandoned, banished, and tormented which was out of her control.
This scenes are a masterpiece!!! You can feel sweet at how Zisheng missed Niao Niao, then feel hurt and upset for NN for being bullied. Then be amused at how helpless LBY is when she was crying.. then a marital arts demonstration that made me blush, this was ❤❤❤… and from romance to sweet when he promised to do anything for her.. and the whole time LBY’s tone of voice was so warm, sweet and gentle.. everyone melted 💚💜🍑… what are you guys doing to us.. this scene is amazing… can repeat this forever and still enjoy it.. thanks Dr. Fei, Wu Lei and Zhao Lusi.. calling it chemistry is not enough.. it’s like magic… you got us spell bound!

Zhao lusi's cry acting is the best i've ever seen, i can feel her emotions through the screens that i would even cry with her ... i understand her frustation as i cry like that as well when i'm angry and try to suppress them, it's frustating yet i don't want to make a big deal with it ... wu lei's reactions to her crying is warm hearting as well, i wish to meet someone who can calm me down like ling buyi did to niaoniao .. these 2 are such a mesmerizing couple, they compliments each other well
I want to believe that he reads between the lines when she ask him for ways to help defend herself. Knowing that others once again are hurting her And i love his face when she turns into before asking him to hug her tightly. It's both of concern and so much care. Man, these two have a very strong chemistry together!!! They really bring these characters to life! So much that I feel every bit of what both are expressing in this scene. BRAVO
The two leading characters make the story so believable. These scenes are so romantic and loving in such a gentle, sweet way. The director did such a good job showing them what to do and tge actors probably like each other enough in real life so there is nothing awkard about watching them being so natural with each other.😊
This is heart breaking watching her try to be strong. I've seen some comments saying she should have told him but the reason she didn't is she knows he would bring hell down on those who hurt her and as some of the ladies are royal he would lose his life. The need to be strong in front of the one you love more than anything else is hard, she has to be able to fight her battles as he won't always be there. Listening to her cry broke me, it's 15+ years of pain been released it hurt to listen to her but just when I thought I couldn't cry anymore she made me laugh tighter tighter not to tight I can't breath. What she has failed to see and it takes her quite some time to realize it is she is so much better than any other female if she wasn't how did she in her words and her mothers uneducated ill mannered disobedient girl attract three and possibly more suitors. They see what she can't that she is the best and always will be. To be loved by Niao Niao is indeed very special.
Right. And also she didn’t want to put the Empress into a tough situation in court and become sad because of the fifth princess actions. If Zisheng did know he would (and did) create chaos of those that harmed Shaosheng. Then the empress would know right before her birthday celebration that her daughter almost killed someone, and would become publicized to the world which would put the celebration at risk. That would not end well since the empress birthday celebration is a huge deal in the nation.

I’ve come to watch LLTG before other costume dramas and i regretted watching this first. The cinematography, production, actors, storyline are so perfect i can’t appreciate others anymore. I watched this before WRTW and it still can’t surpass LLTG. Superb!

As it should be..she could have died, as she does not know how to swim. That dress would have weighted about 3x as much wet as dry, and the layers would have bound to her body. Now picture his reaction to "pranking" his only wife. He is the equivalent of a prince himself, so primary wife and at least one concubine was the norm. He swore that away for her with empower and empress as witnesses, burning the city down might not be enough...
Only burnt down the city? Wu Lei said himself that Ling Buyi is an incredible friend but not someone to make an enemy of. I dread to think what he would have been capable of if Shaosheng had told him exactly what had happened.
I also find this scene is the most beautiful& romantically sweet in this drama👌❣. Love to watch Zisheng's expressions & the way he looks at her. Those eyes are very attractive👍❣

She cried so hard and needed to be comforted. But when they spoke later after the truth came out, she tried to say it wasn't that bad and the snakes were ones she saw in the country. Naw girl. You were scared and angry. But LBY is a beast when he's upset, so I get it. He for real would've gone after everyone and did it anyway.

It's not first time for Niao Niao to get unfair treatment. She endured, tackled and faced it all alone when she was a kid, when her 'family' gave her a miserable life in the absence of her parents. But she completely broke down now because Zisheng's love has softened her heart. She is expressing her ordeals through her tears. She is relying on someone else other than herself for the first time in her life. So instead of enduring it within her heart, she embraced him to ease her pain. Look how he changed her mood with his affectionate gesture despite not knowing what she had gone through! This is why finding your true love is so blissful 🥺🥺
It's SOOOOOOOOO painfully obvious in this scene that neither of them know how to comfort another person, solely because of their upbringing - One person due to neglect and always alone, the other because of violence and nothing but war. It's so so sad seeing how even though they come from different psychologically traumatic backgrounds, they still mentally hurt the same way...
watch this scene again got me some feeling of sadness, how frustrated shaoshang was when she can't tell him what actually happen to her when in the past she is not the type of let go anyone who bully her. must be so hurt.
This scene is so good.. watching this several times. But then I realise that with the same cry, I'd be so ugly and for sure will have swollen eyes afterward, while Shaoshang is still beautiful

But Zisheng and Shaoshang's love story and their journey of overcoming their own dark and traumatic past to build a beautiful future together is one of a kind and touched my heart so much that I know it's hard to find something else similar to it. Fate tormented their childhood and they had to learn how to survive in their own ways in order to become strong and protect themselves when they had no one by their side and were all alone. But when fate made them cross their paths, it was as if a chance to turn around their misery and live for happiness. Shaoshang's line is so apt here - it was as though she was accumulating all her good luck just to find him. Zisheng's eyes always speak who resides in his heart even when his revenge and responsibilities hurt her. Nobody understands him better than Niao Niao. They can live and die for each other. His eyes always look for her when she is around. It's so romantic and beautiful that it surpasses all other intimate moments/scenes other dramas show to portray the deep relationship between a couple!
This part was difficult to watch how much Shaosheng is suffering from all this bullying and torment without sharing her pain with Buyi. Once Buyi discovers what caused his future wife to cry like this and be at her vulnerable state which is rare that it angers him that it was 5th princess who put Shaosheng through so much suffering
Thats why he didn’t forgive those girls and their fathers and the princess for what they did to her he knows how much she cried that night and he didn’t even know why she was crying

I was looking for this kind of comment. He should've picked up very quickly that something wasn't right. She looked off when opening the door to him. And she didn't say a single word to him. Where there would be some kind of banter from her, there was absolutely nothing. Like she checked out to a certain extent. He is an extremely observant man in everything he does. Ever since i watched this drama, things have been different! I feel something lacking chemistry wise for most couples in dramas I have seen after LLTG... I think it's because I just compare their chemistry to Zishang and Niao Niao's chemistry...
