planetary gears but it would be a buzzing not grinding sound. Gears are used for many things i had the displeasure of driving a cvt when it failed car just shut off while driving and engine light came on for first time(there where signs well before even after transmission service it was on borrowed time) there where no grinding sounds it did hesitate buck and shudder a lot before it failed(the failing 4eat in my subaru has been over 8k and its actually somewhat better after 2 drain and fills + filter)
How about catastrophic failure at 20k going down the freeway at 80 mph in the fast lane and all of a sudden a horrible noise and front right tire locks up ? Not wheel bearing or brakes 🤷♂️ It’s a 2016 our in-laws just gave it to us with 20k miles we barely drove it 40 miles 😞
Bonjour j'ai une Subaru Forester 2010, automatique. C'est difficile pour passer les vitesses. Ma question c'est la transmission ? Ou le câble de transmission ? Merci et respest à vous.
Just bought a 2023 Impreza automatic. Shift from Park to drive or reverse to drive or any combo... there's about a 2 second delay and if you touch the gas within that time it makes a hard clunk noise. I was told this is normal. Never had this in any other car or truck. "Normal"?
Hello, I have a 2006 Subaru Baja and recently replaced 4 quarts of fluid and filter on my tranny. When I started the car and tried to shift the automatic tranny it will not shift to any gear to drive forward to back. Any idea what occurred?
4q for your torque converter and 5q for your oil pan. Usually you dont get all the fluid out so you’re right to only add 4q. Providing you only hear an electric hum/low buzz then just add a little more each time you attempt it and see if that fixes it. In my personal case I’ve replaced my engine in my 2007 Subaru Impreza and had to add 4q of ATF fluid for my transmission to shift. Currently trying to diagnose the cause of an ATF leak near the lip of the bell housing. Any advice there would be much appreciated.
I will go BACK to Ford next vehicle! NEVER should have left Ford! This 2016 Forester has been a money pit, and now it has transmission issues! 60K mile/5 year powertrain warranty, whichever comes first. Sorry ass warranty for sure. 59K miles and it is on its 3rd set of tires, 3rd set of brakes and rotors, both rear wheel bearing hubs replaced, and 3 recall repairs! Buy American next time! Even Hundai has a better warranty!
My 1997 SF5 ATF was drained by a a faulty gearbox seal which i later on replaced but i now experience slipping transmission after driving for about 5km. How do i fix this? Do i need a new gearbox?
Absolute nonsense. We have two 14 old Subarus, both with over 15,000 miles. Bought a third one last year as well. Research your subject before making a video and mislead people.
@@hentaitheg.o.a.t5012 this is really odd that you just now commented this because 2 weeks ago my valve solenoid went out. im planning the repair as i sit here
Problem 4 Grinding Gears. It's impossible for the CVT to have grinding gears because they don't have gears. You lost all credibility with that.

Any news? mine has been making a loud noise when I put it in park for years. Dealership doesn't hear it, but I definitely do and it's getting louder.
@@philiphawes9762 I traded mine back in days later for a huge loss. Terrible. Never going Subaru again
was it fixed?
@@DonnieTinaka no. Got rid of it. They kept saying it's "normal"
@@thegoudaguymikey Thanks for the update! Insane for a 2023 to be doing that. So young
Thank you very much. I love my Subaru but can't afford problems.
Where is the “fix”?
How much does it cost to replace the transmission?
Over a grand
