The Pioneer DDJ-SB3 is the newest entry-level Serato DJ Lite controller. The DDJ-SB3 has all the features of its predecessor and adds a few more nice touches, such as new play/pause and cue buttons that are separate from the performance pads, a dedicated Loop section, FX fade pad mode, and pad scratch mode by DJ Jazzy Jeff. I used the ddj sb2. Styleflip has custom vinyl skins you can place your own design.. A great intro controller. The play/pause cue edition to the sb3 made it like the higher end pioneers.. thanks for the video Kareem.
The ddj sb3 entry level controller without cue split function
In my opinion cue split is an essential function in entry level controllers.
So that you can practice studying and practice beat matcing at home without disturbing others at any time of the day,
I hope the sb4 will maintain the layout of the sb3 by adding the cue split function by eliminating the scratch pad.
This was an excellent explanation about this product, thanks for critiquing this. My seven year old son is wanting one for Christmas and the sales rep at Guitar Center said this exact model is more user friendly than the Numark. After watching this, my doubts have been alleviated.

Thanks ... I own the Pioneer DDJ SX and the Roland 505 (which I mainly use) but decided to cop the SB3 for some travel gigs (as a carry-on quick DJ setup). I also own the Pioneer DDJ SB2 but mainly used that to teach kids to DJ. I think this is a big upgrade from the SB2 due to the dedicated play/cue buttons and auto loop section. I hated using the shift key to access the auto loop on the SB2. This one mimics my DDJ SX more than the SB2. Good review.

I love your reviews man! Would you recommend the DDJ SB3 over the Numark Mixtrack Platinum? Is it worth taking the Numark just because of the pitch slider in case I’m just a beginner?

My Roland DJ 808 is out for repair, so I bought a DJ 202 has a backup solution. The crossfader on the 202 is not as sharp as 808. How does the Pioneer SB3 crossfader compare?
All of the $300 controllers have a similar fader including the SB3...

To the FX FADE, can you implement more types of effects? or its limited on a few just "fade" type effects? I`m comparing with the ddjRB-the PAD FX, that has a lot of cool effects to play with.

Hi just got mine and having a hard time to set it up I downloaded the serait Dj lite it’s not working and I tried it with a virtual Dj asking for license from amazon to purchase
You might need to download the drivers for it as well.

I have Serato DJ Pro. Will the S3 work "straight out the box" with the Pro? Or will I have to configure it?

Just got mine I have no speakers or headphones I am using it on my laptop and I play the music and I can’t hear nothing
You need speakers, headphones, and at least a 1 Channel mixer for starters to be able to make this work.

djBooth I have a numark mixtrack Platinum. I love the jog wheel display on it. I know i'd miss that. Thinking about grabbing this one because of the effect buttons and to practice scratching. Also wanted to try a pioneer i have only had Numark controllers. Which do you think is better out of the two.
It's a toss-up between the SB3 and the DDJ-400... If you want to stay with Serato, then go with the SB3... If you don't mind switching over to Rekordbox, then go with the DDJ-400 as it comes with the full out license to the software...

@@geearc2448 No, I think they are both on the same level... Not much more you can do with one that you can't do with the other. Best to save up for something next-level instead...

It doesn't really auto-mix but it will stop the track and play the next track...

You just need to connect cables from the Master output to the back of the speakers. The different cables and connectors you need will depend on the speakers but usually RCA to XLR would work for a controller like this.

I can’t see how the pads are going to help you learn to scratch. You need to get your hands on the jogs and work it out for yourself

@@Chris-mf7gb You won't need to do that. You can just use one RCA (L or R) into one speaker and the other into the other speaker...
