It’s so incredibly important what you’re doing. We have these insanely talented guitar players who want to share their knowledge and that’s so inspiring but they aren’t necessarily equally talented at teaching. These are different skills. Thank you!
Cheers for the feedback Adam. I work pretty much full time teaching Guitar, so for me to pop on RUclips a few times a week to outline some things helps my Students in-between lesson time, plus it's having a positive impact for anyone else watching, I'm here to help and share. I understand how slowly and clearly this stuff needs explaining. Thanks again, 🙂
I love it!! Keep them coming. I work at BNA and I’ve talked with both Ford and GT at different times before they flew out. They both told me this exactly. Ford was flying with one of Uncle Larry’s fender tweed amps, he had to buy a seat for the amp instead of checking it.
I’ve heard GT talk about playing Gmaj and Eminor ideas over A7 but can you help me understand why it works. I think he says doing so gives it a mixolydian vibe but I don’t understand why.
In this example it's "A Mixolydian" vibe, so it's an A7 Chord. A7 is the V chord in the key of D major, so D major is the Parent Major scale here. The notes of a Gmaj7 Arpeggio (chord) are all in A Mixolydian, (D major) so we can play G major 7 arpeggio over A Mixolydian and it will sound cool. Another way you can think about this, when ever you play a dominant 7th chord, you can play a major7 arpeggio a whole step down. In this case G is a whole step down from A. Let me know if this helps or if your brain explodes. Mail me if you have issues and I'll see how I can help you more. danrussellguitar@gmail.com If you Loop an A7 or get a jam track, play a Gmaj7 arpeggio over it and you will hear how cool it is. Loop a B7 chord and you can play an Amaj7 arpeggio over it.
It was Ford Thurston who issued that 'threat', not Guthrie Trapp. Am I right? 🙂 Both are scarily good cats. I hope you're familiar with their 'In good company' performance. If not, do go find it. 🙂
It was Guthrie, Ford is just repeating what Guthrie said. Funny, love all these guys. Get the full story here : ruclips.net/video/-1N8Uc-KEVw/видео.html
Yeah and that's just a little bit, it's a rabbit hole, if you want me to explain anything further that you're unsure about you're welcome to e-mail me and I'll help best I can : danrussellguitar@gmail.com
