I love the drone shots. More please! BTW, I found helpful putting a waypoint near my bailout point to make it easy while driving to find/pick that closer supercharger. So at the beginning of your planned stops, I would have put a waypoint on the highway near the Asheville supercharger.
that Mercury Mariner driver must be late for a very important meeting
Very in depth, thanks for sharing! I really enjoy these types of videos
Looks like a fun trip!
Its so weird hearing my hometown of Old Fort being mentioned. Its finally on the map! lol
Thanks for the tip on the White Pine TN EVgo install. Too bad it didn’t pan out. 800 Watt Road Knoxville was the actual EVgo site with the canopy?
That’s correct
Si strange that behaviour from the road map calculator..
Would like to see a video on your Tes-Lax set up.
I’m using it with a dual bus CAN server - what else would you Ike to know?
@@brandenflasch Just a little bit more about hardware and screen settings.
did you use FSD ? Im not sure if you even have it, i just came across your videos, so now i will be binge watching them. nice video keep up the good work. what kind of drone do you have?
No beta on HW4, but I have it, yes. Used autopilot most of the drive. I have a Mavic Air 2
Your camera is nice.
iPhone 14 Pro 👌
@@brandenflasch that's an iPhone 😮
Great drone video at that future Ultium Pilot (EVgo) charger install. How did you manage to upload so much footage of the Luke Bryan concert without getting a Content ID claim?
I agree about the charging curve, it almost seems like a mistake when it holds peak power for seconds. When CCS chargers do that, I blame it on the charger hardware being faulty. I'm not sure what Tesla was thinking with the charge curve.
I think it’s because most of the footage also had speaking, etc - I made sure to let this one sit in unlisted for longer than usual in case it flagged for copyright and had an alternate edit 🤷♂️
@brandenflasch Oh okay yeah and also the concert audio wasn't super clear like a direct WAV/MP3 of the song would be, so I guess that's why Content ID gave you some leeway. Usually you're only allowed to include less than 30 seconds of music.
Another question, are you going for a dark theme of your intro sequence? I've noticed on a few past videos your intro/outro sequence with your logo has looked a bit dark.
@ArtiePenguin1 not intentionally - that’s me figuring out HDR and adapting SDR content like my intro to HDR
@brandenflasch I figured it might be either that or color grading. It first showed up about a month ago. I didn't wanna criticize too much but the drone footage was quite dark compared to the rest of the video. Still nice shots though
@ArtiePenguin1 definitely comment if you see weird stuff since different monitors and things show it differently
Noticed you were in chill mode a lot. Did it help to squeeze a few more miles?
I'm still baffled on the active heating and cooling of the 4680 battery. I know I brought it up on the Out of Spec video, and it really doesn't bother me, but I'm just curious. Eventually more people will chime in with more miles on the 4680, and maybe future updates from Tesla will explain more.
Good to know about setting up the trip planner and reports of the chargers and layout. Thank you.
I just use chill mode to smooth out the pedal mapping a bit - doesn’t help with efficiency.
Ok gotcha. I never used chill mode, although I thought the pedal mapping was really good on the 4680 Y, especially compared to my 2018 m3 LR.
What kind of phone mount do you use?

I have a 2023 Std Range Y as well (delivered May), but you have zero range degradation at 6,000 miles and I have 2% already at 4,500 miles.
I have babied the battery. Supercharged 1 time. Always charging in my garage (~230v, 24a charger) charging only up to 80%, sometimes 90%, rarely allowing to drop below 20%.
You've liberally charged to 100% and driven yours pretty hard (as cars should be) and perhaps that equals better battery health? 🤷♂️
How are you seeing that you have degradation? Have you done recent deep discharges to single digit SoC and then charged back up?
@@brandenflasch I've never discharged below 10%. Is doing so periodically perhaps a good thing?
I use Teslafi (under charges, battery report); it tells me 100% range is now 272...I havent actually charged to 100% to see what the car actually tells me. Maybe Teslafi isn't always accurate 🤔
TeslaFi is only accurate based on the data you give it - need to have deep discharges
I'm assuming the top of that charger will be solar? I wish they all had covers on them. Also have you been to Duluth, MN near canal park? they have a big solar power array with destination chargers under it j1772==it was free when i was there (6 or 7kw).
No solar
I like when you check out the Chargers on your road trip Brandon. Did you buy a cowboy hat while you were there😂
@17:17 that charging curve on that Y is 💩. 65kW at 50% SOC?!?!
It’s bad - I have a full video about it coming out
@@brandenflaschOof yeah my ioniq5 will hold top charging speed until about 55% @ 240 kW. You need to do a 70 mph test also! I only got 225 In the ioniq Maybe the base Y could beat that
What kind of Phone Mount do you use?

the failure of the trip planning is one of two reasons this car can be great. concerning.
If you start introducing non Tesla DCFC stops into the Tesla trip planner’s data set it can glitch hard.
I am a Land Rover and Mini S E owner but follow this UK company on RUclips and they run a M3 that has suffered a mapping issue - no blue line but a route plan is calculated. He posted his experience and his fix with this on his channel here ruclips.net/video/MzodvRtrkrw/видео.html
