I love how in kids movies like this the villain just gets humiliated then in the game you just straight up murder them in the final level
I mean, they did murder the villain in the movie.
I was referring to Ratchet, I should have made that clear
🤣
@Spencer Green took me all week when I was a kid to get out of the train station. Shit was such an amazing feeling once I left😅
Robots was so good
Literally the ONLY thing I remember about this movie; was when Rodney was a baby and his parents just finished assembling him, only for them to be like "Wait, we wanted a boy, right? Hang on, I forgot to attach...something."
...yeah I watched this movie with my dad a few weeks ago and he gave me the
*w e i r d e s t* face that I’ve ever seen when they said that
And then there's nothing there afterwards, must have fallen off 😏
@@cringeivore3769 maybe it retracts
“This won’t hurt a bit son!”
What about Fender in drag dancing to Britney Spears? That's pretty hard to forget, isn't it?
Rodney's Dad in the movie: Working class man doing his best
Rodney's Dad in the game: Hey yo son lemme teach you how to commit C R I M E S
I like how the dad is so emotionless while telling u to commit murder
This game is pretty much a father trailing his son to become a killer for the kids
probably been through the robot version of afghanistan
Not his first time
What do you do with all the time you save from not pressing y or o?
well he's a robot they dont have emotions lol :D
This movie’s really underrated. One of my favorites as a kid.
"It's gonna get greasy" = "It's gonna get bloody" but for robots.
Why do you feel the need to correct someone when they already knew what you were correcting them on?
Wot, greez' robot blood.
I would love to see you guys make a video for the Shrek The Third game. I used to play it on the Wii years ago so I remember it well.
Seconded, or better yet, Thirded
I love completing the side missions and looking for the collectibles
Yes, please play Shrek The Third!
I have fond memories of actually beating that game as a youngin. It actually attempts to follow the movie, and it's not absolutely terrible, but decent at best

1:25 Chris Wedge is the founder of Blue Sky Studios, the animation studio that did Robots. He also voiced the squirrel in Ice Age
Did you mean 1:22?
“It was really annoying that you guys kept calling it a Jomba. It actually is called a wonderbot and it even says that”
If you didnt do it, I was going to xD
😂
Fun Fact: In the Robots game, Rodney is voiced by *Jess Harnell,* who is the same voice actor for Crash Bandicoot, Wakko Warner, and Spyro the Dragon!
Yakko gives Wakko a gun for his birthday and sends him on a killing spree
He also voices Ironhide and Barricade from the Transformers movies
@@Quackervoltz After he kills someone the last thing he says to that person is "My brother taught me this"
@@sth7724 Yakko watches on in gleeful delight
Kinda felt Jess harnell voice for Rodney never really fit the part in the game i felt they should of got James arnold taylor to voice Rodney instead giving his Obi wan voice sounds close to Ewan Mcgregor
“It’s your 14 birthday, and I have to give you your present...”
A GUN
Yes I too got a gun for my 14th bday
Aww man all I got for my 14th birthday was some pepper spray. My dad thinks I am a wuss.

All I really remember from this game is that in the final boss, if you run out of health, you don't die but instead get a unique cutscene where the villain goes "tsc tsc tsc, you're nothing but the son of a dishwasher" and then Rodney's weapon just breaks apart with Rodney looking depressed and walking away.
I respect the devs for going the extra mile for a failstate cutscene, but that was such an anticlimax of a game over lol.
Grew up playing this game, lots of memories! Definitely a pleasure to see it experienced (and righteously ridiculed) through a new player's eyes!
For a movie tie-in, this fever dream of a game was pretty good
agreed.. there are a handful of movie tie-ins that were actually good though.. mostly the older ones.. a good example would be monsters inc for the ps1.. that game absolutely slaps and is amazing.. then there is toy story wich i believe was on the dreamcast not the ps1 (could be on both tbh) wich is also pretty good.. and then of course not to forget harry potter.. for ps2 there are a few chicken little wasn't all too bad.. however if i'd have to pick one that is actually pretty good it would be Barnyard.. it accurately encapsulates the wack the movie was with silly minigames and well the best feature of the game that caused me to laugh cynically as a kid: being able to spray milk everywhere and on everyone.. also pretty nice how every character has their own reaction to getting drenched.
@@litchtheshinigami8936 There were even some like Ant Bully and as you said Chicken Little and Shrek the Third where the game was actually BETTER than the movie. (Of course none of those movies were that great to begin with) [Edit: Shrek the Third was mentioned in a different thread, sorry.]
@@NamelessKing1597 yes ant bully was an awesome game. I did like the movie as a kid but i remember also having the game (i mean i probably had most of them anyways because my dad would always get the movie and the game. And of course other games for me to play)
Spider-Man 2 the game and the spongebob squarepants movie game both released in 2004 were my favorites
@Daniel Valenzuela i don't remember it as well but i believe i did enjoy it as a kid.. (i had so many games i don't remember half of them. apart from those i played to death or those with frustrating levels.. for frustrating levels there are two that i remember standing out 1 being Kya dark lineage where the platforming was extremely clunky and hard. and the other being transformers decepticons for the ds.. there was a level where you have to defeat one of the autobots as megatron but you are extremely slow compared to your enemy.. so by the time you turn around to face him he's behind you already.. if you fly away to try and get a better angle he'll just shoot at you from a distance like a right prick)
Pirates of the Carribean: At Voting End
But hopefully the next game is Shrek the 3rd
They should do the barnyard video game, it’s one of my favorites all time
I love barnyard
Rodney after he commits murder: *My dad taught me that.*
Well its true, he did
Mind Pulp after that: Yes! Content!
*_"That's my boy"_*
Then kill the whole race then commits suicide 😈
Now thats the power of family
On the one hand, it was surprising to see them bring in Stanley Tucci to voice Herb here. Herb has more involvement in the game than the movie as he narrates every part of Rodney’s journey despite not being there with him. But on the other, I’m disappointed they couldn’t get Ewan McGregor and Robin Williams to again voice Rodney and Fender, I mean Fender doesn’t speak in this game.
I would have also liked if Ewan voiced him in the game instead of Jess Harnell. I don't hate Jess, it's just that I would have preferred Ewan voicing.
The Robots movie is a masterpiece! I’d actually argue that the aforementioned and The Peanuts Movie were the only two legitimately good films from Blue Sky, everything else ranged from okay to forgettable with only one film being truly awful, you know the one.
Also, Shrek 3 game next plz.
The purple rain jokes will never not be funny I love each one
I think the reason I find this channel so hilarious is because of how genuine and natural the humor and commentary feel, like when Max starts making a joke and Currie starts laughing half way through it, fuckin gets me every time.
A running joke i rarely see praise for is the Purple Rain joke. It always tickles me whenever it pops up
Yes!!!!! I’ve noticed it so much and it never gets old
Since when did Rodney’s dad taught him how to commit homicide,I don’t remember this.
It's was about protecting yourself in the city or otherwise those other robot bullies could've killed him! Just like all video games! Jeez Louise! Why do people like to turn our childhood so dark?? Fuck the Internet!
6:30 Rodney's well on his way to becoming a robot psychopath.
The movie itself is strange enough to be called a fever dream
Literally the only time I watched it was when I was 11 and extremely ill and my mother rented it from Blockbuster to keep me occupied during the day. I don’t know how much of my memories of it were real and how much of it was a hallucination
“My dad taught me that,”
I was not expecting that and I burst out laughing in public, oh my GOSH.
I was more shocked by how, not like the film he sounds...like, I've never heard a video game impersonation more off. I honestly thought it was another character speaking at first, because it just does not sound right.
@@josephchambers2000 the guy who did rodneys voice also did crash bandicoot btw
@@sporkhatsoda4532 it’s a huge jump from saying Whoa occasionally and successfully impersonating Ewan McGregor.
I literally read this as soon as it was being said lol
It's nuts that Batman: Arkham City stole the sliding mechanic from this game.

Mom: “We have ratchet and clank at home.”
: Ratchet and clank at home
Technically, since the villain is called Ratchet, she would be half right tho lol
It’s not a Mind Pulp video without a Purple Rain joke/reference.
I always thought this game was some wierd fever dream I had
Fever dream? Did you have a fever? Did it make you hallucinatory?
what is a fever dream
@@keegs1495 this
I tought the scooby doo Wii games were fever dreams lmao
Over The Hedge should be put on your list of games
bruh Rodney’s dad is insane-
Also he just sounds wrong what the actual heck is that voice
Fender dancing to Britney Spears was my fever dream
Ah, yes, the discount Ratchet and Clank of my early days strikes back
Also...since robots would have oil/fuel inside them as the closest blood equivalent, Rodney saying that it's going to get greasy is practically an admission of eager willingness to commit grisly murder. He's going to paint the world oily-brown.
Rodney is a masochist
And do girl robots go through monthly oil spills
It even has the same anti capitalist themes and messages as Ratchet and Clank.
I used to get Fender mixed with Bender as they’re both robots, but I’m wondering now if it was ever an inside joke with the studio...

Jokes aside, this movie was great. I have so many memories from watching it back when i was younger.
Hasn’t everyone seen this movie at least once in their life
Most just repress
Y’all might not like this movie but I legit still enjoy it
I still own the DVD case with no disc inside.
Yes because it was boring and slow
This game was actually really good for what it is, a film game made in a short amount of time.
agreed. honestly excellent
This is one of my favorite games of all time and nothing will change my mind of that. I personally think the game is very fun and super re playable.
Did you know the voice of video game rodney is Wakko from Animaniacs.
The gamecube and PC version of the game runs much better than the ps2 version.
Shrek the third
I literally finished that game in 4 hours when my parents gave them to me when I was 9... It was nice
This is actually my favorite animated movie that came out from Blue Sky Studios. A world full of machines, so many different color and robot designs. I would rather had a sequel from this movies then another Ice Age or Rio.
I agree
Yeah!! This movie was my childhood, and the game too. I still have the movie on dvd, and i would like go through the menus and games on it for fun.

You guys play the games we all owned at one point in our childhood that stay in our memory rent free.
Fun fact: this game had mods going around at some point, and I remember because my usual pirate PS2 games dealer would list the disk mods on the back
Which was mostly fixes for bugs, controllers and a pretty neat graphics overhaul that made the ps2 go brrrr if you played too long but was (a bit) closer to the movie by playing around with the color pallete and the gamma.
Ohh cool! I wonder if there are any for the PC version.
Rodneys dad in the movie: Kind, Helpful, and supportive
Rodneys dad in game: Commit a crime son
This game was so good. That one guy would yell at you for crossing the street and it gave my crippling social anxiety for the rest of my life

That'll be horrifying.
Shrek, and you HAVE to play the mini games
Why all the 2000s movie games had like parts of the movie for extras?
During the 2000s video games were INCREDIBLY easy to make, as compared to the 2010s & 2020s where now games are practically a computer software that has to be installed. In the 2000s, games could've been made in a matter of months as opposed to years.
And most of them made by Activision and made for ps2
Now you've gotta play Pirates Of The Caribbean 😂
