Your Disney princess immersion is literally rescuing birds and spreading awareness about bird sanctuaries! Your kindness is so inspiring! I love this so much!
Ah! I had to pause the video because the Snow White Makeup Thing is a MYTH! IT'S SO MUCH COOLER THAN THAT! The Ink and Paint Department was almost solely comprised of women (you probably know this), but so much of their history and contributions to the industry goes unsung! Mary Weiser, a Supervisor in the Color Model department took it upon herself to teach HERSERLF chemistry in her odd hours in order to figure out the paint formulas needed for color animation at the time. Before the paints wouldn't stick to the cels they used, or caused streaking, or wouldn't dry and remain sticky. This meant cels had to be washed and redone way too often. She proposed that there was no reason why Disney couldn't just make their own paints, making the studio the first ever to do so. With her formulas, she saved the company $6,000 in white paint alone. That was in 1936, adjusted for inflation that is $113,250 today!!! Mary Weiser ended up getting a degree in chemistry for the company and patented two of her paint methods. One of which being the transparent staining technique they used for Snow White's blush! Here's a section from the textbook I'm getting this info from: A light shade was applied to the back of the cel like usual for Snow White's skin, and then a light application of a transparent stain solution was strategically applied on the front of the cel. The stain absorbed into the porous plastic surface, giving the appearance of a gentle rouge-like blend. Red and orange dye combined with the powdered pigments of the Paint Lab to form the proper shade of pink. Carefully placed dots of this concentrated solution dissolved into a soft glow with no discernable edges, providing natural warmth to Snow White's cheeks. To maintain this glow on Snow White's face consistently across hundreds of cels, this delicate solution required an exacting application to the front of the cels across the action of each scene. Essentially, the women were animating the color. ... According to Ruthie Tompson, "Putting that rouge [solution] on [well], there weren't many people that did it. We had one girl, her name was Helen Ogger... She was an Inker, but she was the one ... Several of them tried to do the blush on the cheeks, and a couple of them were pretty good, but Helen was the outstanding one that did Snow White, and she did'em on the close-ups on the Dwarfs and stuff like that." The myth that these skilled women used their own makeup was a product of the newspapers and magazines at the time after the success of Snow White. The truth is that it was women doing science and highly skilled artistry. I got this all from a book called Ink and Paint: The Women of Walt Disney's Animation by Mindy Johnson. It's a fantastic book filled to the brim with forgotten history. I'm sorry for the giant info dump, but I'm a ginormous animation nerd and couldn't let it go. Also you can add Lotte Reiniger's Adventures of Prince Achmed to the list of full length animated movies made before Snow White. Her style of paper cut-out animation was so delicate and beautiful.
I adore this glimpse into your home life with Matt and totally relate to the ADHD (inattentive type) feels. Printing out recipes to put check marks for things that have been measured out has helped so much. Especially with things like sifting flour since it's so easy to lose track.
I have a lot of trouble measuring things out too but lately what I've been doing is keeping the number I'm at on my fingers, and saying the number I'm on over and over again until I've put in the next cup(or whatever measure you need). This, plus no one else can be in the room or attempting to talk to me (or I will immediately lose track and have to start over) really helps for me :)
I love how passionate Momo gets about Disney. I don't feel it for Disney myself but i know that emotion and it makes me smile to see her having passion and love and joy for a thing and then share it with us. I'm not even a fan of Snow White but i could sit and listen to her talk about it for hours. I just like seeing people expressing their inner joys, those things that they can think of or read or watch that just makes them feel right inside. Maybe that's odd of me. Maybe it's creepy. I don't know. I just like seeing people be happy and be happy _about_ something.
Fun pie crust hack: when you add water instead of a cup add half a cup of water and half a cup of vodka. The alcohol of course evaporates out early in the baking and leaves no taste. The high moisture at the start makes the dough very workable while the low moisture when it gets into baking makes the crust super flaky with an awesome texture.
I love the whole bird section. Growing up, my parents would take us cross country skiing. They always brought pocketfulls of sunflower seeds and we would spend at least 20 mins to one side of the path coaxing the birds from the trees. I suppose I've been lucky with birds, I had a friend who rescued parrots and had a ton of budgies. And I have had to rescue a robin, a raven, and about a month ago, a hawk. We have a great bird rehabilitation centre here in Ottawa.
My aunt before she passed away called me and my niece her "Little Chickadees" 😊 They are my favorite bird and when they come to my bird feeder I always feel like she is looking over us 💕
when you said "this is not my first time doing this by the way. just, everything i do, it really feels like i'm doing it for the first time" i felt that
Yeah Gooseberries (pronounced Gooz-brees, at least in Britain) are pretty rare outside of Europe, and even here's you'd be hard pressed to find them in a store. Along with brambles they were something you foraged rather than bought. If you want *close* fit then Gooseberries are in the same family as currants, so add a few of them to your pies :)
I've had a single gooseberry only once in my entire 36 years for this reason. Apple pie was an excellent substitution, and I also love fruit of the forest pie (apples n berries) for this immersion.
@@niteflitetheknitter In certain rural parts of Britain, we're still lucky enough to get a forage, which essentially becomes "Pie and Crumble Season" followed by "everyone's Grandma making preserves". And yep, the best pies are "Made from whatever we found today" Pies (this is actually why blackberries are THE ubiquitous berry in a lot of things. It's so obviously a blackberry that you can trust kids to pick it without toxic-berry worries). Sadly where I live now it's mostly Rosehips you can forage, which I personally do not like....
Gooseberries are related to currants, which is why they cannot be cultivated in large parts of North America. Even though some cultivars were native here, they can host pine blister rust, a fungal infection that is devastating to the North American lumber industry. You can sometimes find them imported, canned in syrup.
a mo mo video while i am painting christmas cards?? you knew i was stressed and needed this video. thank you mo mo for the most wholesome immersion videos!!
I don't have time this year, but I really wanted to do an ELF full immersion where I make that Spaghetti dish he makes. Next year I will torture myself in the name of the holidays.
I never realized how much I needed to see the idea of full immersion for a film until now. I love this so much. Truly this has brought so much joy to my day. I’m normally a “ghosting” viewer, I like the video but don’t normally comment. This is the definition of cozy feel good for me. Thank you for giving us content like this💚
@@MoMoOBrien Ah, was not expecting any replies to this!💕 Your videos have helped encourage me a lot to explore things I love more in-depth! But also a Star Wars vid with either 1970’s music or in-universe aesthetics sounds so fun! They actually have a cookbook for Galaxy’s Edge that has some pretty simple and tasty Star Wars recipes! (Also, you can find so many videos to teach you how to do cool lightsaber tricks with even store-bought sabers, it’s a very fun party trick to learn lol)
It's so fun how the immersion vids also double as mindfulness therapy, sort of.... With each one of them it's almost like we're sharing that immersion! Thank you so much Momo! much love, see you next time

the best part of this is the bit where Matt scares Momo with the egg and she looks like a startled puppy and he hugs her. has also happened to me multiple times because I have fibromyalgia so when I cook or bake, I often sit at the table and have a family member fetch things for me, and my sister thinks it's funny to pretend to throw things
I'm not sure if you can find gooseberries in Canadian grocery stores easily at any time of year, but my work grows them so I know they can grow in Ontario (Toronto, specifically)! They usually ripen in the summer (it's been a few years since we've actively been picking / doing stuff with them so I can't remember the month rn) and they look kinda like grapes but more spherical, though I'm sure you've probably searched up what they look like. The ones I'm familiar with are green and then ripen to red, and if I remember right they're usually pretty sour! Amazing work on the video, as usual, and I truly hope we get 1000 downloads b/c I have a mighty need to hear Doddle sing haha
The Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco has a gallery dedicated to Snow White and the process of creating the film. Not to mention the broader history of Walt Disney and the rotating exhibitions always deliver. If you ever get to SF at some point, you must go!
I sat for like 30 mins trying to coax a bird on to my hand and when it finally happened I felt like it was my Disney princess moment x totally worth it
I am a gemini, Moon is Scorpio, Rising is Cancer. Do I know what this means? Not really. Kaza helped me calculate it on an app called CoStar, and I've forgotten what its meant to mean.
I was "lucky" to hold a bird. I was working in my office and a bird knocks himself on the window that was open. The bird panicked so he began to fly everywhere in the office. Hopefully he finally understood that, if he keeps flying everywhere, he won't get out. So he stoped on a shelf and I grabbed him. He was scared and moved a bit, but didn't fight a lot. Then I put him on the ledge of the window. Then he looked at me a few seconds before flying outside. I almost felt like Snow White. And the boss gave me the little name of "bird saver". XD
Would you do all of the Disney princess in full immersion? I feel like that would be amazing!!! Or maybe your favourite Disney movies? Loved the video!
Would love full immersion specific board games - for instance, I've always wanted to throw a Red Dragon Inn party and have everybody come as specific characters!
Gooseberries are harder to find today, but can still be found with canned pie fillings in some large stores. They can be bitter and the texture can be like a concord grape (stiff skin, slimy middle). Pies vary in flavor so trying it once and not liking it should not keep you from trying another recipe.
As a born and bred Midwestern American, I LOOOVE Gooseberries; we used to find them out in our back yard and I'd eat them straight off the vine. They're so good and sour. Maybe it was a leftover Walt Disney thing from growing up in Missouri. They'll have them in grocery stores for a VERY limited time in the summer around here but they're really hard to find
"I want to know what it feels like to be so beautiful and gentle that nature loves you" I mean you say this, but I distinctly remember the first time I met you a wild fox just trotted over to you and cheerfully said hi to you while you were wearing a princess dress and a flower crown...

This was neat. Great video. Top tier accents.
I love this series and that little bird was TOO cute!!!
you two love each other so much I'm so happy for you
The FEAR in your eyes when he said "catch" is very relatable. 😅
Gooseberries are basically just big currants with a more sour taste- Coming from someone who has a bunch of berries in their backyard.
My Alexa started responded to your request with 80’s music 🤦♀️ Such a sweet video! I needed this today!
I am obsessed with Snow White! This is wonderful!
Trilling the Snow White song while mentally frolicking over to download a neeeeeew game. Thank youuuuuu
I sat for like 30 mins trying to coax a bird on to my hand and when it finally happened I felt like it was my Disney princess moment x totally worth it
MOMO! You came on my fyp on tiktok!! That is all I wanted to say, have a wonderful daaaay!

I am a gemini, Moon is Scorpio, Rising is Cancer. Do I know what this means? Not really. Kaza helped me calculate it on an app called CoStar, and I've forgotten what its meant to mean.
@@MoMoOBrien ahh i very much see ur rising being cancer !! 🤍🤍 ty for the info! ty kaza for coming through ✊🏼
This is my favorite Disney movie 🤍 snow white is such a beautiful movie 🤍 i had a dress like hers always dancing 😍😍
Very cute video! Have the urge to make a pie now
I was "lucky" to hold a bird.
XD
We had gooseberry bushes in the garden when I was a kid. They taste quite sour, like crabapples or sour grapes.
Would you do all of the Disney princess in full immersion? I feel like that would be amazing!!! Or maybe your favourite Disney movies? Loved the video!
😍😍😍 my go to comfort creator. Can already tell I'm going to watch this on repeat while baking Christmas cookies today.
Would love full immersion specific board games - for instance, I've always wanted to throw a Red Dragon Inn party and have everybody come as specific characters!
I love your videos and get so excited when I see a new one keep up the amazing work you are so wonderful 💖
Gooseberries are harder to find today, but can still be found with canned pie fillings in some large stores. They can be bitter and the texture can be like a concord grape (stiff skin, slimy middle). Pies vary in flavor so trying it once and not liking it should not keep you from trying another recipe.
I love gooseberries. I make this tart with yellow gooseberries, golden beets and goats cheese and it's really good.
Omg I never knew you and brizzy were familiar, I‘ve been a enjoyer of both of your videos for a long time :)
Yes! Love Snow White! ❤️💙💛
I am so gonna try the stuff in this video!
Momo video on my birthday! What a great surprise!
Well, this aged well.
As a man, I loved Snow White growing white. Thanks for doing her justice!
obsessed with the 1930s playlist 😍
Loved this ❤ 💙💛 Thanks MoMo! :)
How was the texture of the apple peel in your pie? I've never liked it. I've always had to make sure no peel got into my pies.
I loved the side by side
Nature really seen u sitting outside for hours and thought, damn we better give her a Chickabee for her efforts
"I want to know what it feels like to be so beautiful and gentle that nature loves you" I mean you say this, but I distinctly remember the first time I met you a wild fox just trotted over to you and cheerfully said hi to you while you were wearing a princess dress and a flower crown...
