It’s nice to see that Etihad has brought back amenity kits now that they’re profitable again, they took those away in 2018. For a little while, they also replaced the headphones with the earbuds and took away metal cutlery. It’s nice to see most of everything returned (although they’re still inconsistent with having metal cutlery). While not 2012-2016 quality, it’s still an improvement.

9:14 oh my god I cannot believe these are still there. In the early 2000s I got this stuff on Gulf Air. One thing I will never forget was when they saw me being tired. They offered my family to get me asleep at the empty row at the window and they brought me a pillow and a blanket.
That is a nice story, I am glad they were so considerate! And you remember for live, so those are precisely the moments that count. I’ve got similar memories and still love those airlines for that!

Great video. In August 2019, I flew in an Etihad A380 from SYD to AUH, and then onwards to AMS. I was on my own, and sitting on the other side of a 777-300ER, but otherwise my experience of the latter flight was very similar to yours. The weather was great, the views very scenic, and the in-flight service fantastic. Oh, and many years earlier, in 1988, I'd flown SIN to AMS aboard the 747 that's now the museum aircraft at Amstelveen. It's a KLM 747-200 combi with a retrofitted extended upper deck, and its name is Louis Bleriot.
This is a great video as a document of your trip with your boy .. but also a fine vlog about this very good airline .. I’ve been noticing that they’ve upgraded their soft product since I was last with them (November 2022) , but I’m likely to fly with them again soon .. definitely the best airline from the region imho .. Your boy is so well behaved, Alex , and it’s great that he’s following in your footsteps as a lover of air travel .. thanks for your hard work , your videos are always enjoyable and interesting, and I learn something new from every single one .. 🙂🙏

Even easier to check in for EY flights on Sheikh Zayed Road where they have the Etihad check-in area for people coming in from Dubai. :D Think they have moved it now. I travelled on EY once in 2006 too when it was fairly new. Was pretty nice. Not a fan of the Abu Dhabi commute but its way too easy and quick now. Prior to that, I was all EK. The things EK used to do for kids in the early 2000s were really nice. Still have some of the boxes they gave kiddy things in to store important documents. xD I remember this architecture was there in 2006 as well and those round departure gates when you enter inside that have the windows on the circumference. 2:05 Glad to have lived in Dubai since 2000 to see the transition of these airlines. :)
Excellent stuff once again, a airline I really want to try, great review they do look and seem really decent, and I feel they get overlooked by Emirates and Qatar so nice to see a bit of limelight for Etihad. Any Turkish Airlines reports coming up? Their A350 / 787 products are just fab. I never been on the A350 or 787, for which I will be going on SAUDIA’s Dreamliner for the first time to Jeddah. Although it’s not operated by THY, *_it’s still a 787 Dreamliner_* and I wouldn’t be anymore happier to be one of those jets 😎
Loved the video. I learned something about take off. It is nice that Etihad gives an eye patch for customers. Nowadays for long flights hardly airlines are giving amenity kits which I missed in economy. Is it not recommended to fly business with kids? Hats off work with the video while having a kid beside.
That’s why getting amenity kits surprised me so much, so a good thing on their side! Am glad some airlines are investing in service improvements instead of cuts after covid. I don’t want to fly Business with my kid.. I think it sends the wrong message. My parents never flew me in Business, only they went and the kids behind. If you want to get there, work your way there. And it worked for me. I’ll do the same. He only got to fly business when he was a baby, in his moms belly! 😜

Thanks a lot Itai for always being here! I love flying with him and I am glad to make something that he’ll be able to watch in the future. the food was very very good for an economy class. And a big portion too! Eric mostly speaks English, that is his preferred language, but he will randomly use some words in either Dutch ( he was saying Oma a lot = grandma), Croatian or Spanish. But he was very excited because he knows grandma was waiting at the airport so his mind was going faster then his words. He was basically saying that it is time to leave the plane as Oma is waiting, say “hi Oma,I miss you”. Parents will always understand that weird language kids speak 😂
Etihad is superior!! I’ll continue to have people discussing me that, but I am certain. Etihad rocks, and even more in Business Class. All their people are just so great and fun besides the top product. thanks for watching!!

I really appreciate the kind words, thank you! We had a great time indeed, it was a busy holiday. The flights in the air I recognize as in flightradar you can see all aircraft movements in the past. So, I go to the date of the flight and at the exact hour where I filmed it, and there I can see the planes that were there at that time. It’s basically live, but in the past!
Emirates gets my vote over the other two Middle East Airlines i love their cabin crew seats fantastic and food incredible from start to finish it’s my opinion and my favourite airline

I recently had a new experience when the pilot engaged the parking break during take-off final at the runway, I thought they where waiting for takeoff clearance, but to my surprise he pushed the thrust and the aircraft started to shiver a bit and then released the parking break giving us a push start to V1 speed….Can anyone tell me if it is a normal/genuine procedure or did my pilot forget to release the parking break prior to takeoff?
That is so cool and love that procedure!! And no, they didn’t forget, sometimes pilot do that or have to do that. One of the times where they have to is when the aircraft was snowed up in order to shake off any possible snow/ice. Some others do it for fun, other just to spool up or test something. All normal and fun!
@@TheLayoverAviation funnily enough, while we were taxing to the rwy 1 passenger refused to buckle up for take off, and the crew had a hard time getting him to do so, and i told my wife that maybe the captain wanted to teach that ma a lesson on what the consequence be :D
Of course a 3 year old knows his favorite food and drinks😂 3 year old know how to ask for what they want. And yes, he knows the big 3 ME airlines very well as he flies every 2 months or so with them.
I used to love it a lot when I was a kid. Haven’t watched it in long. I bet you would like the toys in Etihad as a collectable, they’re from Warner Brothers.

I thought Emirates was the most family friendly in wanting more kids to become the next generation of cabin crews and FA with their costumes. How come the smaller competing neighbor Etihad is more family friendly in your views?
They’re both great! QR too but we had a very hard time on QR with their A320’s as the IFE is either non existent or old, or no Wi-Fi, so the experience sucked for him. Emirates we like a lot too but he asked for Etihad this time. I’m glad they’re both my local carriers.

Doha to Narita is very specific, and to Japan I just must fly Emirates as they have a dedicated Japanese service which I love. But QR is coming up soon to various other destinations 😜
I’m doing that exact route in a few days. I record my trips to a small degree, not like what full blown reviewers do, don’t want to take likes or views away from them.

the food was very very good for an economy class. And a big portion too!
Eric mostly speaks English, that is his preferred language, but he will randomly use some words in either Dutch ( he was saying Oma a lot = grandma), Croatian or Spanish. But he was very excited because he knows grandma was waiting at the airport so his mind was going faster then his words. He was basically saying that it is time to leave the plane as Oma is waiting, say “hi Oma,I miss you”.
Parents will always understand that weird language kids speak 😂

Etihad is superior!! I’ll continue to have people discussing me that, but I am certain. Etihad rocks, and even more in Business Class. All their people are just so great and fun besides the top product.

The flight controls are checked as you can see them moving. The flap is just a thing out of experience 😊

We had a great time indeed, it was a busy holiday.
The flights in the air I recognize as in flightradar you can see all aircraft movements in the past. So, I go to the date of the flight and at the exact hour where I filmed it, and there I can see the planes that were there at that time.
It’s basically live, but in the past!
Emirates gets my vote over the other two Middle East Airlines i love their cabin crew seats fantastic and food incredible from start to finish it’s my opinion and my favourite airline

I recently had a new experience when the pilot engaged the parking break during take-off final at the runway, I thought they where waiting for takeoff clearance, but to my surprise he pushed the thrust and the aircraft started to shiver a bit and then released the parking break giving us a push start to V1 speed….Can anyone tell me if it is a normal/genuine procedure or did my pilot forget to release the parking break prior to takeoff?
That is so cool and love that procedure!!
And no, they didn’t forget, sometimes pilot do that or have to do that. One of the times where they have to is when the aircraft was snowed up in order to shake off any possible snow/ice. Some others do it for fun, other just to spool up or test something. All normal and fun!
@@TheLayoverAviation funnily enough, while we were taxing to the rwy 1 passenger refused to buckle up for take off, and the crew had a hard time getting him to do so, and i told my wife that maybe the captain wanted to teach that ma a lesson on what the consequence be :D

I thought Emirates was the most family friendly in wanting more kids to become the next generation of cabin crews and FA with their costumes. How come the smaller competing neighbor Etihad is more family friendly in your views?
They’re both great! QR too but we had a very hard time on QR with their A320’s as the IFE is either non existent or old, or no Wi-Fi, so the experience sucked for him.
Emirates we like a lot too but he asked for Etihad this time.
I’m glad they’re both my local carriers.
