I used to jodel when I was a kid and got pretty good at it, though never professional. That was when I was young and in good health. Now I'm sixty and my voice is cracked. I was first introduced to Franzl's jodeling in my high school German class in 1981. We all had pen pals from Germany. (Here's looking at you, Elke Schumacher, in Koln.) Elke said she listened to Franzl all the time.
I feel so sorry for him.. In 1995 he lost his son to a blood disease. He was only 29, and now we see him here one year later seemingly "Happy" and yodeling as always. His wife and family said he never recovered from the loss of his son, up until his death in 2015. I hope he was able to find some sort of peace or solace in any moment.. one can only speculate. RIP Franz, you were very special.
