    Thanks for the Video Victor.
    I’ve played with the new Airity at my local store and can say that I see no sensible reason to spend the extra cash on an Exist over it.
    So according to a rep from Daiwa Australia, this new Airity has the same main gear as the 23 Exist - Duralumin (A7075 Forged Alloy) main gear, it.apparently also has the upgraded main shaft with “special”collars, like the 23 Exist.
    Victor you might have noticed that the rear cover is a little bigger/fatter than the previous 18 Exist/Airity, apparently that was needed to house the differences internally.
    I’ve turned the handle on all the sizes 2000-4000 and I found the resistance in the bigger body sizes is drastically reduced, in fact I’d rather the 2500 with the bigger body, now called (PC) as it feels so much nicer to spin in my opinion for only an extra 15-20 grams. Have to admit that this is a beautiful reel and the clicker sound is much better than the old Exist.
    Cheers

    What's your thoughts on the Daiwa Ninja LT and Shimano Sienna/Catana for people on a budget?
    Also I have seen a lot, that if you are pike fishing you should get a 3000-4000 size reel. Is there any reason other than bigger drags and higher spool capacity? Or are there some better durability features, does it effect lure sizes? As my region doesn't have huge pike and I fish on rivers.

      Legalis family reel brings a lot of quality for a fee more dollars. So does sahara from shimano. Those are the cheapest reels i like. Sorry. As for pike, they dont fight all that much, just a few headshakes and some trashing. Size 2500 is what i would use for any living pike..

    I was looking at a 2018 Stella when a Daiwa rep tried to sway me towards the Exist. I asked him what the frame was made of. His response was magnesium. I played stupid and asked if it was "saltwater safe". He responded that it has a hydrophobic coating so it would be fine in saltwater. Now, my question would be what happens when the coating gets scratched. Magnesium corrodes very easily with saltwater. I live on the coast of North Carolina, even 25 miles up river is brackish in the summer. I feel like that is a huge gable to save weight. I did not buy either as $750 will put 2 or 3 tanks of fuel in my center console...Still a work of art when it comes to reels!

    • @torment6369
      @torment6369 Год назад

      The thing I've learned is a lot of these reps do not actually know anything about reels. They get told something and regurgitate it. When I worked at cabelas we had a daiwa rep trying to say the sv spool technology on the tatula sv made the reel cast further. If you actually know how that reel performs, it actually is the opposite, kinda like a dc reel without the dc noise. Thats why many people use it as a dock reel rather than a open water.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  Год назад +2

      Thats old information. It is true that magnesium alone will corrode but none of these frames are pure magnesium. They are magnesium alloys. There is no longer anecdotal evidence of these reels corroding. Trust me, the frame is the very last thing that will fail in saltwater. A bunch of other stuff will break first, so if u buy such expensive reel u need to wash it with freshwater and clean from time to time.

    Top notch honest review as always. Ive been having a hard time justifying this reel if I have the Certate judging by how well the Certate has been performing for me.
    I see this as a lighter version of the Exist w.o the magseal bearings which makes it attractive but I really have my eyes set for the new Vanquish since i like the slow oscilation feature.

Solid vid man, keen to see what you get to play with next (23 Vanquish👀).

      my normal way of talking is being just a little rude, like everyone from Eastern Europe. Often people think im angry or upset and yet im totally peaceful inside, just... Bulgarians are sometimes a little inconsiderate. When i talk to people in person its different because they can hear my voice, but if they only read me, they usually imagine i am upset or something. You don't need to worry about disagreeing with me - i always disagree with everyone.
      For example, i disagree with you that the Exist SF is being developed for 'ME' or for counter to Vanquish. The reason I think that is that the reel still has some kind of magseal. Reduced or not - that won't cut it against a Vanquish. My bet is that Daiwa will later use the EXIST SF platform to release a black-and-copper colored reel, that will weight 135 grams and will have NO MAGSEAL whatsoever. It will be called 2024 PRESSO LIMITED and will more beautiful than the Vanquish and the drag will sound nicer, and I believe will be a formidable alternative to the Vanquish.

      Thats a part of the rotor. You can't install the new rotor without that, because the parts inside are different. But it's not an upgrade anyway. First of all, all models of the old Exist and almost all models of the old Airity also have magsealed line roller, so there is no change at all. The models from the old Airity that didn't have magsealed line rollers were the FC models, but nobody fishes saltwater with FC reels. Maybe you do, but you are 1 in 100 and you are using a reel outside of its design purpose. For 99 out of 100 people this is a DOWN grade, because adds more resistance during the retrieve, and the resistance is already the biggest problem for that reel. I don't think this was a conscious decision on Daiwa's side to make the FC models with magsealed bearing because that doesn't make sense. My guess it they did it because there was no other way to use the new rotor, unless they made different design inside the FC rotors, but they didn't want to spend money on that.

      Yes i do saltwater finesse fishing (ajing fishing) in kayak and jetski with lots of saltwater exposure. You are hands down the best channel in YT that reviews finesse rods and reels so honestly, i really wish there is another Victor for saltwater finesse world. Maybe you should say mention things here and there about saltwater in your review videos for us, your saltwater subscribers. I currently uses 21 luvias airity fc1000sp - if i decide to upgrade to 23 airity 2000 my reason would be for the line roller magseal, better drag sound and ,so ppl say, 2000 size has better casting distance. Cheers.

    • @AMLuc1320
      @AMLuc1320 Год назад

      @@ifishcatfish I have to disagree with you Victor, I think your salt water finesse estimate is way off! Salt finesse is huge in Japan and much of Asia. Species like Rock fish and sea bream require light setups, here in Australia we have tournament angling for salt water estuary species like Bream. Bream anglers use finesse setups with 1000, 2000 or compact 2500 size feels.
      So I would agree that yes the majority of finesse spinning reels would be purchased for fresh water use, but on a global scale there’s a big market for finesse in saltwater.
