Yes! There are a couple of fics I'm convinced were actually in the shows- but one had OCs, & the other messed with canon quite a lot! Why those two, & not the loads of others that would fit really well?!? :D
I know!!!! Sometimes I read a fanfic with a small detail that was never mentioned so my brain thinks it cannon, and then I read a different story with a different answer to the same small detail and I think ‘no!!! That’s wrong!!!’
When fanfic writers can produce better stuff than highly paid Hollywood screenwriters, and are better at actual inclusion than 10 other films combined.
Whenever I read any ff and i wanna talk about it but theres only family at home i substitute the bottom in the relationship as femlae and tell it since I've only read like 5 hetero fanfics and left 2 of them halfway-
Dude, or when I watch the canon and I realize the most popular Fandom character/pairing was on screen for maybe five minutes of a two hour movie. Or that a character had died in canon and the whole Fandom just refused to acknowledge it. Or that a character had never even existed in canon but the Fandom just collectively decided that they were integral to most fanfic stories.
Do you know how good a Fan Fic is and you are so engrossed in it and suddenly its cut off... Then you look up to see when it was last updated. 2016 and its 2020. Thats the worst.
@@jjaeries4701 that's why I always check when it was last updated😂😂 or see the comments on the last chapter if the story says "Completed" Cause sometimes it says that, but the author just didn't continue it, so they put "completed" So yeah, always check the comments on the last chapter 😂😂

Finding golden fanfics is one of the best things ever. You can tell it’s golden since the moment you read it, you just get so sucked into the story, you get whiplash just by how good it is. It’s suited to your every taste, it becomes your new standard for that specific genre and it comes into your life like a shotgun.
Nothing gets me (an adult) giggling and screaming and swinging my feet in the air like a beautifully written fanfiction with great plot and characters that stay true to canon
Dude I found an ao3 fanfic where the main character got soul swapped with another modern day woman and it's like a game with points and I CAN'T FIND IT FOR THE LIFE OF ME!?!?!!!!!!!!
That's either a) confession scene or b) Extememly embarrassing, the main character doesn't deserve rights after that embarrassing display or c) EXTREME FLUFF HELP
I think it’s pretty safe to assume she’s a flavor of gay. After all, only gay people and old ladies who can’t accept that they’re going gray, dye and/or bleach their hair. (She looks like Narcissa from Harry Potter in the best way)
I can only remember to fanfics I read where the main ship is heterosexual, one had a trans protag, and the other I read for the actual plot and concept. Actually, the only heterosexual fanfics I read are for actual plot and concept.
The worst thing that has happened to me when reading fanfics is that I found the perfect writer. I loved all her stories, the were nicely detailed, well written and it didn't matter if you knew the show or not. I had started on of the most reviewed and most hits story in the fandom, almost half way, the author deletes the story. And most of the other ones too.
Happened to me with a really good fic, lucky they told us in advance and gave us a week after their final chapter to download the fic before it was deleted. I did so and I still have it with me.
@@ismeza76 lucky you. I just started going over another author's stories that I like. She hasn't uploaded anything since 2017 but I still enjoy her work. I like when they leave there stuff up so we can go back and read it
@@tiggert4002 Right!! The author explained why they felt they wanted to delete it and it was understandable but its a shame when they do, some works are truly wonderful and even unfinished could still bring joy. But aw well

Another sign: when you watch too many fanfics to the point when you can tell what’s going to happen in the next one you read Edit: Omg I’ve never gotten 128 likes before thank you for so many likes😁
My biggest pet peeve when it comes to fanfics is when the dialogue is hard to read. The authors should consistently use the same type of quotation signs so it’s not distracting. They should also space the dialogue appropriately and separate the dialogue of two different people to clarify who is talking.
literally hate the quotation one. i’ll spend like 5 mins scrolling back and forth trying to decipher who said what 😭 especially if the author gives everyone the same speech pattern
i once read a fic that wrote dialogue - like this - instead of with normal quotations, and it drove me crazy. it wasnt even a bad fic, the dialogue was just a pain in the ass to read.
"minus the flavor. -and the gay." This is absolutely accurate, never before have truer words been spoken. I've seen that sort of plot a few times in fanfics!
I actually decided to completely stop reading fanfics due to me being a freshman in college and wanted to solely focus on my education! I actually feel kind of relieved and I get (just a lil bit bc im still a student) more sleep. Sometimes I have to force myself not to go on wattpad, ao3, or asianfanfics but I have been not reading fanfics for idk 6 months that honestly its not a habit anymore (idk if that made sense😂) but if you are seriously wanting to stop i say do it. I also stopped due to idk like I get a lil bit weirded when it comes to shipping idols together bc you never know if they are gay/bi/pan and some of the fanfics can be super weird like smut/tentacles/bad guy and the bully start dating just anything that forces 2 idols in the same group to be in a relationship when they honestly prob can't stand each other irl. Sorry I went off on a tangent but fr if you want to stop please do it takes a lil force but it gets better 😂
@@ninapop136 Thank you, it's not really for me a big habit, it's just something as a guilty pleasure that I enjoy. I dont need it I just read them, I dont focus on the ship I just focus on the story, and not much about the people in it. I mean yeah sure I like that it's people I ship, but I dont go overboard. But I'm glad that you pushed yourself into not reading it anymore, that's good and im proud of you, maybe one day I can as well.
i relate so bad to the lack of sleep, mixing up fanfics, not knowing what is canon anymore (FOR REAL this one) and digging to the bottom of the barrel with the character death and horrible things with unfairly good writing for such content. additionally you know you got it bad when you check every morning and every period at school to see if one of your 30 bookmarked fanfics have updated. not to mention when you catch up to a fic you're really attached to, finished or unfinished, and you just. sit there. like what do i do with my life now. i love fanfics /gen
“Not knowing what’s canon anymore” hit me. I was watching this show with my aunt and I hadn’t seen any of the new episodes, so I asked her to catch me up. I asked if two of the main characters had gotten married because in a fanfic I read they were, but they hadn’t in the real show!!! So now I’m awkwardly trying to back track and drop the topic, and then 20 minutes into the episode he proposes to her!! So now I’m just sitting on the couch next to her praying she doesn’t ask how I knew if I hadn’t seen any recent episodes, especially since the one we were watching only came out that day!😭
I thought “I’ve read this one” would be when you click on a fanfiction and start reading it and realize you already read it before because that happens to me all the time.
Hahaha yeahhh that’s me but only if I forgot to bookmark it, so when I read the summary I’m like “omg that sounds soo goooooddddd lemme read- oh wait it’s bookmarked......... LET’S READ IT AGAIN”
Since forever I kept every fan fiction I've read but sometimes when I'm looking through tags and see that it was in my library already...I read it again.
On a similar note, I ran out of this specific, actually very popular ship and every so often I go look at it and realize I literally already read every single one of the stories on all 45 of the websites pages. I keep scrolling and occasionally I see a cover I don't recognize but I click on it and it is a story I recognize.
My "tip" when I write fanfic is to imagine that nobody knows any of the characters. Or, that this piece of writing is gonna be read by people who don't know of this show/group/series/etc. That way the characters you make have at least, a bit more flavor.
The key is to avoid character assassination. If you use an existing character, you are not likely to know what makes the reader understand or perceive your own perspective of the characters and your assumptions of the original story. It’s not a simple transition from A to Z, or a name change, you are taking the accumulated emotional and experience of the reader, and tinkering. It can be done well, or it can be forgettable, or more commonly, it’s because the author wants to include their beliefs or fetishes in the original story. The usual reason people drop a story is because the author is too lazy to develop the changes they perceive, and just drops their doppelgänger or substitute in, pretending it’s the original. Or, you just hit their emotional bottom line with a profound emotional impact that doesn’t feel real or believable. Or, the common problem of FF, the author adds their own fetish and hopes you’re also a fan. Especially because your FF is going to be parallel to the canon/original, defining the new setting and what your splinter/offshoot characters believe or perceive early on, will give the native readers some time to adapt and adjust their expectations for the author’s perspective. Not all readers are ‘native’ to adaptive content, ie killing off or editing your own values on the characters written with a different purpose or written with perspectives that a fictional setting would never have, ie reincarnation or gay, 16th century married teenagers suddenly having contemporary American Christian values and interests. Stories can exist, but readers are not necessarily obligated to engage with your thoughts. Especially when changing foundation and core principles, profoundly alienates emotionally invested readers. Orienting the characters is usually the biggest flaw in a FF. Not because of competence or dislike, it’s because tropes exist for a purpose. People don’t change much, and neither does their personality or perspective. Having a character flaw erased, or being able to modify their love interest is a major factor that requires time. It might be simple to forget, but the causal connection is broken if you change the values and personalities of major characters. Especially if you are attempting to rewrite or make the characters for your own gratification or authority, ie what if these 9 year olds become 22, sic. People know what you’re going to have to address, even if you don’t want to acknowledge or write about it. Notably, the hardest thing to overcome is usually the characters who are ‘fixed’ in their respective roles. If you start editing the characters, this will push people away, usually because it’s a sign of straying too far from canon, they won’t recognise or adapt to the changes. The reader will interpret and react to a perceived change as a threat to their own assumptions and feelings about the characters they perceive.

The only time it’s straight is when the main character’s friend is in a straight relationship, but then the friend’s partner meets the main character of the same gender and they end up getting together and it’s gay
Has anyone ever stumbled across a new fandom through fanfics. (Like maybe it started out as a crossover between two fandoms and one was a fandom you were currently reading or maybe you were looking at an author whose works you like reading and found this fic they posted) and then get really into the fanfics on this fandom and spend so much time reading the fanfics and eventually say ‘you know what? I should probably watch/read the show/book this was from’ and THEN actually watch the source material? Because I’ve done that twice (maybe three times?) so far.
Not by a cross over, but I have done it twice now. I saw Star Trek the original series and the first avengers movie because of fanfics. When I was reading my first avengers fic I thought that the character Bruce was supposed to be Bruce Wayne for a good 2/3s of it!
Yes! I was big into Breath of the Wild circa 2021 and I remember stumbling upon a fanfic with characters I didnt recognize clicked on the tag for "Wild (Linked Universe)" and read at least 20 fanfics before I actually went for the comic
not a TB show oe film but yeah I have with a bandom fic. I love Iron Maiden and this lady was writing a really long one so I waited till she finished before starting to read it. i read fast but at that point I didn't know she was close to finishing it. also I'm impatient and didn't want to wade through so much only to have to wait on a cliffhanger. it's bad enough having to wait if there's a cliffie on a TV show I like especially a season finale. anyway the lady wrote a fic about how the Maiden singer falls in love with the guitarist of Nightwish and it;s so freakin' good that I wish it was the truth but anyways after reading it like five times over a few months I decided to start listening to Nightwish songs it's been two years and I haven't looked back and regretted any of the decisions.
Honestly....Fanfics and Mangas taught me the importance of communication, a 10 min convo could save like 20 chapters worth of hurt and misunderstandings.
Ik. Once I was reading the second book of Magnus Chase and there was a specific scene and later I could not remember whether I read that in the book or a fanfic. So confusing.😅
@@yunamchill9169 Oh! I'm pretty sure your referring to when Hearth and Magnus were looking for Hearth's dad because he had a ring they needed. If not, then sorry.
Everyone is mentioning how one of the worst feelings is when you realize the author discontinued a really good fanfic, and while I agree, no one is talking about how one of the worst feelings is when you’re reading an extremely well-written fanfic that hooked you in, but you finish it, and now you can’t find another fanfic to read that’s up to par with the extremely good one 😭😭
After reading a good book my standards becomes high. And now i judge everybook i read because of: bad grammar, not making any sense plot, being too cliche, not realistic ( Who falls in love with the person who kidnaps and torture them and because they have daddy issues they are forgiven easily) too predictable AND the worst reason not accepting advice and corrections when we readers give them 🙄
Me: “why does this fanfic feel familiar” Me after getting thirteen chapters in to the unique scene that I loved in a old fanfic that stuck with me for months: “oh”
Literally, I have this all the time where I either already read the fic or it's so extremely similar to another one that I get extremely confused as to if I read that one already or not xD
I remember I was once too bored for my own good and ended up getting halfway through a (get this) FIRST PERSON, filled with grammar abominations, au were the people could turn into animals and the PLUSHIE version of them, where two chapters in someone tries to "mate" with the protagonist, in my second language, and I only stop when two people mate. I was like 12, after that I stopped reading fanfics for a good few months
I've got so many tabs open, just in case I want to read the fics one day and I don't want to lose them... And I've stayed up until morning reading fics because I can't stop thinking about what will happen next. The worst thing is when you've spent hours reading a fic instead of sleeping just for the end to be really really bad and you realise you wasted the whole night
Opening up a fanfic after waiting months for that next update and then just seeing the newest chapter be titled as 'AN UPDATE' instantly makes my stomach sink. Every single time it's usually an announcement about either an infinite hiatus, or a straight up cancellation.
"forget a happy ending, some stories don't even GET an ending" Me hugging the 69 fics that were discontinued or ghosted by their authors: *SOBBING INTENSIFIES*

Oh gods me too😭 at least it's not a dead fandom, so I check every second day to see what we got, and then I squeek in joy when one of my favourites has a new chapter. Still waiting for those 2 dead fics to update though. And while I do that, I'm preparing to write my own fic.
I tried reading the Hobbit because I got into the fandom ( ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶T̶h̶r̶a̶n̶d̶u̶i̶l̶ for the fanfics) and because there wasn't enough T̶h̶r̶a̶n̶d̶u̶i̶l̶ crack in there, I dropped it and went back to fanfiction lmao
I never even finished the movie.. I have read so many fanfics to the point where it might be concerning, but when it comes to reading stuff for school, I just caaan't.
I have like, 5% of straight fanfics on my libraries; I honestly had to search the bottom of the pit to find a fanfic to recommend to a friend because the majority was either yaoi or not our native language
It’s weird because there are only a select few fandoms where I love straight ships (like Miraculous Ladybug for example), but it’s literally only for fan fiction. I love canon relationships so much and think they’re perfect (or as close to it as possible). I can see why people ship certain characters, but it’s easy for me to differentiate between fanfiction and canon. I always read fanfics as separate things, if that makes any sense at all
The not able to read an actual book one is so accurate. I read a 100 chapter book with an estimated read time of about 4 whole days, it was the most amazing thing I’ve ever laid eyes on, the world building, lovers who were secretly destined enemies, and just the roles the characters play were absolutely phenomenal, I read that entire book in less than a week. Cant even make it through my ELA three page reading assignment without getting bored
Same And I have a whole shelf of books that need to be read right now. Some of the books are a part of a book series I am dying to read. Yet, I don't have all the books of it, so they're the last books I'll ever read (if I ever manage to even read physical books again) until I get the rest of the books I need to complete the whole book series.
When the series you liked barely has any fanfics (adding onto the fact that the official series is on a hiatus): **cries in The Trash of The Count’s Family**
omg yes im so picky. i literally change it so its only complete and english and that the work with most words are on top. i also exclude a lot of things (thank god for that feature) then i basically read all the fics down to like 40k words. u can see i got issues
Fanfiction writers, please, for the love of God, put your fanfics across multiple platforms. Not only can you achieve a bigger overall audience, but if a fic gets deleted/taken down on one site, you still have it on others. Oh, and remember to use the same name or a similar name on each of those platforms so it's not confusing. As an example, all my fanfiction is on FFN, Wattpad, AO3, and Quotev.
The best thing about fanfics is when you finally found the old fic that you’ve been searching in the past for months, but gave up finding, only to find it again years later and it’s just as good as you remember it
"Why are you always on your phone?" "Just reading" "Oh what are you reading?" ".... Supernatural" "Cool, what's the story about?" >100K words deep in an kinky af fanfic, with more xxx tags than you can count< "Just started, don't know yet.." *sweat*

Yes but have you ever read a fanfic and the character does something so embarrassing that you feel the second hand embarrassment And it's so bad that the only way to cure yourself from it is to throw your phone across the room ☺️
Fanfics that completely make the characters OOC to the point of ridiculousness are the bane of my existence. I'm fully ready to admit I'm not always the greatest at that even in my own writing, but when It feels so blatantly over the top 24/7 I just have to dip.
Yes, I did. I just stop reading that fanfic. Start reading it again a day later and again throw my phone away in embarrassment. Welcome to my daily life. (Sometimes I can’t even finish a fanfic because of how cringe it is)
One time, I read about an 80 chapters fanfic and I spent my night just binging it, and as the sun began to rise, and I finished the second to last chapter waiting for the totaling finale, I realized… *the author hadn’t posted the finale in over 3 years.*
I think what's worse is finding the fanfic recently updated with the second to last chapter (and was previously consistent)...and then not getting the finale in over 3 years
I did that recently too, it was heart-breaking. I usually check if the story is completed and don't start abandoned stories, but this one was suggested to me as a feel-good fanfiction so I blindlessly dived into it. It was a bit of a mistake, because it stops JUST as the lies get exposed.
As a person who read multiple torture fanfics and somehow enjoyed it, I gotta say that this is true When ever I start talking about the fanfics that I read and enjoyed they really get concerned and one of them even told me that I needed Therapy 😀
I can really relate to the lack of sleep one. I have a bad habit where I sometimes stay up to 5 or 6 in the morning reading fanfics. If it's a fanfic I'm really into I tend to lose track of time. It doesn't help that some of the fanfics I read have long chapters that can take an hour or two to get through.

I read one of the longest fanfics on ao3, and the author is still posting it. Its like 3 millions words when I abandoned it. It took me four entire days to read it. And one of my favorite fanfics of all time went through several changes, first it was originally a crossover, then went through a rewrite, then never got updated for a year, and they finally abandoned it and they also added an entire work in the series to explain what was supposed to happen and why they abandoned it.
Dude I love how fanfiction readers just casually mention their ungodly reading speeds. 'Oh yeah, I just did the equivalent to reading Harry Potter three times over in four days, no biggie'. I swear to God fanfiction alters your brainchemistry

i can't always keep a straight face while reading smut because to me it is highly comedic. or sometimes downright disgusting (that's on being a lesbian who reads mlm fanfiction)

She forgot the bit where you start making fanfiction of the fanfiction you’ve read That, my fellow mutuals, is how I became a fanfic writer. I have truly reached the pits of hell.
Several of my best fics are responses to other fics. One of my most subscribed fics happened just because I went "hang on, these two fics play this noncon scenario as either 'nbd unusual segue to romance' or 'how much worse can we traumatize the guy' and I'm pretty sure there's a middle ground where it's still forced but it's not anywhere near that horrible" and suddenly out of the blue I had a Following I mean how does that even happen. Lately I've been working on a piece that's tied into a Supernatural Omegaverse AU Slavefic, and it vaguely disappoints me that like a dozen related fics got in before me. But I think that's enough to conclude that the fic is its own canon by now -- I'll be tagging my fic something like "Maybe Sprout Wings (Supernatural AU)" rather than SPN itself because I've never really watched the show and my impressions of most of the characters are entirely from fanfics, and Balthazar in particular I imprinted on from this specific fic.
I can't tell you how many times I have read a fanfiction, stopped because I have an idea, then imagined that idea playing out in my head. I usually return to reading in like 10 minutes tho
I've got one specific Notfic called "The Plot Bunny Purge" where I encourage anyone to leave ideas in the comments. Fandom-independent, but a way to get rid of ideas you've been holding onto, in the hopes that someone might randomly read the idea and get inspired to write something. And in the meantime a way to get the idea out of your head so you can move on to more fruitful endeavors.
I learned quite a bit from fanfic, and before, I tolerated the LGBTQ+ community, but I live in a fairly homophobic household. I didn't even know anything other than gay, straight, and lesbian until I started reading fanfiction. Now, not only am I an avid supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, but only 25% of the fanfiction I read is straight.
For real tho, the worst feeling when you accidentally close an old tab. Good bye you beautiful creature. I would have loved to read you, but alas, our time together was cruelly brought to an end
One other thing is probably reading a story and forgetting to bookmark it so you search for it for a month but then give up even though the plot still haunts you from time to time.
i want to reread a fanfic but i can’t find it since i have too many bookmarked, and the fact that i forgot the name. i think about it every time i start to read a new fanfic.
Not too long ago an author that had like 10+ really cool fics in process with really unique ideas announced on all of their fics for that fandom were being discontinued due to their changed feelings for the source material and the og author and their influence on people. And i was understanding but really freaking sad cuz i really like their fics, i reread and checked on them at least once in 3-6 months, even those that were last updated in 2015.:(
I know the feeling. There are at least two fics from the same author that have amazing ideas but seem to be discontinued, though they haven't said anything about that. It drives me nuts when something like that happens and I refuse to upload a long fic unless I know I'm going to finish it. VL

Dude, or when I watch the canon and I realize the most popular Fandom character/pairing was on screen for maybe five minutes of a two hour movie. My biggest pet peeve when it comes to fanfics is when the dialogue is hard to read. The authors should consistently use the same type of quotation signs so it’s not distracting. They should also space the dialogue appropriately and separate the dialogue of two different people to clarify who is talking.

I'm sorry I'm that kinda author...😭 I have great inspiration in the beginning but once I'm at half of my ff I get like 3 other story ideas. And wanna write those. + I get anxious once ppl start to read my story and want more chapters. I want my story to be perfect. But the story will feel like it's becoming an assignment. I will also feel like I'm not doing in for me anymore. ㅜㅜ And I end up not writing anymore. So rn I'm writing stories on Word and only upload once they're done.
@@civa1117 Noooooooo.. okayyy dont worry we get it. It was just so good that i get saaad.. and it had a cliffhanger so XD. But we dont want you to get anxious! @@saaraeerola6240 I totally get u tho. I also get kinda sad when I'm reading a good story and it's not finished. Even more disappointed if the author doesn't update. But man...the stress it bring sometimes. It's stress I'm putting myself through actually. I can like spend hours or even days thinking about which way to go with my storyline. What options I have etc. But whats the best one? What will the readers like? Isn't it to obvious. What if this chapter is disappointing?
Meh I just need to stop worrying about it. But it's hard.
I hope I just continue writing or pick up my stories when I feel less anxious about finishing them, rather just enjoy writing.
@@civa1117 argh im sorry. But as a reader i dont want that author is thinking what will the reader like. I want that you write when you feel like it and write what you want, like you said. And it will not be disappointing! Ofc some of the chapters will not be as good as some other but that dosent mean they are bad, and its just a fact! Every good book has its best and not so best thing, but its still good. Dont worry about it. You should not stress so much about thing you like to do, right? I hope that you get less anxious and just chill/relax.
100% all of this. I've been so desperate for specific couple fics, that I've read incomplete, and abandoned fics. I feel all of this so deeply.
Oh gods me too😭 at least it's not a dead fandom, so I check every second day to see what we got, and then I squeek in joy when one of my favourites has a new chapter. Still waiting for those 2 dead fics to update though. And while I do that, I'm preparing to write my own fic.
“How can I read 300,000 words a day and I can’t finish The Hobbit” THAT HIT SO CLOSE TO HOME OMG WHY YOU GOTTA CALL US OUT LIKE THIS
because the hobbit is BORING
This is me and when I get a page to read for school I can't its like I'm reading it but not actually understanding it
I tried reading the Hobbit because I got into the fandom ( ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶T̶h̶r̶a̶n̶d̶u̶i̶l̶ for the fanfics) and because there wasn't enough T̶h̶r̶a̶n̶d̶u̶i̶l̶ crack in there, I dropped it and went back to fanfiction lmao
I never even finished the movie.. I have read so many fanfics to the point where it might be concerning, but when it comes to reading stuff for school, I just caaan't.
Because when you read something you find interesting it doesn't matter how many words or how long it is. Fanfics I love always end too fast 😂😂😂
"Is anything you read straight?"
That's when she realised she never read a straight fanfic.
I have like, 5% of straight fanfics on my libraries; I honestly had to search the bottom of the pit to find a fanfic to recommend to a friend because the majority was either yaoi or not our native language

@@gabrielabatista6016 this is literally my main problem when I tell people that I read a lot and then they ask me to recommend them something 😅

And I have a whole shelf of books that need to be read right now. Some of the books are a part of a book series I am dying to read. Yet, I don't have all the books of it, so they're the last books I'll ever read (if I ever manage to even read physical books again) until I get the rest of the books I need to complete the whole book series.

The best thing about fanfics is when you finally found the old fic that you’ve been searching in the past for months, but gave up finding, only to find it again years later and it’s just as good as you remember it
yes, yes, and yes

The "not knowing what's canon anymore" really hit home😭 some of these fanfics are so well-written that it can seem like they got it from the source material
TRUE😭
I literally forgot that my favorite character died
that one hit me 😭😭
I was shocked at how relatable this was but also completely calm about it at the same time.
Yes. I once the my phone across the room, hissed, and retreated to the farthest corner of my bed in a ball.

NOOOOO
I think what's worse is finding the fanfic recently updated with the second to last chapter (and was previously consistent)...and then not getting the finale in over 3 years
Ouch. I feel you, really.
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I did that recently too, it was heart-breaking. I usually check if the story is completed and don't start abandoned stories, but this one was suggested to me as a feel-good fanfiction so I blindlessly dived into it. It was a bit of a mistake, because it stops JUST as the lies get exposed.
As a person who read multiple torture fanfics and somehow enjoyed it, I gotta say that this is true

I can really relate to the lack of sleep one. I have a bad habit where I sometimes stay up to 5 or 6 in the morning reading fanfics. If it's a fanfic I'm really into I tend to lose track of time.

That, my fellow mutuals, is how I became a fanfic writer.
I have truly reached the pits of hell.
Everytime i find out an unfinished fic has a continuation fic it makes me wanne cry of happiness, so ty 😭🫶
Several of my best fics are responses to other fics. One of my most subscribed fics happened just because I went "hang on, these two fics play this noncon scenario as either 'nbd unusual segue to romance' or 'how much worse can we traumatize the guy' and I'm pretty sure there's a middle ground where it's still forced but it's not anywhere near that horrible"
and suddenly out of the blue I had a Following I mean how does that even happen.
And in the meantime a way to get the idea out of your head so you can move on to more fruitful endeavors.
that's when you know the writer succeeded, they got fanfics about their own
Fanfiction is the reason why I know the difference between “former” and “latter”

Fanfiction is the reason i knew what a retrospection was before I've been learning abt it at school

Keep in mind, I started reading fanfic when I was 11 or 12, and I am currently 15.

VL
