Vaxxed has a very high production value but i'm afraid that's all there's to it. It's directed by Andrew Wakefield, the main culprit behind the 1998 paper that started this movement. Wakefield had much to gain from the MMR vaccine being retracted. He only studied 12 children (a way too small sample group) and immediately condemned it. It would be like if Mercedes "investigated" 12 BMW cars and concluded they aren't safe to drive and should stop being produced. Countless scientists since have proved that Wakefield was wrong but the anti-vaxx movement refuses to hear it.
The FDA, CDC, WHO etc. have nothing to gain from a vaccine that causes autism. Considering the resources required to treat autistic children it's a net loss for any state using it so scientists would have scrambled to fix it if the MMR vaccine actually caused autism. It's an unfortunate matter of coincidence that children develop autism at roughly the same age as they get their vaccines in the same way that it's an unfortunate coincident that so many people eat ice cream during summer when most drownings take place. That doesn't mean that ice cream makes people drown. Everything you do in life has a risk. Just walking up a flight of stairs could result in your death if you slip but vaccines are as safe as it gets. Deadly diseases have been eradicated thanks to them but if we stop vaccinating even one generation they will flare up once again and kill millions.
Science is a scary thing. Big, overly complicated terms in Greek and Latin just drives a wedge between the public and these amazing discoveries but trust me: Vaccines don't cause autism. Vaxxed is well made but poorly researched.

Im curious if any of these protestors experienced this virus. I battled this virus at the end of March and it was absolutely f#@$ing horrible. For a week I could barely walk, felt like someone was standing on my lower throat and chest. I really thought I was going to stop breathing. I ran no fever. I run 25+ miles a week plus strength train regularly and I thought I was going to die. I could just imagine someone who is elderly or already sick. This thing is no joke.
Unfortunately some people just have to get it to understand. Simple words and kind advice does nothing to them
@Open Comments Initiative the thing that they might not understand is that the more they don't listen, the longer they will have to stay home because it will take longer to break the chain of infection. Some countries who did it sooner are now showing trend of daily cases getting lower each day. The US is going to need to do it way more than one month to get out of this war.
@Paul Muggins I'm glad you fought and made it through. I felt so hopeless. It is a horrible feeling to think that you may stop breathing. My wife got it a week after me and she had milder symptoms. I have 3 little ones and thank God they did not have any symptoms. When things open up, it will take me a long time to get use to being around a crowd. I am so paranoid now, I actually disinfect the mail and every piece of grocerie.
@Open Comments Initiative Breaking the chain works if it was done sooner, since the first several cases. I was born American and now residing in an Asian country for the past several years. Breaking the chain is possible and it seem to work here where strict measures were taken since the begining. Infection and death rate is getting low here but it is predicted to spike again if the lockdown is lifted. During the 1st phase of the lockdown, only essential services were allowed to operate. Now we are in the 2nd phase and rate is getting lower, selected companies are starting to operate. It look almost impossible for the US now though, looking at the infection rate.
I am glad you are ok. It is scary. I can't imagine the vulnerable and the elderly getting sick. These people are just too selfish and useless. Can you order a hair dye , and dye your hair in the meantime?

You divide the number of deaths by the total number of infected, which we don’t know because there isn’t any mass screening for this virus. The issue isn’t the stay at home order itself, the issue is that the government failed to get a handle on how deadly and infectious the virus is so we had to resort to stay at home orders. I agree that people need to get back to work soon, but there has to be more testing and precautions in place to allow them to do so in the safest way possible. I mean look at how we eat, everything is HUGE, the portions are ridiculous, we eat three times a day even though we don’t need to, and now Obesity is a world wide problem. And if you want to be frustrated with someone, be frustrated with our federal government who passed the buck to all the governs without providing testing. Only 1% of our nation has been tested and it’s have been left for each individual state to make and distribute their own testing. This is not something most states are able to do in great quantities. Therefore each governor is acting appropriately for what their medical systems (including testing, PPE, and hospital capacity) and supply. And if you think it will be just as simple as “keep the sicker cities locked down” that’s 100% delusional. One Infected person on average will infect 5 people. So it just takes one asymptomatic or presymptomatic person to travel to an area that is healthy to spread the virus. Unless people are prohibited from leaving their county (which I’m assuming people would also protest) that wouldn’t work.
E E most cases are mild or asymptomatic. The virus affects the elderly and people with underlying conditions. Poverty from a global depression will kill 10X more than the virus. Get back to work. Now.
