That small angle taper is a fantastic technique. I’ll be using that in the future!
I liked the tip using the hand plane ingeniously cleverly.
Also useful for holding notes or recipes to the vent hood over the stove in the kitchen.
Only one note: for this tool to measure correctly, it's backside should be vertical.

If you have some form of laser pointer, you can use it with your digital angle finder to spot a much longer angle, like in home remodel projects. You just need a second person to mark the location

Useful tips for angles, especially the last. Use as a stopblock, wouldn’t trust is.

I just wish these little boxes had a much greater resolution. 0.2 deg is no great shakes. On the flat, a spirit level is still more accurate. For Colin’s usage idea’s here..ok..useable, but I really want to see a consistent resolution accurately to 0.1 deg because over a distance of four to six feet that box makes the end of your line out (up or down) by as much as 3/16”….and that’s not level! Also lets not forget to make a fine angle over a long piece you can fall back on basic high school trigonometry….example: you want a 1 degree angle over a four foot length…use Tan angle = opp/adjacent sides…so the rise along that length being the opposite side to the angle you get tan 1 deg x 48 inches long = 0.84” rise from level….Way more accurate than any other measuring method.
Finally don’t forget the old school water level…always spot on, if a but fiddly to arrange…A water filled tube as thick as a pencil, stretched along the work piece with each end set to rise vertically. The water level at both ends has to be the same…even if that work piece is twenty feet long! Perfect level.

However I do find it the fastest and accurate way to zero my blades
I use one to set my recirculating sluice box if I want a specific slope on it.

Most of those are not square (90°) from one side to another. However, the electronics inside are accurate enough for my use. When you zero it on the bottom, you need to reference (or measure) using the same side to reduce any error. I have seen plenty of people complaining about the Wixey is not accurate because they zero it on the bottom and slap it on the side of a machinist square to show how it was not accurate. What they are essentially comparing is the error between the bottom and the side of the packaging (not the electronics itself). Those are made of molded plastic. Of course they are not square.
The one with the grinder, you didn't zero it right. Get the metal to point right at the center of the shaft and then zero it. The tool rest on the grinder is well below the center point of the wheel making a level part to grind have a negative angle cut into it
Colin - I have looked through your vids and can't seem to find a Jig I need to make. It's a resizable jig for making square cuts into the wood for embedding different-sized tiles. Do you have a link to one?
I liked the taper jig idea (though, being weird, I just use the Tangent trig function). But:
Stop block? No! Way too easy to move.
Angle grinder tip? Nope! Zeroing it to the base does nothing for measuring the grinding angle, since the base is irrelevant to that angle of the tool rest.
I like his videos but this time I was going to comment the same thing you did. This seemed like fishing for ways to use the angle finder and showing some non-tested uses.
When planning the angle, very carefully set it to 25 deg on a flat non-moving surface, then zero it out then put it on the plane. It gives you + or - off of 25 deg.
Easier to see and use.
Using it at an angle (for other uses) - then zeroing it out - shows you when you leave your present angle
That tapering jig trick… why didnt I think of that? All that trigonometry … for nothing.
Nice video about Digital Angle Gauge. When doing an angle on the band saw and drill press wouldn't it be more accurate to zero out the gauge on the saw blade or the drill bit rather than the table?

Great ideas, except that I disagree on using a square to set the table saw blade. My problem is that the throat plate on my saw can gather dust and other debris so that it doesn't necessarily exactly aligned with the saw table. So I use the angle gauge to be sure my blade is at 90 degrees.
Your square should be long enough for most of it to be sitting on the actual table. If your throat plate is throwing that off because of debris, then I'd think you'd have a bigger problem with your work pieces running over that

You need the Lufkin Angle Finder Finder (LAFF)
I do not trust that angle finder to be 90* to the sides, so I rotate it 90* so I'm setting angles to same face I set zero.

So if it's accurate across the board to use my machinist square.... don't buy one correct? It's either accurate or it's not, there is no in-between in precision work
